Kathy was a great resource to have during my pregnancy and delivery. I had a doula during my first delivery and I knew I wanted one during my second. The last trimester was very different than my first pregnancy and Kathy was there to provide assurances along the way. She gave insights into what to expect at the hospital since I had to be induced this time. During labor, she worked with my husband to assist me through the extensive back labor pains and contractions. Her voice and encouragement helped me achieve my goal of giving birth without an epidural. I truly appreciate that Kathy was by my side during labor and delivery and highly recommend her for doula services.

My fiance and I used Kathy as our doula for our labor and delivery at Chesapeake Regional Hospital. She was one of the only doulas in my area that would come to that hospital. Kathy was so flexible with when and where to have our meetings before delivery and we appreciated her keeping in contact with us whenever possible. My family and I agree that without Kathy, the whole experience would have been vastly different. She was so good at explaining what was happening when I was in the hosptial and she was great at managing the numerous family members and friends we had in and out during the process. She also assisted my fiance in getting my placenta handled properly for transport. The pictures she took for us were simply beautiful and inspiring. Whenever I tell my daughter's birth story, Kathy and her assistance is one of the main players in my narrative. We have already discussed employing her services when we're ready to have more children.

We initially hired Kathy as we weren’t sure if my husband could be at my delivery. After we found out that he would be present, we decided to still hire her since we felt that she would be a calming and knowledgable support figure in the room. Kathy has a calm and welcoming presence to her, which is obviously an attribute to her competence in general but especially in the delivery room. Bonus-she will take photos if you want them! She is professional and more than available concerning communication, welcomes any questions or concerns one may have and gets back to you in a timely manner. She will also check in with you after baby arrives to see how things are going. All around a great experience and we have already referred her to a friend of ours!

My family and I have been so blessed by Kathy! We began working with her when I was in my last trimester and my husband was gearing up for deployments. She met with us in our home and was the calming, professional, & knowledgeable presence we needed from the very beginning. Kathy helped me develop a birth plan that made me feel comfortable and empowered to have the birth I wanted…and then a second birth plan when things took another direction a week before my due date. I cannot put into words how valuable her support was during this time. In the hospital, her strong, supportive, and calm energy helped us navigate the scariest, most exciting, most memorable morning of our lives thus far. She helped me find my voice with the medical staff and insured that I had everything I needed to accomplish each step, all while taking priceless photos of the journey. Her presence after our sweet, angel baby came into the world was so needed and appreciated. She helped us begin breastfeeding, provided resources for when that piece got difficult, and made sure we were settling in to life at home with baby. I don’t know how I would have made it without her! Kathy really goes above and beyond for the families she works with and we couldn’t be more grateful!

I cannot say enough good about Kathy and how so thankful that we decided to have her at the birth of our beautiful baby boy Chaney. We could not have been in better hands. As first time parents, we were nervous and uncertain about everything that was soon to come. With Kathy’s help, my husband and I felt comfortable and were able to have a birthing process that we felt comfortable with and were amazed at. She has a wonderfully gentle and calming personality that enabled her to help me in ways that I did not imagine. Kathy is compassionate and knowledgeable. She was able to take the lead and ask for things that I did not even know that were available to me. She spent a lot of time coaching, encouraging and reassuring me that I was doing great and would continue to do so. She was also extremely flexible and rolled with everything that I wanted to do. I cannot imagine doing it without her and will have her present at all of my birth’s from this point on. I would highly recommend Kathy to anyone looking for a Doula.

Kathy joined us for the birth of both of my boys, the second being in June 2015.  We loved her so much from the first round that there was no question about who I wanted present for my second.   She is such a calming presence, even during the sometimes craziness of labor, late hours, and intense emotions.  She is that quiet voice behind you ready to jump in when needed, offer a helping hand (hope I didn't break any bones, Kathy!), or offer something unexpected like chapstick or ice water.  She fills any gaps, helps assess and doubts, and elevates everyone's spirits.  Truly a blessing and I thank her so very much for being a part of two wonderful birthing experiences!

Having Kathy there for the birth of my first child was a wonderful experience. Kathy was very calm, reassuring and prepared. My husband and I truly appreciated the way she communicated with the hospital staff in order to make us more comfortable. After my baby was born she was brought to the NICU and as a new mom this was nerve wrecking, however Kathy made mt feel calm and that everything was going to be OK. Kathy was a great part of my birth experience, she made something that I feared be one of the best days of my life even if everything did not go as planned. I would definitely recommend for any ones birth, and I hope she will be there for my next birth as well. Thank you again Kathy!

I had two births, one vaginal and one c-section. With my third baby I was determined to have a all natural VBAC. I knew my chances increased if I hired a doula. I found Kathy's page online and contacted her. She directed me to doctors and midwives who would allow a VBAC. Kathy was great at listening to everything I wanted and didn't try to sway my opinions. My labor and delivery went even better than I thought it would. Kathy was such an amazing part of it. She was there but kept the focus on me and my husband. The massages were the best at helping me through labor pains. When I felt like giving up and kept saying I couldn't do it, she was so encouraging and kept telling me I could. After 6 hours of intense labor, and only 5 minutes of pushing I gave birth to my 9lb 4oz little boy! I honestly don't believe it would have gone so prefect if she hadn't been there. It was so nice to have a team her and my husband there cheering me on. I'm so sad that we probably won't live in this area next baby because I would hire her again in a heartbeat!

Hiring Kathy as our doula was the best choice we could have made! Kathy is warm, friendly and knowledgable and was invaluable as part of our support system. I am so grateful that she was there to give my husband and I support as I labored to bring forth our second child. I couldn't ask for a better birth experience!

My husband and I secured Kathy's services when we were about 30 weeks pregnant. She was a great resource for us as we were preparing for the birth of our first child. She's a veritable library of information on everything from pregnancy to breastfeeding. She lent us books and DVDs that helped us understand and prepare for the process of labor and parenting. She also shared her own experiences and recommendations with us as the day grew closer.

Unfortunatley  had to be induced instead of getting to labor at home, but when I went into labor she was a positive and calming presence for me at the hospital. She is very knowledgeable about birth, interventions and options to avoid them. In addition she was friendly with the nursing staff, which made them friendly with us!

If you are looking for someone that is upbeat, knowledgeable and helpful to assist you in your birth journey, I would highly recommend Kathy Gillman.

Can I just say a massive thank you?! The birth of our little boy was so perfect, and we really attribute much of that to your advice and support. Thank you so much for helping bring Caleb to us, and for the amazing photos you sent to us of the occasion. We really appreciate you

First time Dad's listen up. Kathy was the safety net I needed to make sure I was doing everything possible and correctly throughout my wife's 21 hour labor. I watched my wife go from consistent agonizing pain for the first few hours to over the top, unimaginable, breath stealing, charges of throbbing pressure for nearly 14 hours. Kathy was there the entire time in the labor room, reassuring us that everything was normal, giving directions on what and how to do to calm or assist my wife in any way. Also, she was an integral part of our decision making process when the doctors recommended different courses of action throughout the labor. Simply having her experience there to lean on during our time of need was invaluable and cannot be overlooked, especially for a first time Dad. I recommend her a thousand times over, you will not be disappointed; she is the best and I will consider her part of my family forever.

I hired Kathy as my doula for my second child's birth. My first birth experience was medicated but I wanted to have an unmedicated birth for my second. My midwife suggested I hire a doula to help me through the process since this was my first unmedicated birth. I found Kathy online and had an interview with her and immediately liked her. She is profesional but also very approachable and easy to talk to. It was evident that she enjoyed being a doula and really cared for her clients. I also liked that her main priority was what I wanted from my birth experience, that was very important to me. I could already tell in the interview that she would do everything she could to make my birth experience what I wanted it to be.

My birth experience was better than I could have expected. Kathy arrived at the hospital shortly after my husband and I arrived. She was awesome during the labor for both me and my husband. She helped ease my labor both physically and mentally, offering constant reassurance for my husband and I. She stayed with us after the birth, which I also loved. She didn't just come for the birth then leave.

Overall my experience with Kathy as my doula was fantastic. I would certainly recommend her to a friend as well as hire her again for any furture births of my own.
