Lourdes was my doula for the birth of my first baby. I was new to the area and had chosen to have my son at a birth center. My husband was supportive but I knew  I would need more help if I wanted to have a successful waterbirth.

The information Lourdes gave us at our prenatal visits was so helpful and very informative. It definitely helped to prepare both my husband and myself for labor and birth.

On the day I went into labor, Lourdes came to our house to help me labor before it was time to go to the birth center.  She could tell by my contraction pattern that my baby wasn't in a good position so we did exercises to help get my baby in a better position.  Lourdes was so helpful with this.  Without her immense knowledge, I never would have known this. When we got the baby in a better position, labor began to feel different and my contractions got stronger and closer together. Everything started to happen so quickly.  Lourdes told us it was time to leave. She followed us to the birth center where I went straight to the birth tub that my midwife had filled while we were driving there.  Soon I was in transition and I know I went crazy.  Lourdes was instrumental in bringing me back into focus and reminding me to remain in control.  Very soon after that I had my baby boy!

I don't know how I could have ever done this without Lourdes at my side.  She has so much knowledge about pregnancy and birth. We had fun with her during our prenatal visits and were comfortable to laugh and be ourselved around her. She has the BEST laugh! Her calm nature during my labor was so helpful in getting my baby here and being able to tell my birth story the way I imagined it.

Thank you, Lourdes! We love you!

Lourdes has been my doula for 2 births. I am pregnant with my 3rd baby and am excited to have her by my side with me for this one too.  She is knowledgeable about so many things and is always willing to answer my questions whether it's about my pregnancy, post partum, or my babies.  She has watched my kids grow up and has been there for major events in their lives beyond their births (when she is able).

With my first child, I was completely clueless.  She educated me and answered all of my questions, even the embarassing ones. With my second baby, I just knew I had to have her with me.  She was just as wonderful at that birth as she was at my first.  Her calming voice and her touch truly made a difference when I was in labor.

I know this birth will be just as good as my others.  There is no way that I would attempt a birth without pain medication without her.  She is my rock during labor and reminds me that I am strong and capable.

My husband and I chose to hire a doula for the birth of our second child because the birth of our first ended with an induction and we felt ill prepared in managing the labor and birth once we went in for the induction. We interviewed several doulas but Lourdes' compassion and love of her job stood out from the moment we met her. My husband and I knew instantly that she was the doula for us.

My pregnancy went well at the begininning but as time went on I began to develop issues with my blood pressure, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, and I had a few UTIs. I began to get nervous and feared another induction.Lourdes was always quick to respond to texts when text with a new worry. She spent time explaining my options to me, reviewed my diet and blood sugar log with me between doctor visits and helped me stay on track with my meals and exercise so that my blood sugars nd blood pressure wouldn't skyrocket. Lourdes was very helpful during our prenatal visits making sure that we understood our options and what the possibilities were for our birth since I had these conditions.

My doctor eventually told me that I would have to be induced and Lourdes came to explain the indcuction process to us. She also talked to us about natural ways to possibly stimulate labor. The day my induction was supposed to start, Lourdes had been working with us and I walked in to the hospital in active labor at my induction time. Lourdes stayed by my side and provided comfort and kind words when I needed them.  She also got stern when I started to feel out of control during transition. She took my face in her hands and had me look at her and in a stern but compassionate voice reminded me that I could do this. My plan had been to birth without medication and with her help, I was able to do it! I am happy to call Lourdes my doula and now my friend. She will be one of the first people I call with my next pregnancy because I can't do it without her.

Lourdes did an amazing job as our doula for the birth of our first son, Lucca. She provided us with invaluable resources and support throughout my pregnancy and post-partum visits. She never left my side since I called her to come help me deal with contractions at home on a Friday at midnight until Sunday morning where I was transferred to the hospital recovery room.

Lourdes offered to teach a half-day worth of the birth class privately in our house since the group one was cancelled. I really appreciated her open availability and she understood my concern of waiting until the next class since it was so close to my due date. My husband and I gained a lot of knowledge concerning birthing terms and our rights to ask about the risks of procedures being offered by the nurses and staff.

Due to some complications and after many efforts from Lourdes to avoid getting an epidural, I asked to get it since after getting Pitocin the contractions where extremely painful and I wasn’t allowing my body to relax. With her on one side and my husband on the other, they held my hand and provided me with the emotional support I needed to finally birth my son vaginally.

Eight months post-partum and we are still in touch. I feel comfortable texting her about silly questions and I know she will always be there for me. I thank her from the bottom of my heart for all her assistance. If you’re looking for the most awesome doula, don’t hesitate to give Lourdes a call!

Absolutely wonderful! I was able to give birth to my daughter and labor without the help of any medical interventions or pain aids. I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of Lourdes! My husband was iffy at first about hiring a doula because he didn't want someone "bossing" him around. Lourdes and my husband worked great together and they were the ultimate tag team when it came to my daughter’s birth. Not only was Lourdes wonderful at my birth, she also worked with me to get my labor started because I was facing an induction. After we worked together for the day my water broke that night! I will definitely be using her again if we decide to have more children.

Lourdes helped deliver our first baby, Eli, in 2012.  She is my doula's backup doula so I met her for the first time when I am 4 cm dialated at the hospital laboring.  Dispite the fact that I have not met Lourdes before, she makes me feel completely comfortable and confident that I have the support I need to give birth to my baby without pain killing drugs even though I have been in back labor at home for the past 5 days.  Lourdes is friendly but stern enough to let me know what I need to do and what I can expect during the labor.  Her strength gives me strength to follow my heart and face the laboring pain without feeling despair.  Laboring and giving birth is not an easy task and I envy the moms out there who gives birth quickly.  Lourdes is with me the whole time (12 hours of labor) while my midwife was not able to be at the room which is expected since the midwife has other moms she needs to tend to as well.  Now, almost two years later, I still think back to that day and I know in my heart that Lourdes had made a tremendous difference in my birthing experience and now I am ready to hire her again for my second baby who is due in Oct!

Lourdes was my doula for my second baby, Presley. She was so wonderful. We had a hospital birth but labored at home with the help of her. I had a completely natural birth and it was everything that I imagined. Lourdes helped me get comfortable and focused during labor. This being my second child and expecting her to make an earlier arrival than her sister did (who came on her own at 38 weeks), Lourdes helped me get Presley into position with some positioning techniques. At the points when I felt like giving up near the end she helped calm me to make it through!

My husband and I selected Lourdes to be our doula for the birth of our first child. I wanted to have a natural birth with no unnecessary interventions. We decided to hire a doula: since we weren't able to birth at a birth center, it was our first child/birth experience, and we wanted help in minimizing hospital and OB interventions/inductions. We interviewed four doulas all of which were excellent but selected Lourdes because of her friendly/easy going personality, birth experiences as a doula, and her unique knowledge of essential oils to assist in labor.

We met at length prior to going into labor to discuss our birth plan, early labor positioning/relaxation techniques prior to her arrival, and even gave us explanations on cloth diapers which I had asked about. Her tips and advice were so helpful and helped me feel prepared and confident for the upcoming labor.

I began Braxton hicks contractions 4 days after my due date which turned into contractions on the 5th and 6th day past my due date. We stayed in contact with Lourdes, finally inviting her to come over at 5am on day 7 when the contractions became intense enough where I felt I needed her support. She arrived soon after my phone call and I labored for around 10 hours at home until leaving for the hospital at 7cm. 4 hours later our healthy baby boy was born!

Lourdes was instrumental at ensuring the baby was in the perfect position for a smooth labor, that I was mentally in a good place, well rested and informed in all my decision making during the birth. I truly had the birth experience I was yearning for and Lourdes was key in making it happen. She also was helpful post partum with breast feeding, newborn questions and momma care. Definitely would recommend this excellent doula!!

Lourdes was my doula for the birth of my daughter, Isabel (born July 2012). She was very friendly and understanding about everything I was going through. She helped include my husband in the whole process, which is great, because he really wasn't sure what he was suppose to do to help.

We were suppose to deliver @ a birthing center, but after countless efforts on Lourdes ' part,  we were transported to the hospital. Once there, I had to receive Pitocin, to increase the frequency, intensity and consistency of the contractions.

Lourdes answered any concerns I had and provided clear communication to the hospital staff to express exactly what I did and didn't want to happen.

After hours of frequent, intense, and consistent contractions, I was given an Epidural, because my body was so tense, I couldn't relax enough to dilate. A few hours and several pushes later, Isabel was born vaginally.

Lourdes never left my side throughout the entire time. She knew I was scared and provided knowledge, support and reassurance until I was comfortable with her leaving us to rest and bond with our baby. I was so relieved to have a friendly face and understanding ear during the whole process. I know that while we didn't get to have our ideal delivery, without Lourdes there, it would have been even less like we had planned and much more frightening.

I would recommend here to anyone.

I had decided early on that I was going to attempt to have my first child naturally and my husband was the only family member whom I wanted to support me during the process. He encouraged me to seek a doula.

We met Lourdes her for an interview not too far from my due date (our fault, because we delayed looking for a doula until somewhat late in the game). She was very friendly, yet professional, and very open to what kind of support we needed. She made herself available for the remainder of my pregnancy in case we had questions/concerns. She also stayed close to town to ensure she could be available for the birth.

I was going to have my daughter at a hospital that did not have a reputation as being very open minded about birthing practices, which I didn't realize until I actually met Lourdes. However, she in no way let that affect her decision to help us. She suggested various techniques before and during the birth (at the hospital) to help with the pain. In fact she even brought her medicine ball to the hospital for me. She talked to the medical staff at the hospital to help my needs (regarding natural birth) be met at much as possible. She was firm but not rude to the hospital personnel, so they were open to her suggestions. My doctor gave me some positive feedback about her during my first visit back afer having the baby.

In the end, my husband had the best intentions but he wasn't really sure how to help me during the natural birth of my daughter, so had it not been for Lourdes we would not have been able to accomplish things the way we wanted and were indeed physically able to do. My husband and I both commented later how glad we were that she was there for us. She was truly critical in helping us welcome our daughter exactly the way we wanted. If we have another child I will be contacting her again. Thanks Lourdes!

Lourdes was our doula for the birth of my second son. Our first son was born via c-section for pretty much no good reason, and by the time I was expecting baby number 2, I was quite irritated at the way things had gone the first time, and I was determined to VBAC the second time around. I called a few different doulas, and finally called Lourdes. I think we were on the phone for an hour the first time we ever talked, and a face-to-face interview sealed the deal.

My birth didn’t go the way I had hoped. Finding a VBAC provider in Houston is tough, and the route I chose was far from my house. I got to the hospital in labor at 41+3 days, and was told that because I was post dates and a VBAC, I was going to have to stay, despite only being 1 cm dilated. I was devastated, my blood pressure shot up, and then there was no way I was getting out of there. Our son was born 4 days later by c-section (again), but this time it was my choice, and Lourdes was with my husband and me every step of the way, whether in person ready to massage pressure points and apply essential oils to get my labor going again, or over the phone or text messaging in the middle of the night when my blood pressure would go down and my body would labor. She came to the hospital for the surgery, and hung out with me in recovery while my husband stayed with our baby boy in the nursery.

It was so nice to have someone right there who had been in similar shoes to where we were – stuck in a hospital room with blood pressure creeping higher, and trying to decide what to do about the birth. When you’re really hoping for a VBAC and wind up with another c-section, it pretty much sucks. But I know that having the support I had from my doula and friend Lourdes really helped me with my emotional recovery after this birth – it was support I hadn’t had with my first birth. I would, and I have, recommend Lourdes to any of my friends.

Ah, Lourdes. She is a wonderful woman who helped me deliver my daughter in 2010; she was my doula and now she is my friend. Initailly my hasband had a hard time emotionally with the delivery of my first child. He was supportive as he could be, but it was too rough for him and he felt helpless dispite his doctorate degree and the birthing classes. He was the one who had the idea to hire a doula when we found out I was pregnant again, so I just started researching until I found Lourdes. When I started developing complications during the pregnancy, she was just a phone call away and answered all of my medical questions. It was nice to have her to call on when I wasn't sure about what was going on.

When I started having contractions she started preparing herself to be by my side the entire time. From that moment on she was there until my daughter was born. She has a very gentle and calm since about her that is very soothing and she knows just what to do at the right time. Dispite all my complications I was able to deliver my daughter with the help of my Doula, Lourdes and my husband with no pain medicine at the hospital. Lourdes was there for me physically, emotionally and she was my support system. Lourdes was also a huge help for my husband and helped him to assist me the entire time as well. I had both of them supporting me the entire time and my husband was more engaged in helping me than with our first child. Which suprised me since he wanted to hide away in the waiting room, but Lourdes showed him what to do and suppoted him as well.

After the delivery I continued to have complications, which resulted in me having to go back into the hospital. Lourdes came to visit me at the hospital and talked to me about everything that was going on with me medically. She was very knowledgable and experienced.

Lourdes will forever have a special place in my heart.
