After having a not so great prenatal appointment in my second trimester, where I didn’t feel listened to or known, I knew I needed to find a doula to walk along side me the rest of the way. When I first spoke with Kalista, we immediately clicked. She listened to everything I had to say about my prenatal care up til then, what I wanted moving forward, and what I hoped for with my labor and delivery. I especially loved that as different minor complications arose during my pregnancy, that made an induction a real potential for me, she was able to walk me through different options to create a birth plan as close to my original one as possible.

Looking back I am so thankful I had her with me during the labor and delivery. Kalista helped me have the unmedicated birth I hoped for and assisted with pain relief, positioning, coaching, and more. My husband was also so thankful she was able to explain to us what was going on during the entire process and why and what choices we had.

I will hands down recommend Kalista to any mom to be. She is an amazing doula and made what started as a very confusing experience, into our amazing birth story.

I don't even know where to start. I am almost 3 weeks postpartum and have been heavily reflecting on my pregnancy, labor and delivery as a first-time mom. I marched with Kalista when I was about 20 weeks pregnant. The kindness, support, and education provided by Kalista from day 1 has made the entire experience incredibly memorable. My plan was to have an unmedicated birth, but comlplications along the way forced an induction and an epidural. My body continued to struggle to dilate, which caused a very uncomfortable, prolonged labor. There were many moments of feeling very challenged and overwhelmed. Kalista stayed by my side in the hospital the entire time, as soon as I was admitted. Kalista provided ambient lighting, meditation music, electrolytes, stress tools (ball and labor comb), suggested positions to try during contractions, and massaged my legs during the most intense times. One of the most memorable things I will always remember during my labor and delivery was her soft, kind words of encouragement during painful moments and during my actual delivery. I honestly can say that I wouldn't have been able to overcome the challenges without her and my fiance by my side. I was hard on myself when many the turn of events changed my birth plan. Kalista made my fiance and I feel comfortable and confident that we could overcome it all and still have a positive delivery. When I look back on everything, I can honestly say that I will miss the entire experience and parts of me wish that it wasn't over. If I ever have another baby, I hope that Kalista is available again to help me have another positive birth experience. We are so grateful for her!

Kalista goes above and beyond in her care as a doula. I am so grateful for the time that Kalista poured into me and my husband prior to the birth of our son. This was my first labor and delivery, Kalista provided emotional and physical support to me throughout my labor, she was flexible with my needs and how she approached my labor process and needs. She was a constant source of strength and calm for myself and my husband and I am forever grateful for her awareness, commitment and care that she provided. I am hopeful that Kalista will be availble and ready to join us when we prepare to welcome our second child into our family, Kalista is now a part of our family and I'm so grateful for her. I would recommend Kalista as a doula for anyone that is looking for a calm, aware, knowledgeable and consistent doula to join them in their pregnancy/labor and delivery journey.
