Postpartum limits/restrictions: I won't provide support in homes where there is smoking in the home, for my own health and comfort.

Relevant volunteer or advocacy work

While living in Halifax, I was a member of the Volunteer Doula Program through Chebucto Family Centre. In that role, I provided free birth doula support to members of our community in need of support for their birth while a paid doula contract was out of their financial reach. I am also working on completing my PhD research in Sociology, where I am studying how doulas use evidence-based research in their work with birthing people. This work is part of the larger advocacy I do to ensure that birthing people are provided with effective, meaningful care that helps them to feel truly supported and empowered during this critically important time in their lives.

Fee Details

While I'm new to being a doula, I've been supporting families professionally since 2010, first as a NICU and pediatric nurse. Being a birth doula means that I get to hold space for YOU, for your mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing all throughout your pregnancy and birth. I want this transformative time in your life to be the most empowered it can be. My standard birth package includes: ongoing phone and text support during daytime hours until 37 weeks gestation; on-call 24/7 support from 37 weeks until your birth; up to three prenatal visits to get to know each other and prepare for birth and baby; in-person labour and birth support at your chosen birth location; and one in-home follow-up postpartum visit within a month of your baby being born.
