My husband and I had a great experience with Anne! We felt that Anne was always available at a moment's notice whether it was through email or text or phone with any questions or concerns or just thoughts that I had regarding birth, pregnancy, and nursing. I really appreciated that. She is very knowledgeable and knows how to listen, give reflective and thoughtful feedback and she really helped me to process my birth experience and also gave me things to think through when I needed to make decisions this pregnancy. When it came time for me to give birth, she was there right away and when I felt like I had no strength to make it through, she believed in me and supported me with words of encouragement. I was so glad to have Anne be a part of my support system and my doula. It was such a great match.
Anne is a knowledgable and caring doula. I felt very comfortable with her there guiding me through my Hypnobirth.
Anne is a wonderful doula and a fabulous Hypnobabies teacher too! We took her class, hired her to be our doula, & had a wonderful birth experience with her. Then, after our baby was born, she encapsulated our placenta (Which was great, the pills boosted my milk supply, elevated my mood, and helped me have more energy).
Anne did 2 prenatal visits with us, learning about our hopes, dreams, and wishes for the birth of our third baby. Then, she came to our home during our birthing time and helped us have an amazing homebirth by providing caring doula support and hypnosis coaching. After our baby arrived, she did a postpartum visit with us where she gave us her birth notes, answered our questions, and reminisced with us about our birth experience.
Anne is AMAZING, kind, knowledgable, funny, happy, and great to be around. Do yourself a favor & hire Anne to be your doula!
We hired Anne for the birth of our first baby and at the time I had no idea that this was the best decision we made prenatally. I can’t really say enough good words about Anne Ferguson. I have such a high respect of what she does and how she does it!
Anne worked great with the medical staff, she helped with positioning for optimal baby position, the emotional support , the encouragement and the guidance she provided were unbelievable. Anne knew what I needed before I needed it. Her presence and help was priceless! Anne supported and worked great with my husband (a skeptical physician). She was able to capture my daughter’s birth with our camera and I’ m so glad we have this moment in a video! After birth Anne has been a tremendous help, always being available to answer our questions about breastfeeding, postpartum and baby related issues promptly and professionally.
Now I believe that all women, regardless of the way they choose to give birth, MUST have a doula like ANNE FERGUSON. Anne is a professional who has the knowledge and the skills required for supporting families during labor and birth. Anne is an incredible doula and has the package to provide high quality support to women during and around birthing time.
Anne did an outstanding job and I strongly believe that without her we would not have had the same outcome, and for sure we wouldn’t have had the amazing birth experience we had! We feel so fortunate and grateful Anne was with us in our daughter’s wonderful birth!
I was pleased to have Anne as my doula for the birth of my first child. We decided late in the pregnancy to have a doula, but having someone there who had experience with childbirth gave me confidence. She met with my husband and I for a couple of prenatal appointments and gave me some tools (some hypnobabies tracks and positioning recommendations especially) to help me during labor, so when the moment came, I felt prepared to just let my body do the work - and all went VERY smoothly. After the baby came, she wrote up a play-by-play of the labor which was fun to read later since I was "in the zone" and not 100% aware of what was happening around me.
She also followed up with me afterward to help with any breastfeeding questions and to make sure that both my husband and I were adjusting to parenthood. Without family in the area, I appreciated the extra support with all of the questions first-time parents have.
Having Anne as our doula helped me prepare for my birthing time with confidence. I always felt like I could ask her any question or discuss any concern. She was very supportive of the type of birth my husband and I wanted to try for. I had a few rocky days postpartum and my husband reached out to her and she didn't hesitate to just talk to me and listen. Her help and encouragement with breastfeeding was priceless. She had great advice, shared her own stories and basically was just an amazing support person during the most wonderful and craziest time of my life.
Anne was a fabulous doula. Very supportive, practical, reassuring, and followed my lead as a mother. She offered plenty of ideas and gave support when needed, letting my husband take support lead whenever possible. We were second-time parents, and already had a birth plan and a birth vocabulary etc, so she took what we were comfortable with rather than trying to pursuade us into using a particular method or vocabulary, which I strongly appreciated. She gave us additional pointers and answered questions while never offering unwelcome or unnecessary advice.
In the end, we had an easy and laid-back birth in a hospital, almost exactly as planned. It went wonderfully and was a great memory for the family. Her placenta encapsulation service was also very helpful.
Anne was a great help while I was pregnant and very sick, during the birth and after as well. She was always quick to respond when I had a question. She helped ease my husbands fears about the birth and postpartum period. Because I only had 2 hours of labor (please don't hate me) Anne got there just in time for pushing (3 pushes) she grabbed all our cameras and just started taking pictures. The shots she got were priceless, if she hadn't been there I wouldn't have any of them since it all happened so fast and we didn't even have time to think about cameras. She stayed with me afterward and helped with breastfeeding and still was my advocate when it came to newborn procedures etc. My daughter had to go to the NCU briefly because of low blood sugar, but with Anne's help with nursing, her blood sugar bounced back up extremely fast and she was back with us in a few hours. She never even had an IV placed :) She also helped me process the birth afterwards, which was an amazing gift since it went so fast. I didn't even have time to pay attention to anything. She gave me a timeline of when things happened which was extremely helpful when trying to piece everything together. I can't say enough about her, truly made our birth experience wonderful!
We hired Anne as a hypnodoula to support our use of Hypnobabies during my birthing time. My birthing time ended up coming nearly 2 weeks after our "guess date" and Anne was in touch with us on nearly a daily basis, providing both emotional support as we waited and advice on how to possibly speed things along. Once the baby was finally on the way, Anne was with us for well over 24 hours, both at our home and at the hospital. She provided a great deal of emotional and physical support as well as providing us with information when we were faced with interventions. She spent hours, literally hours, at a time reading mini-hypnosis scripts to me during wave after wave. We were finally blessed with a healthy daughter and were able to do it all without any pain medications (my personal goal) and minimal interventions. She continued to be a great support to us during the first few weeks of breastfeeding and provided the service of encapsulating the placenta. All in all, Anne was indispensable. If we have another child, we will definitely be asking Anne to be our doula again. Thanks Anne!!
I am very grateful that my husband and I had Anne for our first birthing experience. Anne was available with an abundance of useful information throughout the pregnancy. Her help greatly contributed to the calm and smooth birth of our daughter. I especially appreciated her attention to our birthing plan and her assistance ensuring that it was followed as closely as possible. Anne is kind and thoughtful. I would highly recommend her doula services.
Having Anne as our doula was a great choice. She taught and prepared us during the prenatal appointments and was a great resource to have throughout the birthing process. We were very impressed by her knowledge of the birthing process and she helped make our birth very relaxing. I would definitely recommend Anne if you are looking for a birth doula.
Anne's presence at the birth of our second child gave my husband and I the support and confiendce we needed to welcome our child into this world the way we had planned. We envisioned a drug free birth in a hospital with a midwife, and were open to a waterbirth. Anne helped us to make sure we had prepared as needed by offering resources for reading and viewing. She also spoke with us multiple times prior to the birth to make sure she understood exactly what our wishes and goals of the birth entailed. When we toured the birth center at our local hospital Anne was able to accompany us and allow us to envision our options. She also educated us in regards to placenta encapsulation, a service she provides.
When the time of the birth drew near, she was readily available (even for a little "false labor"). On the night of the birth she arrived with extra energy drinks for myself (the mother) as well as supplies to get herself through the labor process. She documented details about the beginning stages of labor to help us remember the entire process. She supported myself and my husband while at home by keeping the mood light and making sure we were sticking to our plans. When we arrived at the hospital Anne was a great support for helping me to ask the right questions to the midwife and nurses. Anne helped my husband to provide appropriate support to me throughout the birth process, such as suggesting that he walk and stand with me as the contractions became more intense, or getting into the tub with me to ease the pushing stage.
As the baby was born Anne helped to make sure that our son stayed with me according to our plans. She also stayed to make sure that he was able to latch on and begin breastfeeding.
One of the things I am most grateful for is the record she kept the birth and provided to us, what a wonderful memory to have!
