Maddie was such a blessing to our birth experience. She's incredibly knowledgeable, making her a tremendous advocate in the hospital. She brings a calming, confident energy into every situation. She has an amazing skill of being able to tune into both parents and anticipate needs or offers ideas that neither may think of in the moment. Once Maddie walks into the room of your birth, she is there, present, and devoted to your birth experience from start to finish. Anyone would be lucky to have her in their corner. I had the opportunity to work alongside Maddie Baumann as a labor and delivery nurse during a particularly challenging case, including an intense and prolonged second stage of labor. Throughout the experience, Maddie consistently demonstrated strong knowledge, dedication, and genuine empathy. She was a true team player—supportive of both the patient and the care team, and calm under pressure. Her presence made a meaningful difference in a demanding situation. I would confidently recommend her to any family looking for a skilled and compassionate doula.

I seriously can’t say enough good things about Maddie Baumann. She was such an incredible support during my second labor. Our experience with a different doula during labor with our first wasn’t great, but it ended up being completely different with Maddie. Hiring her was worth every penny!

She’s really knowledgeable and has such a calm way of explaining what’s going on that made me feel empowered. Nothing ever felt pushy or judgmental, which was important to me. During my spontaneous labor, she helped us figure out when to go to the hospital, gave hands on massage/support, talked me through contractions and painful back labor, suggested different positions to get baby in a better position and helped me figure out how I wanted to make decisions around epidural timing and manual water breaking. She also got along so well with the hospital team, which made everything feel easier and more comfortable. Our nurse even commented on what an amazing doula we had after the birth!

After the birth, she kept showing up for us. She helped with latching in the time after delivery, checked in on me regularly, and even helped us pull together last-minute postpartum support when we were having a hard time. That meant a lot during those tough early days.

We also had help from three postpartum doulas through Expecting Joy, and Maddie Baumann was by far the best and most helpful. In addition to taking amazing care of our baby, she would jump in with things like laundry and tidying up, which made a huge difference for our family.

She’s calm, experienced, and just a genuinely caring person. I felt really comfortable with her the whole time. My husband also commented on what a great support she was. Truly a pro and just a real one. I would 100% hire her again.

Maddie was our doula for our first baby and oh my gosh I can’t say enough good things about her. She’s very communicative through the whole process of getting to know her and sharing our desires for our birth plan. She was incredible during labor providing the perfect support based on what we wanted. She‘s a great cheerleader, as well as guide and willing to approach the powerful experience applying strategies that work best for you and your family. Specifically, I‘m an athlete and I really wanted a “coach-like” mindset and Maddie nailed it providing all the encouragement and visualization I needed for such a smooth and beautiful birth of my baby. Highly recommend Maddie!

Maddie's calm presence and knowledge helped both me and my husband to feel safe before, during, and after the birth of our first child. Though I desperately wanted to avoid an induction, that was not the case. However, I was still able to have the birth experience I was hoping for and Maddie supported this goal! Big thanks for her proactive return to the hospital earlier thank we would have thought during the induction process- turns out for my labor this was right on time. Following the birth, we appreciated her follow up and check ins. In the sleepless haze of welcoming our little one home, it was helpful to have her on our team.

We had a wonderful experience with our doula Maddie. From pregnancy to delivery, she provided so much guidance, reassurance, and emotional support. During labor she helped us stay calm and confident, and her presence truly made the experience more positive. We are so thankful for everything she did for our family and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate and knowledgeable doula.

As first-time parents, hiring a postpartum doula was incredibly helpful. After meeting Maddie, we knew she would be a perfect fit to watch over our little one. Her calm demeanor and extensive knowledge made us feel so at ease. Being able to get much needed rest overnight while she looked after our daughter was truly a blessing. On top of the overnight care, she was always quick to respond to my never ending questions, organized for us, and even made lactation balls for me! Would absolutely recommend working with Expecting Joy, especially Maddie.

It’s hard to imagine welcoming our daughter into the world without having Maddie by our side. We are first time parents and were working with another doula who was unavailable during the start of our delivery. Maddie jumped in as our backup doula, and we are so thankful that everything worked out that way. She came to the hospital with very little notice in the middle of the night, quickly met us and was up to speed on our birth plan and immediately provided her expertise and help.

She was at our side throughout the entire delivery and helped walk us through different delivery considerations, how to get comfortable with different positions, and guided us throughout the evening with our ideal plan in mind. She was comforting and informative, coaching through the delivery and allowing us to follow our ideal delivery plan. Following the delivery, she stayed with us to ensure we were set for our first night. Maddie has continued to check in on us and stopped by to ensure our family was doing well.

Overall, Maddie is an invaluable presence and offered a wealth of knowledge and a sense of peace during such an important day in our lives. We are lucky to have had her support in our journey and would recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, thoughtful and soothing presence on such an important journey.

I can't recommend Maddie enough! Maddie was truly an excellent doula for our birth. She gave us the peace of mind with my breech baby and scheduled c-section. She helped us plan for all the scenarios - good and bad which really helped me feel prepared for c-section day. She was also able to provide us lots of research and tips before going into my ECV in hopes to flip the baby. This was very helpful for me to feel prepared for the ECV. I also really appreciated her postpartum knowledge throughout the birth doula experience. She helped me feel at ease with my baby from the moment he arrived.  

My support partner and I were really impressed with her ability to put us both at ease in the operating room. She had a calming presence throughout my birth that made it feel like everything was moving in the right direction.

I could not begin to describe how much Maddie changed the trajectory of our early parenthood with just a short review. We were lucky enough to meet Maddie with our first child in 2023 on our very first evening home, when I had to head back to the hospital for postpartum preeclampsia. We left our 2 day old son with her and could not be more grateful for how comfortable and safe all of us felt during a very stressful time.

We found Maddie again for our second child in 2025 and once again felt completely at ease, learned so much from her about early newborn life (again! you tend to forget the fog), and got those precious few long stretches of sleep that wouldn't otherwise have been possible.

Your first few days and weeks really set the tone of parenthood, and feeling supported, rested, and heard are so crucial. We will forever be grateful to Maddie for her calm, steady, cheerful presence in our home during those early days.

Maddie was absolutely amazingas our birth doula. She gave us a lot of clear and great information in the pre-delivery house visits. She helped us prepare for the delivery with excercises and strategies to achieve my wife's birth goal. She was prompt and available for any questions needed answered. 

During the delivery process her presence was invaluable. She was great support, sounding board and advocate for my wife and I while communicating my wife's needs and wants with the nurses and doctors. She went far and beyond to make sure my wife and me were comfortable throughout the whole process. She is also very knowledgeable about body positioning and birth strategies that helped my wife navigate the twists and turns in our birth journey. She made the entire birth process so much more comfortable for us and we truly think her expertise, empathy and support really helped my wife achieve the ultimate goal of a healthy vaginal birth, despite many obstacles. 

Maddie is a very warm, kind person and an excellent, professional and skilled doula that we highly recommend.

Maddie was our postpartum night doula, and as first-time parents we were understandably nervous and unsure of what to expect. She was incredibly knowledgeable and patient, answering all our questions and teaching us essential newborn care skills such as swaddling, feeding, bathing, and product selection. Maddie was always punctual, professional, and supportive, and thanks to her we felt confident and well-rested during those early weeks.
