My advocacy work includes a strong focus on promoting equitable birthing experiences for Black women in Seattle, Washington. I am deeply committed to addressing the disparities and systemic injustices that Black women face within the maternal healthcare system in our city. Through initiatives such as partnering with organizations like the Black Maternal Health Alliance of Washington State to organize educational workshops, participating in community outreach programs like the Seattle Black Doula Collective, collaborating with local hospitals and clinics to improve cultural competency training for healthcare providers, and advocating for policy changes at the state and local levels to ensure respectful and dignified birthing experiences, I strive to amplify the voices of Black women and raise awareness about the importance of culturally competent care. These experiences have enriched my understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by Black women in Seattle during pregnancy and childbirth, and I am dedicated to advocating for meaningful change to improve outcomes and empower Black mothers and families in our community.
