I knew as soon as I found out I was pregnant I wanted Meredith to be my doula. I planned to have an unmedicated birth; with an uneventful pregnancy + Meredith on my team, I believed this would be possible for me. Fast forward to 6am on my due date - labor came on hard and FAST. Meredith and I had a calm “you’re in early labor” conversation on the phone, which escalated quickly to her coming to our house, then us heading to the hospital much sooner than I ever expected as a first time mom. She coordinated with the L&D + midwife team for someone to escort us up and helped reassure my husband as we made the drive to VCU. She supported me when I changed my mind on getting the epidural to rest, and held my hand when the decision was made that my baby had to arrive via c-section. After our son made his entrance and needed to go to the NICU, Meredith stayed with me so my husband could be with him. She made me feel strong after my birth went the complete opposite of my plan. I’m forever thankful for her support and the peace she brought to my birth- and for all of her postpartum check-ins. Her passion for birth is unmatched - she was made for this work!

I’ll never truly be able to put into words the gratitude we feel for Meredith. She was our rock in labor prep, delivery, and recovery. It was my first pregnancy and labor experience, and it was with Mere’s guidance and support that we felt empowered every step of our journey.

Leading up to labor, we went through the motions of developing a labor plan, and it was my goal to have an unmedicated birth with as little intervention as possible. When I went into labor at 41 weeks, I didn't know how labor would affect me. I called Meredith at the first sign that things were progressing, and she advised that I try to get as much rest as possible before the marathon began. 

Throughout labor, she remained by our side, not only supporting me but also my husband, which was just as important to us as our doula. When the pain became overwhelming and our hospital visit revealed I wasn't as far along as hoped, Meredith and our midwife honored my birth plan by helping us return home to continue laboring.

Her unwavering encouragement, belief in my strength, and constant physical support allowed me to manage through intense contractions. She ensured I kept moving to help my baby descend while continuously consulting with our midwife. 

When I decided to waver from my original plan and chose an epidural, Meredith honored my decision completely. It’s her compassionate presence that allowed me to write my own birth story on my terms. Mere is absolute magic, and I recommend her to all of the expecting mamas in my life. We're forever grateful and can't wait to have her by our side again for our next journey!????????????????

I am incredibly grateful for the support and guidance that Meredith provided during the birth of my first baby girl in August 2024. From the moment we met, she brought a calming presence, offering reassurance and expert knowledge every step of the way. Her compassionate care helped me feel empowered and confident throughout labor and delivery. She was a steady, encouraging voice when I needed it most and a gentle, nurturing presence during the most vulnerable moments.

I would wholeheartedly recommend her to any expecting parent.
