The Youth Excellence Society August 2019 - present Volunteer at a week-long youth summer camp for ages 14-18. Many participants are often considered at risk youth, and I strive to provide excellent, safe care. Along with other camp volunteers, staff lead programs for participants that require carefully thought-out planning. The YES provides a supportive and inclusive community that encourages all staff and participants to challenge themselves and create positive change. Job includes, but is not limited to, running interactive programs for participants, playing games and engaging with youth. Midwives Collective Victoria September 2021 – April 2023 I volunteered weekly alongside the office manager and over six midwives. In this environment, I deepened my understanding around community-based care and working as a collective for and with patients. I interacted with parents and expecting families which expanded my own community care practice and skills, as well as my knowledge around the model of practice for midwives in BC. I completed a range of tasks that included but was not limited to, sending emails, navigating OSCAR healthcare platform, restocking equipment, as well as engaging in community interaction and feedback. Old City Midwives July 2021 – July 2022 Volunteer with midwife collective in Nanaimo. Create home birth kits, GBS positive kits which includes knowing content and material as well as amount for each kit. Welcome and greet families and expecting parents while also assisting with transition into clinic. Clean midwifery clinic and restock midwifery equipment such medical utensils, office supplies, refill paper and midwife documents.
