BA/BS
Hello! My name is Summer, and I'm currently involved in various organizations that advocate for women's reproductive health and wellness. I am a new community doula at the Happy Mama Health Baby Alliance and look forward to working with mothers from underserved communities who might not otherwise be able to afford doula services. I have/will complete training in childbirth education and postpartum doula work through this organization, too. I'm also currently interning with an organization called the Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation which aims to advocate on behalf of women and girls who have undergone female genital mutilation (FGM). As a project, I am helping develop a resource for doulas on how to best support FGM survivors. I also conduct research for the Hyperemesis Education and Research (HER) Foundation which aims to educate, provide advocacy for, and research hyperemesis gravidarum, an extreme form of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Outside of my volunteer work, I am a Master of Public Health graduate student at George Washington University's online public health program and have a concentration in Women, Youth, and Child Health.
As I'm a new birth doula, my fees will range based on what the client is willing to pay. These fees include 2 prenatal visits, support through labor and delivery, and 2 follow-up postpartum visits. I do accept clients with Medi-Cal.
