Post a testimonial for Kayla Davis

From our very first conversation, Kayla instantly made me feel comfortable. She is a true safe space for anxieties, fears, and questions, and she was a steady partner throughout my pregnancy - offering reassurance, warmth, and thoughtful guidance as changes and concerns came up. Her calm, friendly presence made every interaction feel grounding and supportive.
But the best part of working with Kayla was the birth itself. She answered my 2 a.m. call with excitement and patience, immediately making me feel safe as I labored and made my way to the hospital. Throughout the day, she was an invaluable sounding board as I navigated decisions, and the moment she arrived to the hospital brought an instant sense of comfort. She was there in the depths of my contractions - reminding me to breathe, applying counter-pressure, and helping me stay present and focused.
Kayla was also an incredible support for my husband as we welcomed our first child. She was the ultimate cheerleader: pushing me when I needed encouragement, calming and comforting me when I needed it most, making me laugh in moments I didn’t know I needed, and surrounding our family with so much love when our son was born. Seeing her again at our postpartum visit and watching her hold my son was incredibly special because she was such a meaningful part of his birth story, and ours!

I cannot say enough good things about Kayla! From the moment we met her, she brought such a calm and grounding presence that immediately made us feel at ease. Our labor did not go according to plan, and having her there made all the difference. She supported both my husband and me through every step, helping us stay informed, steady, and confident even when things felt overwhelming.
She was always available when we had questions before, during, and after birth, and her knowledge of labor and postpartum care is incredibly impressive. What meant the most to us was how deeply she respected our birth preferences. She never judged and fully supported our decisions, making us feel empowered throughout the process.
She is also just so easy to talk to and genuinely kind. And for the record, she did not bat an eye when I absolutely demolished an Italian sub about ten minutes after giving birth like a feral raccoon, which honestly says it all. If you are looking for someone who is knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly in your corner, she is it!

It's hard to write a testimonial for Kayla because I don't know how I could possibly put into words how important and valued her presence was at the birth of my son, Jonah. I had done all the physical mental and emotional preparation to have an unmedicated birth. I ended up having severe preeclampsia, had to be induced, and ultimately ended in a c section. without Kayla, I think I would've ended up feeling shame and like a failure but instead I look back on my birthing experience as beautiful in its own way and direction it ended up needing to go. Kayla was able to help me go unmedicated in my induction as long as I could. These are cherished and beautiful hours that I will always hold dear. I had to make many medical decisions over the course of 40 hours and Kayla was incredibly supportive and encouraging. She didn't make decisions for me but she made me feel confident and secure in the calls I was making. She was an emotional and physical comfort and stronghand in every way. She also was a calm presence for my husband and helped empower him to be there for me in the best way he could. There really are no words to describe what she will always mean to me, but what I can undoubtedly say is: you will be blessed beyond belief to have Kayla by your side as your doula.

Working with Kayla was the best decision I made for my birth. From the moment I spoke with Kayla for the first time I knew she was supportive, thoughtful and caring. Kayla is extremely well versed on updated practices and procedures and is able to support her clients in the birth journey of their choice. She truly LOVES birth. I had hoped for a natural birth but ended up being induced due to complications. Kayla was the most calming and positive presence during my labor. She made me feel confident and strong. She brought peace to an unexpected situation. After my birth my husband and I joked we needed to send her a bar of gold to thank her for everything she had done for our family. She is a forever friend. If I have more children there is no one but Kayla that I want by my side. We love you, Kayla!

Kayla was an essential part of the best birth team I’ve ever had. During my second unmedicated birth, she blended effortlessly with the midwife and nurse and helped create a calm, grounded space that let me stay present as things quickly progressed. She supported both me and my husband in a way that kept us emotionally connected, and the ambiance she set in the room made everything feel safe and intentional. When I told her I was afraid, she stood strong with me, steady and reassuring. Kayla’s presence was warm, intuitive, and encouraging, and she helped make my birth experience truly empowering. We cannot recommend Kayla enough!

Kayla is amazing! Where do I start?!
While Kayla and I didn't start working together until 32 weeks into my pregnancy, her help and guidance was invaluable.
If you have any doubt about hiring a doula, specifically Kayla, hire her! You (and your partner) won't regret it.
I wanted an unmedicated, low intervention birth and reached out to Kayla at 32 weeks pregnant knowing a doula was someone I wanted on my team. I was delivering in a hospital setting with a traditional OB.
Kayla listened and supported my current plan but was honest and shared where I might have trouble receiving the support I was looking for and recommended I go a different hospital and birth team.
I followed Kayla's advice and honestly it was the best decision I made.
Kayla came to my house twice during my long early labor, helping me through contractions with counter pressure techniques while giving my husband a break so he could get some much deserved rest. With Kayla by our side, we labored at home for approximately 48 hours and that made all the difference and gave my husband and I confidence to stay home as long as possible.
Because of Kayla, I had the unmedicated birth, albeit a 60 hour labor, with no intervention, minimal tearing, and delivered a healthy baby girl.
Kayla will definitely be part of our birth team again should we have any more children. My husband even said multiple times "I don't know what we would have done without Kayla, she was amazing and so helpful."
We can't recommend her enough!

Kayla was the perfect addition to our birth team, and guided my husband and I with calm confidence. She was exactly the partner we were hoping for. She brought her experience forward, but took time to understand our individual needs and wishes, too.
She educated us, coached us, advocated for us and treated us with such compassion from our first meeting and through every hour of our labor process. She was a steadfast presence during a vulnerable, nervous and exciting time and we couldn't imagine having the positive birth experience we did if she wasn't there. We're so grateful for you, Kayla!

I will never stop raving about my experience working with Kayla! As a first time mom, I was overwhelmed with all the information and decisions to be made around birth plan. I was always interested in an unmedicated birth but didn't know where to begin as far as education, resources, and decisions go. Kayla was my saving grace and provided everything I needed to have a successful birth - from a detailed birth plan, educational resources, laboring positions, access to post partum resources, check ins after apts, etc. she does it all! I gave birth to my son 5 weeks ago and had an incredible, unmedicated birth and it truly would not have been possible without Kayla. In addition to her support leading up to my delivery (& calming me down when I started to worry or had concerns), she was a phenomenal coach, advocate, and calming presence throughout my delivery.
When I talk to people about an unmedicated birth for a first time mom I say a doula is a MUST!! One of the best decisions I have made was hiring her! She was a fantastic support system for both my husband and I - can't recommend her enough.

I had the absolute honor of working with Kayla Davis for the birth of my second baby—a successful VBAC—and I truly believe her support played a major role in making that possible.
From the very beginning, she took the time to understand my previous birth experience and the emotional layers that came with planning a VBAC. She was both reassuring and empowering, offering evidence-based information while always respecting my choices. Her calm confidence helped me trust my body again.
During labor, she was my anchor. She helped me stay grounded, reminded me of my strength, and created a peaceful, supportive environment where I felt safe. Her presence allowed me to focus, breathe, and move through each contraction with intention. She also supported my partner in ways that helped him stay involved and confident, which made the whole experience more connected for both of us.
Thanks to Kayla's support, I felt strong, supported, and in control—and I got the healing, empowering VBAC I had hoped for. I can’t recommend her enough, especially to anyone planning a VBAC. Her care is truly exceptional.

Hands down the best choice! Kayla is warm and personable. She went above and beyond what our expectation was for a doula. She is so knowledgeable and helps new parents feel prepared and empowered. She even spent the night at our house over two days of labor. She is proactive- she didn't just show up- she came to serve, despite being the middle of the night. She helps a new mom feel powerful in labor, like you can handle any challenge, because of her help. We cannot recommend Kayla enough.

I’m so grateful for the care, presence, and strength our doula Kayla Davis brought into our birth experience. She held space for us in ways that made the process feel less overwhelming and more empowering. From helping us ask the right questions to supporting my wife through contractions and unexpected turns, she was calm, grounded, and intuitive. We felt informed, supported, and seen the entire time. I can honestly say having her by our side made a difference. Highly recommend!

I hired Kayla as my birth doula for our first baby while my husband and I were still stationed in Missouri with the Army. She accomodated us so well and checked in during our move. We got to Virginia at the start of my third trimester, and she was very hands on after our arrival! Having her during my birth experience made the process so amazing. I would not have changed anything about my birth story, and Kayla was such a huge part of that! Having her support during pregnancy and labor and delivery was so incredible! I would recommend Kayla to any mom looking for a doula in RVA, especially first time moms!!!

Having Kayla as our doula was one of the best decisions we made during our pregnancy and birth journey. From the moment we met her, her calming presence and knowledge made us feel at ease and confident in the process ahead.
Kayla provided prenatal support through a home visit, where she answered our questions, helped us prepare mentally and emotionally for birth, and made sure we felt truly supported. But where she truly shined was during labor.
When my contractions started intensifying, Kayla came to our home and stayed with us for about four hours. Without her, we likely would have gone to the hospital much earlier. But with her guidance and reassurance, I was able to stay home longer, laboring in a safe, calm space. When we finally went to the hospital, I was already seven centimeters dilated—something I’m so proud of and truly don’t believe would have happened without her support.
Throughout labor, Kayla helped me stay grounded and focused. I chose to have an unmedicated vaginal birth, and her coaching—especially when the baby needed to shift positions—was instrumental in making that possible. She guided me into specific positions during contractions that helped move the baby, and not long after, I was ready to push.
One of the most meaningful things she did was support my partner just as much as she supported me. Her presence allowed him to confidently focus on giving me emotional support without worrying if he was “doing it right.” We both felt like we were in incredibly capable hands, and that made all the difference.
I can’t imagine our birth experience without Kayla. She was calm, knowledgeable, and nurturing in all the ways we needed her to be. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for grounded, empowering support during birth.

Kayla has such a calming and supportive presence, and she came to me when I was in a tough place--newly postpartum and triple feeding to combat weight issues with my 2-week old. She was incredibly efficient--taking baby so I could get a much-needed nap, making my healthy snacks and lunches, helping with laundry and bottle cleaning, tidying, and even making dinner. But the most impactful thing Kayla did was walk with me through a tough emotional spot. She was so knowledgeable when I needed advice, and so supportive when I needed a friend. The work she did in my home was temporary, but I will always remember the light she brought to me at a hard time in my life. Hiring her was the single best thing I did post partum and I will be forever grateful to her.

Kayla is truly a lifesaver for new parents!
We were incredibly fortunate to have Kayla as our postpartum doula after the birth of our baby, and we cannot recommend her highly enough. From the moment she arrived, she brought a calming presence and a wealth of expertise that immediately put us at ease.
As first-time parents, we were overwhelmed by the sleepless nights, endless feedings, and the sheer adjustment to this new chapter of life. Kayla not only helped us navigate the challenges of newborn care but also supported us in learning how to be confident, capable parents. She offered invaluable advice, practical tips, and reassurance when we needed it most.
But her care didn’t stop at just the baby. Kayla made sure our entire household felt supported. Whether it was preparing meals, tidying up, or simply encouraging us to take much-needed breaks, she went above and beyond to create a stress-free environment so we could focus on bonding with our baby.
Perhaps most importantly, Kayla helped us reclaim our sanity during a time that can feel so chaotic. Her gentle guidance and emotional support were just as impactful as her hands-on help. Thanks to her, we were able to not only survive but truly enjoy those precious early weeks.
Kayla has a gift for what she does, and any family would be lucky to have her by their side. She’s not just a doula—she’s a partner, a guide, and a true advocate for new parents. If you’re considering hiring Kayla, do it—you’ll be so grateful you did!

As soon as I found out I was pregnant I knew I wanted to hire Kayla as my doula! I had a doula throughout my first pregnancy and it made all the difference!
My goal was for an unmedicated hospital birth this time and I knew Kayla was able to achieve this herself so I was looking forward to her guidance to achieve the same!
Kayla was always there for me to ask questions, ease my mind with concerns, and motivate me to stay active throughout my pregnancy! Through labor we remained in communication throughout the day and she suggested techniques to get labor going and comfort measures to try on my own. Once my water broke things picked up quickly and she was ready to leave to meet me at the hospital as soon as possible! She got there just in time for me to start pushing and her counter pressure and support was everything! Having her there and the education in our prenatal visits gave me the confidence I needed to advocate for myself to get me my dream birth!!!
If you are considering hiring Kayla as a doula do it she is an amazing supportive doula!

Kayla was, without a doubt, the most incredible support person I could've asked for during the birth of my daughter. With this being our first baby, my husband and I were on the fence about hiring a doula and for a while didn't think it was worth it. Now we can say without absolute certainty that hiring Kayla was the BEST decision we could've possibly made. From the moment we met her, she was nothing but kind, positive, affirming, and communicative. My goal was to have an unmedicated physiological birth and there is no way I would've achieved it if it wasn't for Kayla supporting me through every contraction, helping me change positions, and encouraging me to find the strength I didn't know I had. During postpartum, she has been an invaluable mentor and friend. I have recommended her and will continue to recommend her to every single pregnant friend.

Kayla did an amazing job as our birth doula! She has a warm, friendly, and heartwarming personality. We had two prenatal visits: the first to draft our birth plan and the second to practice birthing positions and review labor and delivery. Kayla was excellent at answering our questions and educating us about the various options and what to expect. She also provided printed materials for us to refer to later. We had a very long labor, and Kayla was at the hospital with us for over 20 hours, offering constant support and encouragement and guiding us through different birthing positions. Her presence really helped make our birthing a positive experience. We feel very fortunate to have had Kayla as our birth doula and would highly recommend her to other expecting parents.

Kayla is hands down the best doula in Richmond! We met her about a month before our baby’s due date, and right away, her warmth, caring nature, and reliable communication made us feel confident and secure in choosing her for our first child. Although we wish we had found her earlier, as it would have given us more time to connect and benefit from her support, even in just a month, she made a huge difference. We’d choose her again without hesitation!
If you’re considering a doula, Kayla Davis is the one. Thank you so much, Kayla!

As a first time mom, I had some worries and anxieties surrounding my pregnancy and birth. Hiring Kayla as my doula was the best decision I could've made because she made me feel so comfortable and reassured. She was always so understanding and responsive to my needs. We created my birth plan together and she made sure it was exactly what I wanted. It was my goal to go as low intervention as possible, but I ended up having to be medically induced. However, thanks to Kayla I still had a beautiful induction experience! She was there every step of the way to provide encouragement, counter pressure, help me get into better positions and provide invaluable emotional support. My husband and I are so grateful to have had her there for the birth of our daughter. She also took the most AMAZING pictures of my daughter being born and her golden hour, and we will cherish those forever! I highly recommend Kayla for your empowering birth experience.

Kayla was so helpful in helping my husband and I prepare for the birth of our daughter. We met twice prenatally and Kayla was able to walk us through the labor process. She answered our questions promptly and was always available when needed. When I had specific concerns about a provider, Kayla talked me off a ledge while holding my hand and making me feel heard. I highly recommend Kayla as your birth doula. If you are looking for someone who is calm, knowledgeable about birth and the options available in the Richmond area, energetic but not over the top, Kayla is your girl.
