Attends hospital births? All Hospitals
My goal is to support a family during the perinatal period at their chosen place of birth. As a doula I am recognized and appreciated by staff at all the hospitals I attend. This makes my job even more rewarding.
Attends birth center births? All Birth Centers
There can sometimes be the misconception that doulas are not needed at births attended by midwives. However, my experience has been that adoula's work is very appreciated at a homebirth or birth at a birthing center.
Attends home births? Any Home Birth
I will happily attend any home birth where there is a primary care giver that is trusted and skilled.

After a difficult first labour and delivery, when I got pregnant the second time I decided to hire a doula to support me. After meeting several doulas we decided that Millie would be a great match for us because of how warm and down to earth she seemed. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. During the pregnancy Millie was supportive, she listened to what kind of birth we hoped for and was very knowledgeable, providing a wealth of information. She was always available and during the labour brought a calming presence and was able to inform us of our rights when it came to medical interventions. Even though the labour was long, she never lost patience, she provided comfort and support to both my partner and I in a non-intrusive way and she helped make the experience a positive one. We also appreciated the post-partum visit to talk about details of the birth since everything happens so fast and is so intense, some of it was difficult to remember! We were both extremely pleased with our decision to have Millie with us during this important time in our lives and hope that she will be a part of it again when we have our next child!

We originally hired Millie as our doula to support us at our hospital-birth. After learning we would be welcoming our son in a birthing center with a midwife, we knew we still wanted her to be there, and thank goodness she was! Even though we didn't need an advocate like we would have in a hospital, Millie was indispensable as an emotional and physical support to both me and my husband. She helped us cope at home much longer than we would have been able to alone. She was a pillar of strength for me to lean on (literally) at the birthing center, which allowed my husband to get some much needed rest before the sleepless nights which were to come. Finally, she was a constant reassuring voice whenever I had doubts in my own birthing power. I highly recommend having a doula, especially if that doula is Millie!

Having your first child is a beautiful, but daunting experience. Before Kasper was born in December 2012, I was quite nervous about how to handle it, especially since neither me nor my husband have family in Canada. I asked Millie to be my post-partum Doula, and I am so glad I did! From Kasper's first days until now at 4 months of age, Millie has been there for me to answer all my ("Is this normal?") questions, and help me make important and well-informed decisions. From simple things like allowing me to get some sleep, and how to wash a baby, to more difficult ones like breastfeeding, Millie worked with me to get through it. She always made it clear I could contact her with any question or concern I might have, and it made me feel so much safer and confident. I trust her to the extent that Millie was the first person to watch over Kasper so me and my husband could have a break outside. Millie is flexible and reliable, and carefully takes into account the personal situation and context of her clients. Because of that she has a strong individualized approach that ensures that her advice and care will work for you. For me, she has been, and will be, a safe-haven for advice and care!

One of the best things I ever did for myself was call Millie! She (along with her apprentice Jennifer) was a big help after the birth of my son. She helped me immensely with breastfeeding. I had different breastfeeding issues than the first time around with my daughter. Millie patiently showed me different breastfeeding positions and offered amazing tips such as using virgin coconut oil. She also taught me how to wear my son by showing me the proper way to tie a wrap. I loved how she interacted with my son - she talked to him as if he was the only baby in the world! It made me feel really happy and proud. The first couple of weeks post partum were much easier and more enjoyable because of Millie.

Those early days were a bit of a blur but I keenly remember Millie as a ray of sunshine in my sea of overwhelm. She taught me a ton of useful things I had no idea about, like how to express my breastmilk or wear my baby in a wrap. Not only is she super smart and resourceful, she is truly caring and compassionate. Millie is a no nonsense gem of a doula who rolls up her sleeves and takes on whatever is needed so mom and baby are happy and in harmony. I would highly recommend her to all moms to be. She guided me into motherhood like a real pro. Thank you Millie!

I am deeply grateful that we had Millie's help both with the delivery of our twins and then in getting comfortable with them at home afterwards. The practical help she offered was invaluable. Minutes after my babies were born, and despite my delirium, she helped them both to latch, thus establishing a pattern of synchronous breastfeeding that we're all still enjoying. Her food and company in the first month were equally nurturing. Millie was a warm, genuine companion - always professional yet completely present - in some of the most intense moments of my life. Her guidance helped our family get the best possible start together.

I am so happy and grateful for the help I got from Millie! She surely was a God's gift to me! She was helpful with questions about babywearing, nutrition, or just simply a good listener! She was my post-partum doula for my second baby. Having experienced a difficult newborn before, i was willing to put all chances on my side the second time around and I did well. I recommend her to any new mommy.
