When I got pregnant with my second child I was not only very excited but extremely scared. I have known for a while that I wouldn't have much support from family so I was a bit stressed on taking labor on myself after a traumatic first childbirth. Kate became my doula very early on in my pregnancy and was the person I went to for any emotional, mental, or physical needs. She would drop everything and make sure I felt healthy, safe, comfortable, and happy. Even before labor, she was guiding me through my very normal (but very difficult) symptoms & easing my mind. During my labor, Kate was the only thing that got me through the pain. I was able to get to 5cm without the epidural, which was much longer than I anticipated. When my epidural decided to  not work, I was in a lot of pain but was ready to push. Kate not only helped me by physically massaging me and making sure I was as comfortable as possible, she also was there for mental support, helping me power through a very challenging situation. She empowered me, made me feel not only comfortable but full of confidence and strength. After bringing my son home, Kate was right there when I needed her. Came to help me with my toddler, dishes, groceries, etc. My son is 6 months old and Kate is still asking how she can help me through this postpartum journey and how she can lighten my load. To say the least, I would be lost without Kate. She is not only a great and beautiful person, but the most phenomenal doula!! I recommend her to anyone that is going through or thinking of going through pregnancy!
