I'm so grateful that I had Heather's doula support for my birth. She supported me to have the exact birth I wanted in hospital and helped me to feel very confident going into the birth of my son. She was very attentive through the third trimester, she helped me create my birth plan, brought me pain remedies and taught me and my husband labour positions. She was always quick to respond whenever we needed her. When it was finally time to give birth she advocated for me and reminded me of my birth plan when I was too out of it to respond to the medical professionals. I ended up being able to have almost the exact birth I'd hoped for and I really thank her for helping me get there. She was also very kind and helpful in postpartum, she gave me massages and brought herbal remedies. I highly recommend Heather to anyone interested in working with a doula. She is kind, organized, reliable and a delight to be with.

We were so lucky to find Heather as our doula for our second birth. After having an emergency c-section for my first birth I knew I wanted someone who could support us with whatever happened during my second labour and delivery. Immediately, Heathers presence, understanding and knowledge put me at ease. For us, she was the perfect combination of evidence based, emotional support and a firm presence reminding everyone in the hospital that our wishes were the most important. When she found out I wanted to try for a VBAC, she provided us with resources and even attended a seminar herself.
If you select Heather as your doula, you will be well prepared for labour and delivery and supported along the way. Thanks Heather!

I wasn't even going to hire a doula. I thought about it when I became pregnant and just couldn't see how hiring someone would make that big of a difference. It was highly recommended to me to find a doula by my midwife and several other sources so I thought I would just talk to a few doulas at least. Best. Decision. Ever. My very first meeting with Heather I felt so comfortable with her. Having her support for me and my husband while I gave birth was the best decision. She took care of us in such a kind, warm and comforting way. It was never disruptive. She was so helpful and caring. She understands when to give space, when to offer support, when silence is needed and when encouragment is needed. She spoke up for me during the birth to ensure that my wishes were being honored as we had discussed them in our meetings when I was pregnant. Before giving birth and after she was always available to answer questions and help me solve issues. This was especially helpful postpartum, as being a new parent I was trying to figure out so many new things. If my husband and I are in Vancouver when I give birth to our second child I will contact Heather again. She's wonderful.

If you want a supportive, educational, and informative birthing experience I would highly recommend Heather as your doula. I had a rough vision of how I wanted my labour to go and Heather was a huge support for my partner and I. She came to our house later into my pregnancy and we talked at length about what I wanted, didn’t want and what I was on the fence about. Heather never judged my choices, but reinforced I was doing what was best for me and my baby.
When it was go-time, Heather came to our apartment and laboured with me. She immediately made the energy in the room calm and in her bag of goodies she had a tens machine which was a game changer for my long labour! She made the hospital room cozy with music and lights. I never asked her to do anything rather she intuitively knew what was needed; counter pressure during contractions, getting my mom and partner food, and educating me when medical decisions came up.
The delivery of my daughter is a little blurry in my memory (lack of sleep and so much adrenaline), so I’m incredibly grateful to have the photos Heather took of my daughter’s birth. She captured the love between my husband and I, and the raw moments right after my daughter was born.
Postpartum as a first time Mom, Heather brough soothing tools and aids to help me heal and responded to all my questions with her own experience and informative links to source my own opinion.
Finally, after a month of our baby being born, Heather did a family photoshoot with us. My birthing experience was amazing, and I have memorable photos to look back on. Our family is so happy we had Heather with us as a support and guide.

Thank you, Heather, for all the ways in which you supported us throughout our birth and in the time surrounding it! When I met you, I had sleepless nights about what I could do so that I had a birth partner and someone to look after our older child. I wanted our child around me, but looked after and my partner was the only person aside from a midwife that I could imagine at our birth. And then I met you. Everything changed. In the weeks leading up to the birth you answered all our questions, helped us plan the home birth like noone else did and helped me to find my confidence and my calm. At the birth, you brought a playkitchen for our daughter (amazing!) and then you were there with me. It ended up being the way that you were mostly my birth partner while my partner looked after our daughter, which felt right in that moment. Hearing her giggles in the next room and having you with all your calm, strength and knowledge by myside was perfect. You were there for me when the midwifes had not yet arrived. You were my main focus point even when they had. Whenever I felt that I could not do this, you squeezed my hands and looked into my eyes and said something along the lines of "and you don't have to do it like this. I have many more ideas (of natural pain relief) that we can try. Let's change it up". That was the best thing for me to hear in that moment, and also - you did!! You had so many great ways to help me feel more comfortable and ideas how I could help my baby move along. And when it was time for her to be born, you made sure my partner and sleeping daughter were right there with me. You gave us space to welcome her afterwards, and helped with the clean up. Heather, when I think of my birth I see you strong calm eyes. Thank you for all that you were for us - a guiding hand, a birth partner, a friend. We will always hold you in our hearts.
