I loved working with Maddie! She is so so special and she helped make my birth amazing. I had never hired a doula for my past births but I’m SO grateful I did this time around. I was trying for a VBA2C and I wanted to make sure that I tried all the things in hopes of having the most natural birth possible. Maddie is incredibly knowledgeable and sweet. She was specifically helpful in getting me connected with other people that were so pivotal in making this transition to a family of 6 as smooth as possible. She helped connect me with my chiropractor and a newborn photographer. Maddie was informed about labor positions that really helped things progress for me and was such a comforting presence in the space during my labor. She was responsive and professional but also comfortable and calming. I loved knowing we had someone else on our team who truly cared deeply for me and our whole family. I highly recommend In the Know every chance I get! I got my VBAC and I know Maddie played a pivotal role in helping us get there, she was and is such a blessing to me and my family! Thank you!

I cannot say enough about working with Maddie. As a nervous first time mom,  I really wanted to work with a doula who would educate and advocate for me. I knew basically next to nothing. Maddie helped empower me and my husband to feel comfortable and prepared during the entire pregnancy. She helped me reach all my goals and I could not have had a better labor experience. She is extremely knowledgeable, has excellent referrals, and is warm, patient and kind. She also is a great photographer and captured so many incredible memories for us. Thank you, Maddie!

From Dad's perspective:

Being naive to a non-traditional birth (non-medicated birth within birthing facility), I wasn't sure of a doula's value proposition compared to a traditional nurse or mid-wife. It became a lot clearer during our pre-birth consultations that Maddie offered a lot of value. On game day (birth day), Maddie showed up to win. She met us at the facility very early in the morning (~3a) and was very prepared to not just assist but lead us to the best birthing experience possible. Maddie was always a step ahead in her thought process of how to comfort my wife and proceed in the best fashion given the stage of the birth process. Our birthing process didn't go as planned and we had to move to an emergency surgery at the Hospital across the street from our birthing facility. Maddie was right there with us throughout the surgery and comforted my wife through the evening & night. Maddie supported us for 20 hours on our birth day, I could not be more satisfied with hiring Maddie and having her as our leader throughout our birth process.

From Mom's perspective:

I agree with everything from Dad's perspective. It was an emotional day with a lot of unpredicted and unplanned events. Maddie is like a best-friend or a sister in her approach. She showed a lot of dedication to our care prior to, during, and post birth. She's truly a wonderful person and a high-quality, professional doula.

Our experience with Maddie as our birth doula exceeded all expectations. Maddie has a warm personality and an innate ability to connect with others. Her face truly lights up when she talks about birth, displaying her passion for all things birth related. Maddie was able to provide valuable information and explain her role in such a way that we knew we had made the right decision in pursuing her as our birth doula. Meeting with Maddie in preparation for our birth helped us build a connection and to feel prepared and empowered for birth. When it came to the time of birth, we felt confident as we knew we had invested time, energy, and money into meaningful preparatory efforts. There are numerous ways in which Maddie goes above and beyond. She provided guidance about interventions that could be beneficial, such as a chiropractor & lactation consultant. She gave guidance about ways to naturally induce labor and helpful positions for when labor did start. We did our best to listen attentively, ask questions, and follow guidance, and for us, that resulted in an amazing birth process. It is important for us to share, particularly in light of ample horrific birth stories, that our birth process could not have gone any better. Prior to the birth, we felt knowledgeable about the birth process and understood what our goals were. We had prepared for various scenarios and had an idea of preferences for each. Having Maddie as our doula, improved our communication and our ability to connect and support each other leading up to, during, and after birth. The birth of your child is such a momentous experience; we could not imagine navigating all of the intricacies and challenges without Maddie by our side. She serves as an advocate, educator, support, and a friend. Any question or concern we had, she was responsive, informed, honest, and supportive. Maddie will forever be an essential part of the birth story of our son, and for that, we are forever grateful.

I originally booked with Maddie for birth photography, and then later decided to add on the doula service to asssist in my plan for a natural, unmediated birth, and I'm so glad I did! Maddie is absolutely amazing and is genuinely the sweetest soul. She not only knew every way to help me during labor-with position changes, encouragement, comfort, even helping show my husband ways to help me-she has checked in on me even months after my delivery on multiple occasions. I'm very thankful for what she provides and feel very lucky to now know someone as special as her.

Maddie was absolutely amazing during my water birth. I felt so comfortable with her immediately after our first meeting and knew I had to have her as my teammate. Because of her help I had the exact birth I’ve always dreamed of and will use her again if we have another baby down the road. A doula is a must for your birth, she was such an amazing part of my natural birth toolbox. I felt so much more informed on what to expect and felt that she was a true advocate for everything I wanted.

Hiring Maddie was one of the best decisions we made for our birth experience! We credit our smooth birthing process to her. My goal was to labor at home as much as possible and then arrive at the birthing center when it was closer to “go time”. She came over to our house to help me through contractions and made the call for us to head the birthing center when contractions got closer together. We arrived to the birthing center around 10pm and had our girl at 1:37am so I’d say we accomplished that goal! Maddie was incredibly supportive during the entire process and made it easy for my husband to also be a big support during that time. I felt extremely comfortable with her around which is important with this being one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. Maddie is also very organized and on top of things. I really can’t recommend her enough.

Maddie was our doula with our second baby and we absolutely loved her! I was attempting a VBAC and the number one thing recommended in doing so was to hire a doula. She was extremely knowledgeable and confident in helping me to prepare my mind and body for birth. When it was go time her calming presence and quick on her feet thinking is what got us through. She worked incredibly well with our nurses and was an amazing sounding board when having to make hard decisions, her support and honesty through the entire process was incredibly helpful. My husband and I would both recommend Maddie to anyone seeking a doula regardless of their birth plan!
