Caro was an absolute blessing to me and my family as we welcomed our first child, Evie, into the world. I connected with her through the Berkeley Parents Network and was immediately struck by her friendliness and calm presence in our introductory call. Caro came by our home for several prenatal visits, complete with helpful presentations to talk through, and a detailed birth plan outline that we filled out together. From laboring positions to pain management techniques, her knowledge and support helped us feel more prepared as first time parents, and helped our labor and delivery process go smoothly. Caro's background in biology gave her the perfect balance of evidence and empathy we were hoping to find in a doula. She consistently passed along helpful resources, and even helped me answer some obscure research questions of my own! Caro was also incredibly present and supportive during our labor and delivery process, first dropping by a few times during a multi-day induction attempt that ultimately didn't wind up taking, then showing up at 4 AM after my water broke in the middle of the night for our actual delivery a week later. Caro was there every step of the way, helping me work through the pushing phase and making sure I was remembering to drink water, and documenting the whole journey. She even wrote up a beautiful story of Evie's birth so we'd always remember the details of such a special day. Hearing her read through it during one of our postpartum visits brought tears to my eyes. I can't overstate what a joy it was to have Caro's help and support through this whole process. Being a first-time parent comes with a lot of anxiety and uncertainty, and with Caro's help, I came out of my birth process feeling empowered. I would unreservedly recommend Caro for any growing family, and especially those—like mine—who are welcoming a new member for the first time.
