Lu is an incredible doula and she was such a gift to our family. She has a calm, sweet energy, and every time she came into our home the whole atmosphere became peaceful. Lu was gentle and loving with our baby, and shared helpful information about newborn care and ways to soothe our gassy baby, we were always amazed at how much better he slept when she was on shift.

She helped us through some of our hardest weeks while we were triple feeding. She was patient, supportive, always ready to help, and her presence made such a big difference during those exhausting days. She did an amazing job helping our baby develop routines and shared helpful guidance that allowed us to get more rest at night. By the time she left we felt confident because our baby boy was sleeping much better at night.

Lu did so much beyond what we ever asked for. She washed bottles and breast pump parts and had everything ready for my breastfeeding sessions. She was so kind to our dog who absolutely loved her and was always excited when she came. Lu also helped with baby clothes and added little thoughtful touches that made waking up feel so much easier, she even brought thoughtful gifts when I was struggling, which means a lot! 

Lu was always on time. She also coordinated shifts with the other doulas so we never had to worry about arrangements, she offered recaps after each shift and left notes in the app we were using. Additionally, she stayed longer when she could so we could get more rest.

We are so grateful for her support and will recommend her to any family looking for a calm and kind doula.

I have worked with Lu for several months. Lu is incredibly dedicated to her work and to assisting babies and their parents. Lu does a great job of communicating with me and others I have seen her interact with to ensure clarity and alignment.

She has spent hours of her own time researching and providing me with invaluable information that always goes above and beyond. I am so grateful for what Lu has brought to us, and I can not recommend her highly enough.

I take all feedback seriously and always strive to provide safe, evidence-based, and compassionate overnight postpartum care so families can rest and babies can be supported in their current developmental needs. I would like to clarify that I was not sick during any shifts and that all health and safe-sleep guidelines were followed at all times. My guidance around feeding, soothing, and sleep was based on professional observation and best practices and offered with the intention of supporting both the baby’s well-being and the family’s rest. Any measures I used and guidance I gave were intended to support the baby’s comfort and help with sleep. My focus was always on ensuring the baby’s safety and well-being while helping the family get needed rest. Despite my continued efforts to support this family, including their requests for additional nights of care, it became clear that our communication styles and expectations were not well aligned. At that point, I made the ethical decision to end the contract with notice and provided referrals so their care could continue. My priority remains the safety, well-being, and support of the families I serve.

We worked with Lu for nighttime and do not recommend her. As new parents, we shared our boundaries. I shared that I wanted to delay introducing a pacifier to establish breastfeeding, yet Lu repeatedly pressured me to use one despite my discomfort, which left me feeling unheard during a very vulnerable postpartum period.

We were also concerned by several questionable practices. Lu put a hat on our baby while he slept, which goes against widely accepted safe-sleep guidance. She also kept bringing up increasing our baby’s bottle nipple size, even though we explained that a larger size caused sputtering and spit-up. Our daytime doula, whom we had a very positive experience with, also advised that moving up a nipple size would be too large, but Lu continued to be pushy for the change.

Rather than providing specific feedback about our son or how the nights went, Lu consistently shared overwhelming amounts of broad, generic information about babies in general. This lack of specificity caused significant anxiety and made us unnecessarily second-guess our baby's needs. She also suggested asking our doctor about tongue tie and switching to formula without any specific basis. When our doctor confirmed these were not concerns and we relayed that to Lu, she responded defensively.

Additionally, when Lu became sick, she would not give us a clear yes or no answer about whether she was still symptomatic before returning to a shift, which was concerning with a newborn.

Lastly, when we asked for more specific notes focused on our baby because the deluge of generic information was overwhelming, Lu told us she was not the right doula for us and ended support without any transition. While extremely stressful at the time, we later hired another nighttime doula who provided compassionate, individualized care.

Overall, Lu’s approach was pushy, nonspecific, and not aligned with evidence-based, parent-centered support.

Lu was a literal lifesaver. I was struggling really badly with postpartum depression and we finally caved and hired a doula. I wasn't sure what to expect. Lu stepped in and took care of everything at night. She cared for my baby like he was her own and always went above and beyond. I'd wake up to his little clothes being clean and folded, the bottles clean, and sometimes even the blankets in my living room folded. Truly amazing. She always seemed to know just what to say to help me feel more confident and grounded in my new role as a mother. Lu is a great addition to any family seeking out a doula. ??

Luisa is a fantastic doula. She was always on time, very gentle with the baby, and very informative in teaching us how to take care of our baby. We hired her as a night time doula and we were able to get good rest every time she came to look over our baby at night. She patiently answered all of our questions and always gave us guidance on what our baby needed when she reached certain milestones. I highly recommend her services who need doula needs.

Luisa was such an amazing doula, and we felt genuinely lucky to work with her. She has such a peaceful and generous nature, and she took incredible care of both us and our son. She has a way of anticipating needs, and always came to our home with a sweet and positive disposition. She would often send us follow up information about our son's stages of development, and helped us to implement better soothing and feeding practices when he was colicky. We saw wonderful improvements when we took her advice. We always slept well when she worked for us overnight, and she brought genuine love into our home for our son and our pup. We hope to work with Luisa again, and I would recommend her without hesitation.

Luisa's support has been invaluable to our family. We greatly appreciated her exceptional care for our baby, which allowed us to get much-needed rest at night. Her friendly and kind nature made the entire experience comforting and reassuring. Luisa not only cared for our baby but also provided helpful suggestions and tips. Luisa cared for our infant daughter overnight when our daughter was between 1-4 months of age. This is our first child, and I was so nervous about having someone else care for her (everything made me nervous!). But the moment Luisa came over for the first time and I saw her hold our daughter in her arms, I felt instantly calm. Luisa has such a calm demeanor and such a loving and respectful way of caring for and interacting with infants. I cannot recommend her enough!

Luisa has been absolutely fantastic to work with over the past few months. She is always on time (often early) and the text book definition of professional. She takes great care of our baby girl and goes above any beyond with her attention to detail both during the night and with recap/communication after the fact. We felt safe and secure knowing Luisa was in our home taking care of our little one and would highly recommend her to anyone needing some extra help with a young child.
