My wife and I interviewed Marie for the doula role for our second child. After our talk, I knew Marie was a good fit: she was attentive, well prepared, and knew how to help me as a father prepare for the birth (I.e. guided readings). She was a good match for our birth plan of no pain meds, meditation, massage, and visualization, for which Marie was amazing. Not only did she help me comfort my wife, she stepped in when I needed a break. Marie also helped me with my blood phobia, wherein she took the "downstairs" and I the "upstairs" during my child's birth. Following the birth, Marie continued to provide care as a postpartum doula with an overnight stay and meal prep, lifesaving indeed. She was also incredibly sweet with our first child by helping her understand her role as big sister. Marie provided all these services pro-bono as part of her certification, and I'd strongly recommend her for your north journey.

Marie assisted in the delivery of my daughter.  She was in training and offered her services complimentary to be compliant with her certification. Marie’s attention and kindness were without measure.  She was supportive and beyond compassionate, dedicated and knowledgeable.  When I had questions, she went out of her way to answer them- or even more impressive to me- was help me find the resources to get answers neither of us had.  Marie clearly explained the role of Doula and lived out the experience just as she described. She was the perfect balance of assertive and gentle and was never short of professional. My baby was breech and she spent hours with me at appointments trying every natural way we could to flip the baby without medical intervention.  I wanted a drug free natural delivery and Marie was paramount in making it successful.  She was supportive to not only me but my husband who was a first-time dad and anxious about the whole experience.  Marie was an asset to the hospital staff and a marvelous assistant to my birthing plan.

If you are looking for a doula with practical knowledge and personal experience with her own unmedicated births, Marie is your gal! Marie is an warm, knowledgeable, and supportive doula, and I would highly recommend her for your birth. I received complimentary services from Marie as part of her doula certification process. For my second birth, I was looking for a doula who was a mom and had personally experienced an unmedicated birth. Marie helped guide my husband and me on what to consider as we prepared for the birth of our second child. I found this planning very helpful, since I had pushed much of the birth process out of my mind after my first baby. During my birth, Marie came prepared with massage techniques, calming affirmations, and coaching that helped center me during my labor. Her Mary Poppins-style doula bag had a number of other comfort measures that supported me through my labor, including nice massage oil, coconut water, calming aromatherapy, healthy snacks for labor, and a fan. Marie's calm demeanor and confidence put me at ease. It made me feel more prepared to manage my contractions and navigate the questions from the doctor about my pain management and medication preferences. It was such a positive experience, and I'm so glad that Marie could help me make my goals a reality. After birth, we also received postpartum doula support. Marie cooked us meals, helped watch our children, cleaned, and even did an overnight doula visit. Her support allowed my husband and me some*much* needed sleep and relaxation. The postpartum period is so much harder than I anticipated with two, and Marie's postpartum doula visits helped ease my anxiety and exhaustion. My toddler also loved Marie - she is a natural with kids. In summary, Marie is a rock-star doula who can guide you based on her doula education and personal experience with natural birth, and she is well-equipped to help you during your postpartum period. She is wonderful!
