Courtnay was my postpartum doula who came to my home following the birth of my first child.  I struggled with so much anxiety during the first month since my husband and I were basically on our own.  My closest family member lives almost two hours away and having people reassure me over the phone that things would get better wasn't helping.  Courtnay's visits allowed me to be face to face with someone regarding my concerns/struggles.  There is a level of comfort that comes with having a third party show up for support versus family.  Sometimes family comes with the best of intentions but also a lot of opinions and biases.  Courtnay showed up to hear me and to help me be the best new mom I could be.  She provided me with helpful tips and gentle reassurance that the baby and myself were doing just fine.  She always brought a very calming and friendly presence which was a nice change of pace from my normal anxiety riddled state.  She helped instill confidence in me that allowed me to get out of the house and back to daily life activities that seemed so out of reach.  As a person who isn't used to asking for help I feel I can still reach out to her for support if I'm ever feeling overwhelmed. I would encourage soon to be new moms to reach out to Courtnay for their postpartum period and I believe she would have absolutely been a beneficial element to my birth as well!

Courtnay was an excellent person to have by my side at a time I needed someone the most. She helped in so many ways, settling my emotions, making my time in the hospital more comfortable and knowing she could be there at any phone call was huge.

She was so understanding no matter the circumstances, the fact that I was a surrogate delivering triplets didn't even phase her. The experience was about me when she was around which is what I needed. 

Woman need more people like Courtnay around!
