Relevant volunteer or advocacy work

CARROT & MAVEN CLINIC APPROVED. My birth worker and doula career started in high school, supporting a peer of mine who had gotten pregnant at the early age of 15. I absolutely fell in love watching her become a mother and knew this was something I wanted to do. I continued doing advocacy work for the expecting, and the underprivileged for many years before realizing that this could potentially be a career choice for me. After years of doing this non-profit, I decided to invest in myself to launch RoseMoon Birth Services. With the help of my paid doula and overnight newborn care work, im able to continue offering these services to the communities that sometimes need it most. Often, it’s the families who can’t afford these types of services that would benefit from them more so than others. In my free time, I continue to personally fight and dismantle systematic racism, while spreading love, empowerment and judgement free support. I also tend to dabble in the arts and crafts, and love on rescue dogs via volunteer work. To decompress, I love practicing my faith, and losing myself in the waves at the beach. 100% free doula support for teen moms, DV/SA survivors, and people in recovery. I meet you where you're at. I especially value the opportunity to work with any families that identify as LGBTQIA+. Ask us how we support gestational/non-gestational parents alike.

My husband and I are first time parents and we worked with Jessica as our postpartum doula. We used her services for the first 4 weeks post partum. She began working with us from our first night home, we were so grateful to have her with us. It was such a relief to have her there as a resource on our first night home. Over the 4 weeks we worked with Jessica she allowed my husband and I to get restful nights sleep so we could be the best parents to our baby during the day. I was exclusively breastfeeding until 3 weeks PP so Jessica would bring our baby to me during the night when he needed to eat she would burp him, change his diaper and get him back to sleep. I began pumping once at night and she would clean my pump parts, give our baby a bottle at night which allowed even more rest for my husband and myself. We were able to rest because we knew he was in good hands and she was taking great care our baby. Jessica always asked how our day was and would check in on how the nights were when she wasn't at our home. She always listened to our concerns, answered any questions we had and gave advice when we asked for it! She did not push any advice or opinions on us she would gently give advice but let us be the decision makers. I would recommend Jessica's services to all post partum families. Having her services helped smooth the major transition to parenthood. She helped us to be the best versions of ourselves for our baby in those first 4 weeks home. She helped us establish a good sleep routine and habits to get our baby sleeping well through the night! She also gave us confidence we continue to carry with us in our parenthood journey!

I hired Jessica as a postpartum doula for my second baby and can wholeheartedly recommend her services. We ended up working with her for 8 weeks (two weeks longer than we originally planned) and she made such a positive difference in my postpartum experience. Because of her, both my husband and I were able to get so much more rest than if we'd been on our own. Even though I was breastfeeding, as my baby got a little older/started sleeping longer, I was able to get a full night sleep because I would pump milk when Jessica arrived and she would give the baby a bottle in the night.

While the postpartum doula role is valuable in and of itself, what sets Jessica apart is her warm, positive, and supportive demeanor. She was not pushy about doing things a certain way and receptive to our requests. She always arrived at our house with a smile and was excited to see our baby. We always felt confident our baby was well cared for with Jessica. If we have another baby, I would definitely hire her again and would recommend her services to anyone looking for postpartum care!

We had such a great experience with Jessica! We utilized her overnight services for our second child and it was such a game changer for us! Knowing that she was taking care of our new baby as if she were her own, allowed us to get the sleep we needed those first few weeks post partum.

Jessica was refered to us by an acquaintance of ours who used her for birth and overnight doula services. We needed someone who had very specific credentials to support us, because we were using my husbands insurance.

Jessica supported us for 12 weeks, for about 4-5 nights a week. Upon the beginning of our professional relationship, I knew right away that she was a perfect fit and that she had such a wealth of knowlege to bless us with. She really took the time to sit and chat with us even before my baby came, to assure we felt confident in our choices, and helped us feel more comfortable about delivering in a hospital locally. (we were new to the area at the time) She gave us a step by step idea of what to expect with our place of birth, and brought up many different factors to consider that we never would have.

Jessica not only supported me mentally and emotionally, but also physically. My breastfeeding journey was a challenge from the start. No matter my decisions though, Jessica was very supportive and empowering through it all. I truly would not have lasted as long as i did nursing, if it wasnt for Jessica and all of her tips and suggestions/advice.

Not only was Jessica very thorough and focused on caring for my sweet baby, she also took care of my kitchen. This made the world of a differece, especially with a toddler in the home, knowing the entire house to be trashed within a few hours. Jessicas support was just so invaluable to me and my husband. She really went above and beyond every single time she was at our house. She sometimes helped re-organize the nursery andthe diaper caddy. The little things like that really made a huge difference.

Not only that, but my baby has been sleeping through the night without any issues, and has been since Jessica has been with us. Back to work has been so, so smooth with a baby that sleeps and eats well and i know i owe that to Jessica.

We cannot recommend Jessica enough to any family needing postpartum support.

Navigating through newborn life is hard and overwhelming. Jessica brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and passion. She created a calm and supportive environment that helped us feel confident as parents.

Jessica provided us invaluable assistance with every day tasks, teaching us the best tricks to feed, swaddle, and soothe our baby. She answered any question we had and helped us figure out how to make it through those long nights, for when she wasnt giving us that invaluable overnight support. We orginally inquired about 4 weeks of support, but once she started speaking of the gentle sleep shaping and the benefits of it, we knew we wanted to try it out. We had Jessica for a total of 6 weeks. She recommended a schedule of 4-5 nights a week for the first 2 weeks, with one shift being removed every week. She really focused on preparing us for when she would no longer be with us. My husband had mentioned that he saw the passion in Jessicas work and support because of how thorough and reassuring she was to us, as we begun to prepare to end the contract.

By the end of our time together, my baby girl begun sleeping through the night, with minimal interruptions. The current schedule we are on is one bottle (exclusively pumping) at 10pm, soothe, swaddle, asleep by 11pm. The next bottle is usually not needed until 6am. She wakes, we change her, feed, burp, soothe, play. it works perfectly for our family and we owe it all to Jessica.

We felt very comfortable with Jessica in our home. She went above and beyond each visit caring for so much more than just my baby, but also my home.

Jessica provides high quality care and support for those adjusting to life with a new baby.

I am so grateful for the support she provided, and so glad that I had the foresight to have a night doula to help through the first few weeks and months!

My husband and I found Jessica from a very close friend of mine who used her for her birth and for overnight help. I was also recommended to her by my midwife. I was speaking on my concerns for sleep, feedings, and basic recovery and who they would recommend for that. I was also using a benefit offered through my husbands employer - Carrot, so i needed a doula who could accomodate as such.

She immediately mentioned Jessica.

My first impression of Jessica was that she was outgoing, with a bright personality and a passion for being a girls girl. She immediatly reassured me that she was here to support me and the birth of my child as well as recovery and over all well being of me and the home, regardless of what that looked like. I could tell right then and there that this was going to be an expereience i will always cherish.

Jessicas first night with us began the first night we came home from the hospital. She arrived promptly at 9pm, had a chat about how things were handled during childbirth, she checked in with me about the nursing. Jessica took care of all of the baby laundry, she unloaded the dishwasher for us every night, she would wash & steralize all feeding/pumping parts. I mean she really did her due dilligience to make sure i was on a great start to a fulfilling road to recovery. All I had to worry about at night was emptying my breasts. She brought everything to me, without ever missing a step.

Jessica is the most non judgemental, open and caring women I’ve even met. No matter your preferences and choices for your pregnancy, labor and postpartum period, she will provide the support you need. Jessica is incredibly knowledgeable and reassuring. She is a prompt and clear communicator, and she surrounds herself with similarly brilliant women.

If you and your partner are searching for a doula, night nanny, overnight help, or even just a night off, Jessica is that person for you.

Two thumbs up and five stars for our experience with JessiceRose!

JessicaRose was recommended to us by our friends who had a really great experience with her, and we had the same experience - she was fantastic from start to finish. She visited us a couple times before labor to ensure we were comfortable, familiar, and informed, which was invaluable for us as first-time parents. Her rates were very fair, and she was non-judgmental and flexible and very responsive throughout the process. She was sure to prioritize what we wanted from our birth/birth plan.

During labor, JessicaRose took on various tasks such as shifting my wife during contractions and the epidural, keeping the room tidy, and providing support alongside the medical team who she had experience with previously at Henrico Doctors Hospital. This allowed me to fully experience the birth without being preoccupied with assisting the nurses.

My wife and I also loved her being there to take photos of the birth and our daughter's first moments of life with us, which was very special for us. Had JessicaRose not been there I likely would have had to be the one taking on the photographer role which would have sort of removed me from the birthing experience. This meant a lot to us.

We also contracted JessicaRose as a night nurse. We highly recommend doing so for the first couple of nights back from the hospital at a minimum. When coming back from the hospital from labor and recovery, you're exhausted and really needing a good night of sleep and having JessicaRose with us those first two nights went a long way in providing us sleep and having a confident and competent hand at home to help as we navigated this new phase of life with our child (changing diapers, providing tips for breastfeeding, etc).

She's a very kind person who we could only say positive things about so you should definitely consider her for doula and night nurse services!

Where do I even begin to express how amazing Jessica was for our family? We welcomed our first baby back in January and had not one clue what we were doing going into it all! Jessica was referred to us from our birth doula to help with nighttime support and we are SO glad we got work with her. She helped us for 6 weeks, coming a few nights a week from 10pm-6am. I truly don't know how we would have survived without her help!

Jessica provided an amazing support system, offering advice when I would ask and never pressuring us to do anything a certain way. It was always "whatever you want!" with suggestions when I felt like a clueless new mom wanting answers. She made me feel better in moments of doubt and always provided comfort when I needed it most.

Outside of the emotional support (which really is a bonus), she was SO helpful around the house. Jessica cleaned bottles, washed pump parts, did baby's laundry, helped keep our kitchen clean - every morning I came downstairs, our living room looked perfect. It was such an amazing way to start each day, when we knew the house would be turned upside down within an hour!

As a mom who started exclusively pumping very early on, she would bring pump parts outside of our room so I could pump in the middle of the night. I'd leave milk at the door and she would feed baby, change diapers, and get him right back to sleep! It is because of Jessica that our baby learned so quickly how to sleep through the night. She truly has a magic touch for connecting/soothing our little ones in the hardest times of the newborn phase.

If you find yourself thinking that having nighttime doula support is just a luxury that isn't necessary, I cannot recommend enough that you let go of the mentality and just dive into the amazing support you would receive working with Jessica. The nights of sleep she allowed us to have made us better parents and better partners to each other ??

Jessica is an energetic, friendly, and knowledgeable doula. She takes the time to get to know you, raises some great points that help you think about what you want iLife your birth experience, and gives you some exercises to help you prepare for the big day. During labor she was great at reminding us of things we discussed we didn't or did not want, was wonderful at trying to help keep me comfortable, and worked well with the staff. It was great to have another set of hands, and I'm glad we had a doula. After everything was over, Jessica came to check on us at home, and even sent a delicious meal when she learned I was having post partum complications. Jessica went above and beyond.

Jessica was our night nurse slash overnight postpartum doula for my family in the tuckahoe area for about 5 months, beginning the first night we were home from the hospital.
We originally started with 5 nights of support the first week, than slowly went down to 3 nights a week for the remainder of our contract.
She was amazing and so compassionate.
She really focused on my recovery and really made me feel so much better about everything that has happened, and is happening.
The first few weeks she also helped with laundry, the dishes, all the bottles & pumping parts, and my sweet puppy!
I ended up getting mastitis, and Jessica gave me so many tips and suggestions to help treat it.
I really was so very grateful for Jessica and all she has done for my family. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is having a baby or just had one!
Thank you Jessica - You were a literal life saver!

Jessica was such a great help to me in caring for my infant during the night for our first three months at home. She was reliable, knowledgeable and accommodating to the routine with my newborn. She had suggestions to help with a schedule when needed or help implement new feeding methods. I would recommend her for postpartum care and newborn care to help make the transition easier!

We cannot recommend Jessica as a doula enough!

She was so benefical to have as for birth and postpartum.

We loved having Jessica with us for my VBAC2C and the 8 weeks postpartum.
She is so sweet and caring. She took such good care of my baby! She fed, burped, changed, swaddled, and soothed so i could rest all night. She went above and beyond to make sure i was ok and i had everything i needed.
My husband and I would recommend Jessica to anyone who is having a baby at Henrico's Doctor. She knew my nurse and my midwife. I had a 25 hour labor, from early labor to the birth and Jessica walked me through all of it. She was a huge part of making my birth plan possible and happen. Thank you Jessica!

Anne

Jessica was our birth and postpartum doula for my VBAC2C. (I previously had 2 c-sections)

She was a rockstar during my labor. She helped and coached me the entire time - from my house to the hospital.

Jessica offered us to combine postpartum overnight help to my contract, so me husband and I had the luxury of acutally sleeping when we got home from the hospital.

Everynight she would let herself in at 9pm promptly, have a 10 minute check-in with me and/or my husband, and would then be given baby for the night. I would let her know if im nursing that night or letting her use formula or pumped milk and if I said nursing, we would agree on a time for her to bring her to me, or if we will let her wake up on her own to feed. When my sweet lindsay rae would be sleeping, Jessica was still kept busy in so many other ways. Because we got the meal plan addition, she helped prepare breakfast, prep dinner, and clean the kitchen fo me aswell. It was AMAZING. I can not give you a better word to describe it. My mornings always started off so well with that little (but big) gesture.

My husband even said something about it a few different times.  We really got so lucky with Jessica. I tell everyone about the experience I had with her. Shes been gone for one whole week now and the kicthen not being clean in the mornings, SUCK! I just have too many other things to worry about (like 3 children) to clean it before bed like I used to. My other two girls loved Jessica as well. My middle, Madison would wake up in the middle of the night sometimes from a night terror, and would go sit with jessica until she was ready to go back to bed.

Jessica is highly recommended! She is the real deal and I do not say that lightly. If you are looking for a doula... you need to talk to Jessica. there is nothing else I can say.

Jessica - Thank you! We thank you so much!

Jessica was my birth and postpartum Doula and I could not be more grateful for her. This was my second birth. I originally had another Doula that I worked with previously, but she was booked up and referred me to Jessica. Although I was sad I couldn’t work with the Doula I had last time, Jessica did not disappoint. She was very dedicated and attentive. She was experienced but also very compassionate.
Jessica came to my home to meet with my husband and I on two different occasions before the birth of my child. She was very detailed and I really feel like we learned so much from her. During one of the times she came over she spoke with my Husband one on one and showed him so many different things to help me. He really surprised me with how productive and useful he was. I could see his mindset changed a lot after his meeting with Jessica. Jessica was also extremely hands-on during the time I was at the hospital. She made sure I had enough time to make a decisions without feeling rushed, and made sure that I understood every decision that I had to make, and that was brought forth to me.
After she powered through the childbirth, with with me, we used her for overnight postpartum help as well. She took care of the baby all night so that me and my husband could rest. Every morning when I woke up, everything would be taken care of and I think that part made the biggest difference for me. Jessica will always hold a place in our family. We truly felt god put Jessica in our lives for a reason.

Jessica was my postpartum doula for 4 months from June to October 2023. My son arrived 5 weeks early and she was very accommodating to help earlier than I had planned. She was with us 3 or 4 nights per week from when we came home from hospital until my son was 4 months old. She was wonderful and I am so thankful to have had her help. She arrived each night on time with a cheerful, upbeat mood. If she was running late due to traffic or other unforeseen circumstances, she was quick to communicate. She was willing to help with anything I needed to help me get more sleep. This included things like  folding laundry, washing pump parts and bottles, or unloading the dishwasher. Thankfully, I had daytime help and didn’t have much for her to do other than care for my son but she was always asking what else she could do to help. She was always very responsive and communicated well. She was great with my very fussy, spitty baby. She was able to adapt to any changes I needed to try to get my son on a better sleep and feeding schedule. She was patient and kind with him. I did not use her for her birth services and so I am unable to speak about that.  I am forever grateful for the time she was here to support us.

Jessica was an amazing doula! From our initial meeting to the birth of our son, she was a great support/advocate and made the birth process much easier. At the last minute we had to transfer from our birth center to the hospital, and she helped us make that transition smoothly.

Both before and after birth she checked in on us to make sure we were doing well and to see if there was anything we needed or any questions we had. We would highly recommend Jessica to anyone looking to hire a doula!

Jessica is amazing! I highly recommend her! She was referred to me by an old friend of mine and let me tell you, she did not disapoint! Jessica is professional, curtious, nurturing, gentle, transparent, loving, and so bad ass. She really impressed me with how hands on she was and how much she really helped.

Jessica is an amazing doula. She is very dedicated to her career as a doula and I was just so grateful she was able to assist me.

Jessica was our doula for both of my sweet girls, now 2 and 6 months.

I had a c-section 10 years ago with my oldest son jacob. It was traumatizing to say the lease.

The last 2 times around, I knew I couldnt do this without a doula. (If only I knew what they were 10 years ago)

Jessica right away eased my anxiety about hoping for a VBAC. She knew exactly what to do and say every time. it saved me. my husband was a huge help thanks to jessica! She showed him so many things to do to me and for me during contractions, during labor,  and especially after we got home from the hospital.

Jessica was with me the entire time I was in the hospital. She soildered through like it was nothing. I felt so much better knowing she was there for me, and she made sure that I knew she was there for me. She was very compassionate and attentive. She was direct but sweet, and also professionaly straight to the point while making sure I was making the decision based off of what I wanted!

Fast forward to after we got home from the hosptial, Jessica arrived at our house promptly at 8pm to help me settle in. She ran me a bath and took care of my sweet newborn while i got to relax. When it was time for bed, I went and didnt need to get up a single time. Jessica brought my baby to me for feedings, and took her back when I was done. She even cleaned the kitchen for me. She sanitized all of my feeding/pumping parts, she cut some fruit up for my other children, and had the crockpot turned on right as she was leaving that morning! When it was time for her to leave, she brought me the baby monitor and clean pump parts. My baby was freshly changed and happily asleep. I woke up so refreshed and relaxed. We had jessica for postpartum support for a total of 9 months between both of my daughters. She was a life saver and a baby whisperer. We love her so much and we could not be happier with our professional relationship!

Jessica is an amazing doula! We are so blessed she joined us on our pregnancy and delivery journey! Thank you Jessica for your support and compassion throughout my pregnancy and during delivery. You helped me deliver my sweet baby and also heal my past birth trauma. You advocated for me at the hospital and I felt safe with you by my side. You stayed up all night with me and talked me through all my worries. It was the beautiful birth experience I always dreamed of. You were wonderful in supporting my husband throughout too, he was present and involved, with your guidance he participated with more confidence and was even able to cut the umbilical cord which he was hesitant about at first. Jessica you hold a special place in our hearts! Thank you for sharing our special day and looking back I can remember it as a day of joy and celebration. In addition you took lovely photos for us, capturing perfectly the precious moments our baby's arrival! I highly recommend Jessica as your doula to any pregnant woman as well as their partner!

Jessica was an exceptional asset to have on my pregnancy team, and I cannot imagine having to go through it all without her by my side. She is an absolute powerhouse, and helped me keep my sanity through a gruelling 47 hour labor. We spent nearly all day and night together at the birth center before eventually having to transfer to a hospital due to exhaustion. I hated the idea of having to go to a hospital, but felt a billion times more comfortable with the experience having Jessica there with me.

Her personality is relaxed and easy-going, making it easy to maintain a friendly and casual relationship, but super professional when it counts.

10/10 experience. I'll be recommending Jessica to any friends looking to have a baby in the near future. :)

Very active, took care of things we didn't know we even could. She stayed up all night taking care of mommy during labor.

We have used Jessica twice now. Once, a few years ago as a newborn nanny, and again just recently (about 8 months ago) for her doula services. She never ceases to amaze me. She helped heal me of my past postpartum traumas that i have lived with for years before working with her. Jessica holds a very special place in my heart and no, its not because we share the same name. Shes like the fairy godmother for postpartum moms. Highly recommend, although now she is getting harder to book if you dont plan out at least a few months ahead. Doulas book up fast from what ive heard so start early!

We loved Jessica!
First of all, we almost missed out on her because she waited to start the hiring of a doula process a little late.
Luckily for us, Jessica was able to squeeze us in & Im so glad she did! She was so good with the baby, & my other kids (2 & 4) both loved her as well! Every night they were so excited to see her, I started having her come a little earlier to help out with bedtime.
I originally just hired her for my birth, but after going home, I realized I'd rather play it safe & just hire her for postpartum help too. Almost 3 months later & she still is working with us. Our contract only started with 2 weeks and because of how great Jessica is as a doula, I just haven't been able to part ways with her yet. I really could not thank her enough.

Jessica loves her work and role as a Doula. She was so nurturing to our newborn baby and had plenty of resources to help navigate any questions we had. She offered to help with other household items to make our life easier which was so appreciated. Having Jessica care for our baby during the night gave us the extra rest and peace of mind we needed.

Jessica was wonderful.  Our family cannot sing her praises enough.  She is so warm and caring and has such a lovely manner about her.  She was prompt, efficient, neat  and left our house much neater than when she arrived.  But most important, she was so good with  baby Allison.  She left us detailed notes about the baby's progress during the night so we were all set in the morning to take over when Jessica left.  Everyone, including Allison, had a good night's sleep.  I am convinced she comes with a magic spell for babies.

If you are exspe ting and need/want a doula, Jessica from Rose Moon Services is your girl. Throughout my pregnancy Jessica has been a huge support system and very reliable. She has came to appointments to advicate for me if needed, brought me items for the baby as well as items to ease my pregnancy pains/complications, checked on my daily, educated me on the different options and resources I have available throughout my pregnancy, helped me come up with a birth plan, as well as schedule prenatal visits. Without having an awesome doula by my side throughout my pregnancy I don't know how i would have made it. I appreciate all the support through my time of need and don't know how i could ever repay you!??

Jessica is a kind nurturing spirit who I've leaned on in my many times of need as a mom of two. She goes above and beyond to make you feel supported and at ease and has such a great energy. She has been a huge help in my postpartum journey. Whether it is help with my toddler, around the house, or nutrition, her care made all the difference when my body and mind were struggling to handle it all. Thank you Jess!

I was terrified. I'm an older woman that was high risk with my 3rd pregnancy. My other 2 were very traumatic and I was so nervous about going through it again. Jessica made sure I left all that worrying af the door before I came in to give birth.
Jessica also did amazing with my husband. At first, he didn't want to help because of what he saw happen last time. But after Jessica had a few chats with him, I could tell he was ready to support me in anyway he could.
when I tell you this birth was completely different than the others, I'm not joking.
it was amazing. We had a delayed cord clamping, and we did a breast crawl. The nurses weren't very excited that I wanted to, but Jessica reassured everyone on the team that I would not be left alone, and we would give my baby a fair chance at trying. When I saw my baby lift his head to my nipple, I almost lost it.
I highly Recommend Jessica. She's professional, courteous, and very knowledgeable. She answered and showed up right away every time I needed her. So incredibly grateful.
thank you Jessica! You really helped me concur my biggest fear and everything was just fine, my baby is so healthy & beautiful and I know I couldn't of done it without her.

Jessica is an amazing Doula. As a first time mom, I was so nervous about possible interventions and I was so worried about making sure I had the birth I wanted. Jessica did not disappoint. She was clear, informative, caring, and very kind. She supported me in ways my husband did not know how. She also helped my husband become more helpful and productive rather than when we started, he was a nervous wreck. I also didn’t tear which I owe a huge thanks to RoseMoon for the breathing techniques and pelvic floor exercises! The overnight help and package she has for after we got home, saved us! She helped us get some real rest and I woke up to a clean kitchen, twice! I can’t wait to get pregnant again just so I can experience her as my Doula again! She is worth it!
