Amal Hammoudeh is truly an incredibly talented and passionate doula! Her "Training For A Mindful Childbirth" class was so helpul to both me and my husband. In fact, at the end of the class, her combination of information, supportive discussion, practice breathing, and preparatory exercises were so helpful that it nearly brought me to tears, as I realized it was exactly what I needed. It really prepared not just me (pregnant mother to be) in terms of thinking through what I wanted my birthing experience to look and be like, but also importantly, it helped my husband think about his role as my primary support person during the process. Her ice exercises allowed us to each realize how best to communicate needs during an intense time. Also, the breathing training was spot on for each stage of labor. I can't state enough what a professional and incredible birthing guide Amal is, and we recommend her as a doula to anyone looking for an informed and supported birthing experience!

I highly recommend Amal as a postpartum doula! Amal provided warm, nurturing care after the birth of my first child in June 2022. The day she visited our home was very hectic, with many people coming and going.  Amal immediately jumped in and began to help me with household and baby care tasks. She was then able to help me block out the chaos, so we could have a meaningful conversation. Amal was empathetic, non-judgmental, and easy to talk to. With no expectation of me sharing a complete birth story, she encouraged me to focus on the topics I wanted to discuss, listened, and helped me to find solutions.

Although I had seen a lactation consultant through our hospital, I wanted another take since I was still struggling with nursing and combination feeding. After Amal’s visit, I had new methods of getting my baby to latch and she had suggested new nipple/bottle types that eliminated my baby’s gas and helped with latching. Amal also baked tasty, nutritious lactation muffins, and left plenty for me to freeze for later snacks.

Amal continued to be available as questions arose and has extensive knowledge in all areas related to birth and childcare. She consistently offers helpful recommendations and resources, and my family has been so grateful for her compassionate support and care during this transformative time!

Amal also supported me in establishing clear boundaries and being assertive in what I want, despite cultural norms in Jordan which often make you shy to speak out. Being from the same culture, Amal was able to help me navigate this more effectively. I wouldn’t have been able to push back to suggestions with the right questions or manage other people’s feelings while I was managing my own.

I also appreciate how much Amal would respect my decisions and empower me to listen to what my body will need in that moment by reminding me that this is my own experience and my own body.

The methods Amal introduced to me and my partner in pain management, allowed me to move through the different stages of my labour more easily. Although I opted for an epidural, it failed, and so these methods became even more important as my body started pushing the baby out.

Im so grateful that I got my Vbac and had all the first moment experiences I didn’t have with my first born. The moment I saw my baby come into this world and placed on my chest was the moment I was yearning for and I cannot thank Amal enough for seeing me through this until the end. We loved working with her and couldn’t recommend her enough.

Having Amal as my doula during my last pregnancy, was the best experience I could I ask for. Not only is she an informed, trusted and professional guide through this journey, but also the best support to have by your side as you go through your labor and delivery, even as we worked together remotely.

My last birth was a traumatic one. I wasn’t properly equipped with the right information or expectations of what might happen, even with the team of doctors that were there that day. Amal helped me navigate the feelings around it, identify potential triggers and manage my way through them.

Before working with Amal, I was blindly trusting what the doctors had to say. My last birth was an emergency C-Section and I was told that the risks, although low in percentage, were not worth going through a Vbac. I was being convinced that undergoing another C-Section, which is major surgery, would be better for me than attempting a natural birth. Amal not only provided me with evidenced based information, but also equipped me to ask the right questions to make the most informed decision and identify what feels right for my body and my delivery. This also includes asking questions during my labor to ensure I am being offered the best solution.

Having Amal as my doula made my journey of giving birth, postpartum, traveling and settling in SO much easier. I had to travel overseas to give birth and it gave me so much anxiety being so far away from everything...my partner, my doctor, my house and everything within my comfort zone. She was with me throughout every step as I was traveling and she made sure the place I was staying in was ready for me when I arrived...she went above and beyond to make me feel more at home for these months that I will need to spend before the birth of my first baby. She attended my doctors appointments when I needed her and she attended birthing classes with me because my partner was not in town. Amal will always take the extra mile for me and I will forever be SO grateful for everything she had done to make me feel comfortable. When I got admitted to the hospital she made sure the room was comfortable and was with me throughout my entire journey until I got to meet my sweet baby. Until this day Amal is my support system and my go to for whenever I need advice, support or just someone to talk to. Thank you Amal for truly being more than just a doula and going above and beyond.
