I was very fortunate to have shayda be my doula. I'm a young indigenous mother so I was very anxious that I wasn't going to have proper advocacy. Shayda was my voice when I couldn't think properly or couldn't properly communicate. She also kept me grounded and always made sure I was okay with what was happening. She's also really good a problem solving especially because I couldn't stick to my birth plan so she was always giving me alternatives. Shayda really helped make sure that my environment felt safe and secure in my vaulnerable state. She also help me through labour and guided me through the whole process as this was my first baby. I had a rough labour but she always had something in mind to help me overcome it. She also really helped after I had my baby especially with my first shower which was hard for me as I was tired and just overall exhausted. She just made me feel safe, heard, empowered and she just encouraged me through all of it, I couldn't have had a better experience and friend.
