Post a testimonial for Kathy Lott

Both of my children were born via surrogate. Our first birth was in the hospital during the pandemic. As a first time mom who was having a baby via surrogate it was a very odd experience laboring in those conditions. Then when we had a unexpected bleed scare from the placenta it just took odd to traumatic. When our surrogate agreed to carry for us again a few years later we knew from the start we wanted to create a better birth environment & experience. I met with Kathy and we discussed at length not just the fears our surrogate Vanessa was experiencing about birth but Kathy also asked me about my fears. Giving myself the permission to state my own fears and desires for our birth experience regardless of the fact that I wasn't physically carrying my son. She wanted to create an experience that nurtured the mother within both myself & our surrogate. I knew we needed her there. We did still need to do a hospital birth just due to the complications of the previous delivery but Kathy was with Vanessa and us from the very start of labor. Coming along to the hospital and creating a totally serene environment. Dim lights. Soothing music. Aromatherapy. Massage and positioning for Vanessa. Checking in with all of us. Giving constant reassurance and teaching us all how to support each other in the birth. She spoke up for us, worked in tandem with the nurses and spoke with us about options all along the way. Every expectation I had she exceeded 10 fold. She was without doubt (and my surrogate Vanessa and I agree on this) the game changer in the room. We simply had a beautiful experience and I just wish I could have more babies so I could work with her again! Haha that parts a joke. But I do truly feel like Kathy will always be someone I call friend. And I'm so grateful I was able to experience her incredible ability to "mother the mother." If you are in search of a birth doula for home or hospital delivery; I could not recommend her more. The best. Period. ??

Kathy helped my family welcome our second baby, a little boy. I had some anxiety about going past my due date because my first baby was 2.5 weeks early. Kathy was always available to reassure me and it was great having someone to talk to when I had anxious thoughts that I wanted to resolve. During my labor, Kathy gave me advice via text and my husband helped me labor at home throughout the night. I was afraid to go to the hospital too early but my midwife and Kathy both directed me to go in after several hours and I was dialted enough to be admitted (I wouldn't have gone in without their advice as my water broke with my first baby and had no idea that sometimes you can be 7 cm dialted without your water breaking!). Kathy met us at the hospital and brought such a calming and wonderful energy. She gave me massages with some wonderful lavender oil and bolstered me with kindness. Our baby boy came healthfully (just a bit liquidy which affected his hearing test, which Kathy said not to worry about, and he passed the follow up test beautifully!). I would absolutely recommend Kathy to anyone looking to add to their team of support for their childbirth journey. She is kind and knowledgeable; a complete joy during a time where I didn't have all the answers and relied so heavily on others. Thank you Kathy, for helping me with my little Koa.

First of all, everyone needs a Kathy Lott in their life. As a photographer, watching her take care of another mother at a homebirth I was photographing left me in awe. I knew then I personally needed her for the surrogacy that I was about to embark on. Kathy brings a peace like no other. She's very knowledgeable, and very attentive to every detail and need. She brings the calm when there's a storm. Needless to say, our surrogacy birth was hands-down, one of the best births I've ever experienced. I have four children of my own and I wish I had Kathy then.
She helped me breathe and relax my mind when it came to pushing and getting through every moment of that labor. My husband and friends that we carried their baby for all agreed that she made this experience so much more special. When we were in the hospital room, we felt like we had a voice with Kathy being there. You see, we carried our friends other son three years ago ironically, right on Easter as well and with the pandemic, the hospital felt cold and scary, which turned into a very chaotic delivery. She helped us all close that chapter of that book and said that this one is going to be rewritten and my goodness was she right! If you are looking for a Doula, Kathy Lott is literally hands-down, the best! I will forever tell people about her. I just wish she could be my Doula for life outside of delivering a baby lol. Kathy, thank you for changing our lives and helping us experience, one of the most amazing births I've ever had.

We had such an amazing experience with Kathy from start to finish. Her caring personality and soft touch sets her apart from many. She is truely one of a kind. She is extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of pregnancy, birth and post partum care. She makes you feel so comfortable in the birth space and respects all your decisions. She's the biggest advocate for you and your family! Thank you Kathy for helping us birth our baby girl. We'll always be grateful !

Kathy is amazing and was such an answer to prayer in our birth story for our third child! I had two medicated births before but really wanted to have a natural birth even though I felt very unprepared. Kathy assured me that I would be able to do and gave me the hand rails and peace I needed to continue. The moment she walked in when I was in labor, to helping me post partum she was a joy and peace to be around. She shared wisdom and encouragement to not only me, but my husband, leading up to labor which continued on throughout the whole process. She gave my husbands ways he could support me to allow him to be apart of the labor experience. I never want to have another baby without her!

Kathy is not only an amazing doula but she is just truly an amazing human being. I genuinely don't think I could have managed labor and delivery without her. She was a strong support system for me and my husband. Her voice and presence were gentle and soothing when everything else felt like chaos. She brought me back to the reality that my body was made to birth every time I said "I can't do this". She guided me during each contraction and reminded me to relax certain parts of my body to benefit from every contraction. My husband was able to watch her and take cues from her so that he could also support me just as well. She gave him a sense of calmness also. She knew exactly when to request the midwives. I was able to text her anytime and she helped me through many episodes of prodromal labor. It's weird to say because now she feels like part of our family, but she is worth every single penny we paid for her doula services! We will hire her again for any more pregnancies we have.

We were referred to Kathy by a friend and heard the best things about her. Upon meeting her, we instantly felt her warmth, compassion and expertise. She made myself and my husband feel supported before, during and after delivery with prenatal and postnatal sessions. She was a wonderful resource, answering questions and always present during the weeks leading up to delivery. During labor she was incredible and helped me achieve the unmedicated birth I had hoped for. I could not have done it without her guidance, birth techniques and calming spirit. She and my husband worked as a team and got along great. She reminded us to advocate for ourselves and truly respected our birth plan. I highly recommend Kathy to any one looking for a birth doula. She is a wonderful person and would make a great addition to any birth team.

I had an amazing experience with Kathy! Very loving and gentle soul and senses whet you need even before you know you need it. I was super nervous about mental part of labor and she definitely made it easier than I expected.

If you're looking for a doula who has a positive presence, is nurturing and kind, accepting, and fully focused on your birth and respects your wishes, Kathy is all of these things. She was able to respond to my needs as they changed and shifted during my birth. Initally thinking I'd prefer hands-on, she approached my birth that way. When I asked for a hands-off approach during labor, she responded and was engaged in ways that I needed, just by listening and observing me. Kathy has a very gentle spirit. She's one of those people who is consistently positive and supportive. I am grateful we had her on our team.

Kathy was an instrumental part of our birth. My husband and I were always on the fence about adding an additional person to our birth space but looking back knowing it wouldn't have been the expereince without her. I had a long labor (24 hours) and she was present and positive the entire time giving my husband the opportunity to take a break and supporting us through every decision we made with no pressure just education and support post-partum. Kathy is going to be one of the first people we hire for our next birth without a doubt.
