Olga was exactly what i was looking for in a Birth Doula. I started interviewing doulas at 38 weeks, Olga was able to get on the phone with me the same day and help figure out if we were a match. I appreicated in that first call that she had prepared material about herself as many others I talked to seemed like they had never given their "pitch" on a call. 

I had done a lot of classes and independent research, but this was my first baby. I was not looking for someone for emotional support as much as i was looking for someone to help me get the birth I wanted. After reading stats that doulas reduce c-section rates by around 30% I was convinced to find one. Olga helped shape her program to fit our needs, we did a long in person prenatal session to replace doing that slowly over a few weeks (since i was late to get started), and met over zoom once. 

Where Olga truely shined and what I wanted her the most for was the birth. She helped us navigate laboring at home and came over to my house, she provided me with a tens unit (which was so helpful) and was prepared with techniques to progress labor and how to apply them to my situation. we did positions, and exercises and counter pressure. She helped my partner know what was normal and helped us hold off on going to the hospital too soon. 

I wanted an epidural but didn't want to get it too early to avoid a cascade of interventions if not enough progress could be made. I credit a lot to Olga that i was able to hold off long enough and make great progress before getting to the hosptial and then before getting the epidural. even after getting the epidural baby had not descended enough and Olga helped us to negociate with the nurses for a position that would help with progress. After doing that baby descended to a great position and i was able to only push for 18 minutes!!

I cannot reccomnd Olga more, and think anyone would benefit from working with her!

Having Olga by my side made a world of difference in my birth experience. She was with me all through labor, calm, reassuring, and fully present. Her constant support, positive affirmations, and belief in me gave me the strength and confidence to trust my body and achieve the unmedicated VBAC I had hoped for. She also guided my husband beautifully so we could work together as a team. I truly felt supported, empowered, and cared for every step of the way.

I cannot recommend Olga Maksin highly enough. From the very first conversation, she put us at ease with her calm, grounded energy and wealth of knowledge. Her easygoing nature made every interaction feel natural and reassuring, which was exactly what we needed during such a vulnerable and transformative time.

What truly stood out was the incredible quality and usefulness of her advice. She offered evidence-based guidance that helped us make informed decisions at every stage, without ever being pushy or overwhelming. Whether it was navigating birth plans, understanding hospital procedures, or preparing for postpartum, her insights were practical, thoughtful, and empowering.

She also connected us with excellent resources and references—from helpful reading materials to trusted professionals—which made all the difference in feeling prepared and supported.

Above all, Olga is just a wonderful human being. She brings warmth, empathy, and a quiet strength into the room. Her presence during labor was both comforting and encouraging; she knew exactly when to offer gentle suggestions and when to simply hold space. It was like having a deeply trusted friend who also happens to be a seasoned expert.

My only regret is that I didn’t have her with me during my first labor—her support made such a profound difference this time around, and I can only imagine how much it would have helped then, too.

We’re incredibly grateful for her role in our journey. Having Olga as our doula was one of the best decisions we made, and I wholeheartedly recommend her to any expecting family.

I'm so grateful for choosing Olga.

 Felt that I have someone that is always there for my benefit and won't let anybody decide for me while I'm in pain during labor.

She was always interested to gelp and advice and worked with her heart before , during and after labor .

 It felt like Olga is part of my family, always feeling good with myself and accepted by her.

We are so grateful to our amazing and wonderful doula Olga. She is super knowledgeable and has amazing experience. Our first boy was breech so he was a c section delivery and with our second birth we wanted to try an unmedicated vbac. My husband and I were both nervous and not sure what to expect but Olga made us feel at ease and confident. She was so amazing in the birth room, coaching me as I was going through the contractions and helping me get into positions to engage baby down into the pelvis. With the help of our medical team and our amazing doula, we were able to have a successful unmedicated VBAC. We highly recommend The Birth Companions and especially our sweet and amazing doula Olga!
