I found Shannon through a search for someone local to teach us the Bradley Method. I liked that the class was small and in her home, being my first pregnancy this made me more comfortable. She was very open and honest and we had some good laughs too. She was always very positive, supportive, and understanding. All the qualities I wanted in a teacher and especially in a doula. My husband and I decided that since he has an issue with hospitals/blood and fainting that having a doula was a must for us. I also liked that Shannon had personal experience on both ends, natural birth and c-sections. I very much wanted a totally natural Bradley birth but you never know what will happen. During labor it was so nice having Shannon there to give my husband a break. She rubbed my back and reminding me to stay calm and I didn't have to worry about anything but getting through the contractions. She worked really well with my nurses and even reminded my mom who had a natural 12 hour labor with me that everything was okay. After trying all the tricks and 14 hours with little progression I decided it was time to get my son out safely with a csection. My mom came to the OR with me since my husband couldn't handle it. It was so nice not worrying that he was sitting there alone and scared and he had Shannon to comfort him. Having her as a doula was just as crucial for him as it was for me. We are both so grateful to Shannon for making our birth experience so calm and well educated. Although it wasn't the birth we had planned we ended up with a healthy baby and I felt safe and well cared for. Thank you Shannon!

My husband and I took a Bradley Method class with Shannon. She taught us a very "real world" kind of class. She focused on natural childbirth, which was our goal, but she also prepared us to know about possible complications and interventions. We were grateful she did because our labor did  I not go as planned. In the midst of everything, we were able to quickly understand the issues  and doctor talk,  which helped us to stay calm. Shannon was very factual and non judgemental about choices couples made. She is approachable and is willing to answer questions. She provided us with great resources and tactics to get through labor as a team.

Shannon was a real asset to our birthing team. She teamed up with my husband to make sure that I was comfortable at all times, both emotionally and physically. When my labor stalled she reached out to other doulas to look for a solution, which lucky for us she did because the techniques that she learned worked! My husband and I owe a lot to Shannon and are very happy that she was with us!
