Alyx is amazing! She's super down to earth, knowledgeable, easy to reach, and flexible to work with even the craziest schedules (like ours). Not only did she answer all of our questions and help us navigate through important paperwork (new baby stuff), but she made herself available when we had to change the birthing plan last minute. Alyx made my partner and I feel supported throughout our time with her and she made the transition from pregnancy to new parenthood much smoother than it would have been without her. We are so grateful to have worked with her ??

Alyx was really awesome! She really helped put us at ease before and during labor and delivery. We hadn't had very positive OB appointments, so having her be supportive, encouraging and a positive energy was something we really needed. She was very knowledgeable and helped empower us to make decisions and feel great about them. She gave me some awesome tips and advice which we truly believe helped make our birth experience better than if we had not had her as our Doula. We highly recommend!

As a first-time mom, I was nervous and had many questions about giving birth. Having Alyx as my doula was exactly what my husband and I needed to feel confident and informed. I’m happy to say that my birthing experience was pleasant and I couldn’t have done it without her. I chose to have my placenta encapsulated, and I feel it has made a great difference. Even from lack of sleep, my energy is better, and my postpartum bleeding is lighter. If having a great support system is important to you, then don’t think twice about having Alyx as your doula!

For my first pregnancy, I knew I wanted to have the support of a doula. I had never experienced pregnancy or birth before so I was looking for someone to help support my husband and myself through this new experience. I also knew I wanted an unmedicated, water birth at a birth center. I was lucky enough to be matched with Alyx and felt comfortable with her right away. She met with me multiple times throughout my pregnancy and brought so much positivity and wisdom when I needed it most. She helped me to feel comfortable and confident in my pregnancy and leading up to the birth. When it was baby time, she helped to support me by saying everything I needed to hear while having contractions. She also helped support my husband when he needed it. Her encouragement was so helpful, and she helped make me feel very grounded. She was also kind enough to take photos during delivery, which I'll cherish forever! I am so glad that I met Alyx and had her there for me during my pregnancy and birth. I truly believe I couldn't have done any of it without her support.

Oh, Alyx! Words can't quite paint the true impact that she has made on myself and my family during our most recent birth. I birth my babies fast, and somehow she still managed to get to our home, tidy my room, take pictures, set up my birth playlist and give me sips of electrolytes before I birthed my baby during his one hour labor. She also made sure to visit us at the hospital after a very difficult postpartum transport and our son needing NICU support, giving me words of comfort, love and connection that I deeply needed during that time. A good doula is one that impacts the whole family for the better, whether the birth goes exactly as planned or not, and Alyx always managed to hear me and respond with the most intuitive, heart-balm words during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I'm so grateful for all that she did for us!

We couldn't have been more fortunate to have had Alyx as a doula for the birth of our first baby. She was fantastic in so many ways, however there were a few specific things that really made the world of difference to our experience. 

1. From the start Alyx made it clear that she wanted our birth to be about myself, my husband and our entrance into this new phase of life - and her role was support that in anyway she could. She shifted my mindset around what the birth experience could be, and how we could use it as a launch pad to really cement our relationship as the foundation as we entered this new chapter. At no point was it ever about her, it was always about us and supporting us. 

2. I can honestly say that I don't know how my birth would have gone without Alyx in that birthing room. With 4 hours of pushing, there were definitely moments where I was at the end of my rope and didn't know if I could keep going. She somehow always knew the perfect moment to step in with words of empowerment or with a practical suggestion. She ensured I was hydrating and getting sustenance, which ended up being so crucial. She was amazing in that room & I can't imagine giving birth again in the future without her there. 

3. Alyx was available for as many or few sessions I wanted to meet before and after our birth. She gave time above and beyond what was required. I felt that I could reach out with anything at anytime and she was always there to help. 

Thank you Alyx. You made a world of difference and such a positive impact on our birth story. We will both be forever grateful.

Alyx was amazing! I decided to get a doula for my third baby as I was doing it completely alone and she was great the whole time. We met up during the pregnancy and talked, got to know each other. And then she was my rock during labor! It was my first labor without pain management and without family in the room and I honestly don't think I could have done it without her! She came over to check on us a few times after we got home from the hospital and brought me coffee ?? she even still checks in on us from time to time and my son is a year old now. I could not imagine a better experience than the one I've had with Alyx!

Alyx was exactly the doula I needed. Her support, input and guidance before, during and after birth was rooted in a holistic approach all while being grounded, clear and well rounded. She was an amazing resource for helping me navigate all that comes with labor. Alyx's presence during my birth brought me an immense sense of ease. She advocated and supported me exactly how I wanted. I would without a doubt have Alyx be my doula again.

I matched with Alyx pretty late in my pregnancy (the week before I went into labor--we barely had time for a get-to-know-you visit!). When I met her I felt an immediate sense of action, excitement, and empowerment from her and knew she was the right choice!

Alyx was an angel from the get-go: hyping me up while in the early stages, and once I reached active labor she was instrumental in making sure I stayed hydrated, supporting me and my needs during contractions, and being mine and my baby's advocate to the healthcare staff. She helped me stay focused on the most important thing: my baby and getting her here safely. I had planned on a natural birth at the birth center but ended up getting transferred to the hospital. I was tired after what felt like an eternity, and frustrated that my birth plan was falling apart. I was being very stubborn about receiving pain management. There was a point where Alyx looked into my eyes and said, "Mama, there is a difference between laboring and suffering, and you are suffering." That gave me the courage I needed to get the epidural, which ended up being the best thing for my labor and my baby! I got to finally have a rest, and when I felt like pushing I was in a much better mental state and knew I could do it. Four hours later, my perfect baby girl emerged into the wide wide world!

I feel so incredibly blessed to have had such a positive birth experience, even after 52 total hours of labor, and owe a great deal of my happy birth memories to Alyx's involvement. She was amazing during labor and so helpful and considerate afterward! She has such a strong, tender heart and truly cares for her clients and their babies. I am so grateful to have had her as my doula! I believe that a doula that understands you and understands the difficulty and miracle of bringing new life into the world is an essential right of laboring persons: everyone deserves support from someone they trust, and I trust her with my life.

I wouldn't recommend anyone else as a doula. Alyx supported me through both of my pregnancies. She gave me peace of mind knowing she was just there. Both times I gave birth in the hospital and when I wasn't able to fully express my wishes she made sure they were honored the same as they were in my birth plan by all the staff. My husband and I being the young parents we are couldn't of been more lucky to have someone like her with us through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum! 
I also used Alyx through my placenta encapsulation process. She picked my placenta up from the hospital in a timely manner keeping it cool, safe and sanitary. I got my placenta caps in the next couple days with a few other special birthing gifts. She took the time to make prints of my placenta and a heart out of my umbilical cord for both of my pregnancies. When I was healing that was the best feeling.

Working with Alyx was an incredible experience. Our prebirth meetings were very helpful in having information presented in a straightforward and thoughtful way. We felt empowered and equipped with the info and resources we needed to help navigate pregnancy and prepare for birth. During labor, Alyx was masterful in stepping forward when needed and being in the background when appropriate. We can’t imagine not having Alyx with us during labor. She was the exact person we needed in the room to help us move through the challenging and transformative experience of birthing our son. She also took amazing photos that we will cherish for all time<3

Alyx entered my birth experience at a unusual place, the delivery room. Despite stepping in to a chaotic situation, she managed to step into the role of Doula perfectly, giving me the peace of mind I needed. Alyx's postpartum care was also exceptional. I can't recommend her enough.

I met Alyx in April for the birth of my first granddaughter. She was amazing. She catered to my daughters every need. She even made sure my son in law was still breathing. In the middle of everything she also managed to get some beautiful pictures to remember this wonderful experience.  I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a doula, you wont be disappointed.

When I started looking for a doula the lady I was in contact with things just didn't work out I was already over half way through my pregnancy so I was nervous with meeting anyone else but after my first conversation with Alyx her vibe just matched mine and I felt super comfortable. My birth was nothing like I planned and I couldn't have been more thankful to have her by myself what she did for me while I was in labor made me want to become a doula she was helpful and supportive and overall a calming presence unfortunately she was able to be there while I delivered because I had a C-section but the time we spent together was so comforting I'm been so lucky to have her meet our little one and going to miss the visits

I was fortunate enough to be able to have my placenta encapsulated by the wonderful Alyx and let me tell you… the difference they’ve made in my hormone transition during this fourth trimester has been massively noticeable. Before I started taking them I was crying out of the blue, and would have these massive sudden shifts in my mood and emotions. The stress of having a newborn and adjusting to that new life and lack of sleep is something you really just can’t prepare for. The hormones in the placenta aided in reducing that stress with all the oxytocin present.
I am so grateful for this gift of health my body made and for not experiencing lasting postpartum depression. If you can afford this service it is 100% worth it. Alyx at Earthside Traditions is so thorough, professional, documented, and loving in her treatment of your placenta and I couldn’t recommend her more. ??? oh she was also able to dry my umbilical cord, even though it was insanely tiny! (Her cord was only about 6 inches long at birth!)

My experience with Alyx being my doula was nothing but amazing! I sought out a doula after wanting more advocacy and support during my home birth. She was there for me before my midwives even arrived and was the first person I called when I was in early labor. Alyx also displayed a positive outlook during my whole birth. She came prepared with essential oils, electronic candle lights, and Bluetooth speaker with music that provide a calm and soothing environment. My labor was long and exhausting in which she was there for not only me but my husband as well. She made she my husband and I were fed and hydrated, which was the last this that was on our mind. The support during labor was great but it only continued postpartum. Alyx's postpartum visits were helpful as well for she helped with cleaning, brought food, and even a good conversation. She would also often check in on me between visits to just see if I was okay and that was thoughtful and kind. I would love to have her as my doula again and highly recommend her!

Alyx helped me through one of the most amazing times in my life with such care, empathy and education it was truly wonderful. I was pregnant through the pandemic and was matched with Alyx through my insurance. We were only allowed to have a limited amount of zoom meetings until I was in active labor and then we could meet. When I tell you I felt like I have known her forever through our first zoom meeting I truly mean it. We talked about my fears, concerns and questions. She gave me educational information to help calm my fears. When I started contracting at 1:30am my husband texted her and she was there on the other end of the phone helping him take care of me. Making sure we were headed to the hospital at the best time. We met Alyx in person at 4am on a Saturday in front of the emergency room. She parked our truck to make sure my husband never left my side. She was there through all 36 hours of my labor, being my advocate, helping my husband. Making sure we were trying everything to get me comfortable, and keep me and my baby safe. She made sure my husband felt comfortable and informed, she kept us feeling safe. I highly recommend Alyx as a doula. She is truly the best decision we made in our birthing plan. Thank you Alyx.

Luckily I've known Alyx for about 13 years, so when I found out I was pregnant, it was a no brainer to ask her if she was available to be my birth worker. Now with a one month old and looking back at my birth, I can't imagine having done it without her. We had a birth center natural birth planned for our first child and nothing went as planned. We wound up in a hospital for 24 hours with lots of medical interventions, and it was far from "natural". Alyx helped me and my partner to understand and accept our new birth plan. We are so thankful that she was willing to drive up to Portland for us and spend 50+ hours waiting and helping while I labored. Nothing about our baby's birth was easy, but our amazing doula took a lot of the stress off our shoulders. She cooked, cleaned, pushed on my hips through contractions, knitted, took beautiful photos, and shared stories and advice with us. Alyx's knowledge and experience didn't stop at the hospital. She continues to check in with my partner and I, send helpful info about postpartum, and sends sweet encouraging messages. I love Alyx, and I'm so lucky to have been able to experience such an important day with her, she's part of our little family now and forever!

Throughout my pregnancy Alyx was a comfort to my husband and I; she offered counsel, suggestions and reinsurance. When delivery arrived, Alyx was a calm presence. She knew when to step in and when to give space, allowing my partner to also feel included in our birthing experience. Her guidance and nurturing made me feel safe and heard. She was prepared to advocate for my wishes and absolutely helped me achieve my goal of an unmediated VBAC.

A Doula, to me, should embody strength, serenity, joy, tenderness and a deep intuition in the process of birth. Alyx is exactly that. There was a moment, deep in the throes of labor and nearing transition, where my husband left for a moment and it was just Alyx and I in my dimly lit bedroom. I was laboring over a yoga ball on the ground and I could feel Alyx holding such a presence. She started reading a birth poem, call it a prayer or a meditation or spiritual offering. While she read it, she would sometimes pause while I had a contraction, and sometimes continue reading during the contraction. It is one of my favorite memories from my labor, simply because she knew exactly how to tend to me in that moment. 
Alyx has the spirit and wisdom of many birthing ancestors within her, and I'm so grateful she was there for me, my baby and my family.
