Postpartum limits/restrictions: The early newborn days are beautiful and also exhausting in ways no one can fully prepare you for. You were never meant to do this alone. At Chicagoland Birth & Baby, our postpartum doula and overnight newborn care support is designed to help families move through those first weeks with more rest, more confidence, and more support. Whether you need a full night of sleep, help settling into your new routine, or simply an experienced, calming presence in your home, we’re here for you. Imagine waking up feeling rested enough to actually enjoy these fleeting moments with your baby. That’s not a luxury, it's support.

Attends hospital births? All Hospitals
I support clients at all hospitals across the Chicagoland area. Our most frequented hospital is Evanston Northshore with the NSAGO midwifery group, but support hundreds of families across the area in both low-intervention physiological births and high-risk/ high-intervention births. Each family has their own unique story and needs that deserves compassion and personalized support to have a birth experience they feel is positive and empowering.

Attends birth center births? All Birth Centers
We support births at all birth centers including those in southern Wisconsin.

Attends home births? Some Home Births
I enthusiastically support homebirths with the midwifery model of care. Homebirth is a lovely and safe option for most families who are interested in this environment.

Having trusted support in both birth and postpartum has been a longtime passion of mine. I started my career in the clinical setting within a typical OBGYN office and pediatrics. I had my own two children and two very different birth experiences throughout my 20s. One semi-high-risk, unmedicated, doula-supported birth and one very high-risk, semi-medicated premature delivery with a NICU stay. The difference between having a doula and not having one was a turning point for me and my future career path. I have been on both sides. Once my children grew older, I embarked on a journey to provide doula support to local families both in pregnancy and postpartum. I describe myself as a "chill" doula. I don't have strong opinions on how anyone should give birth or raise their babies, just that you have the support, tools, and autonomy to have an experience or make the choices that feel right for you and your baby.

I can't speak highly enough about Tia and her team! The birthing course was highly educational and my husband and I learned so much we didn't even think we needed to know. As first time parents who live far away from family, it was such a relief to have allies leading up to birth, and in the hospital by our side. Even after we brought our girl home, Tia made time to check on our family and offer tips and tricks. They truly made all the difference and were 100% worth the investment. We'd use them again in a heartbeat if our family continues to grow.

We couldn't have been happier to have both Lisa and Tia on this journey with us. The support and presence we received was irreplaceable. I was apprehensive about how to chose a doula and what I was even looking for in the beginning, as my friends with experience using doulas made suggestions for me. Tia and Lisa checked all of our boxes and offered so much more we weren't even aware of. Finding support for such an intimate occasion can be difficult. I was drawn to Tia with her calming demeanor and wealth of knowledge. If you are on the fence or just unsure, know that Tia and Lisa are both so amazing. These two ladies pulled an all-nighter with another mom and still were so present for me during a difficult day with difficult medical practioners, and all on Thanksgiving (which was Lisa's daughter's bday). My partner was so happy that we chose these ladies. He was so nervous and felt so supportive as well. Thank you ladies for being with us on such a special occasion to welcome our little boy. ♥?

Encouraging and supportive--those are the two words I think of to describe Tia. We hired her early in our pregnancy, and we greatly appreciated having someone in our corner who was a great resource for us along the way. We really appreciated how Tia was helpful in educating us about the pros/cons of various choices surrounding pregnancy, birth, and postpartum in an unbiased, factual way that encouraged us to make the choices that felt right for our family. Tia is also readily available for questions and support. Even as a second-time parent, I really appreciated having Tia to bounce things off of, etc. Tia is also very knowledgable about VBAC. She was a wonderful part of our team for this pregnancy, and we definitely recommend her!

We had a wonderful experience with Tia and Tree of Life! Our classes were informative and helpful in preparing us for childbirth and newborn care. Tia is always available for questions and advice!! She was absolutely invaluable during our labor and delivery. We had many unexpected complications and Tia remained calm and supportive throughout. She reminded us to advocate for ourselves and did so much to keep a calm environment. I can't imagine what we have done without her!! Since our daughter has been born, Tia has had helpful advice about sleeping and breastfeeding. She also wrote out our entire birth story and printed pictures for us and I am so grateful for those memories. I truly can't recommend Tree of Life enough!!
