My wife and I recently gave birth to our Daughter Eleanor in early March. My wife was interest in hiring a doula and we found Michaela through Purple Lotus Doulas.

To preface, I do not participate regularly in any holistic healing practices, but my wife does. From my perspective I had some amazing takeaways. Firstly she was incredibly professional and personable, and was able to put us at ease with any questions we had about the birth and the process. She also worked with us at our home to learn stretches and exercises to prepare for the labor and delivery. I was most impressed with the day before and during labor.

When the contractions began, Michaela was available and supporting us from 2 am - 5 am. Labor had stalled and eventually stopped, she came out to help us with more stretching and prep work that night. The next day labor was in full swing and she joined us. She was able to help perform comfort measures the rest of the labor. She also stayed cool and calm throughout all the screaming and stress that comes with labor. On top of that, these comfort measures such as hip squeezes and counter pressure are physically laborious. Michaela was a complete beast and even took over for me when I needed a minute. 

I would describe my doula experience as like hiring your mother, but instead of your mother telling you to breath she's actually a birth wizard and knows exactly how to help you through the process. 

Overall Michaela's professionalism and service provided me a great deal of comfort and support throughout the process, and couldn't imagine my wife's birth going any better as a result.

Absolutely LOVE Sarah! 
During pregnancy Sarah answered any and all questions that I had. Provided me with informational articles about anything I may have been asking about.. 

Sarah was very supportive when there was a change of birth plans as well! The support she provided made me feel much more comfortable during my cesarean section. I cannot say enough good things about Sarah. She is phenomenal. 

Brandi's doula services helped me and my family tremendously. She is very caring and flexible. I originally wanted a vbac but decided to have a repeat c section for personal reasons. Brandi made sure I was informed amd ultimately supported my birth plan decision without hesitation. Even though I had a csection, she still provided essential services to me and my family. I have no family in the surrounding area and Brandi was able to wait in the recovery room with my 3 year old while I had the c section performed. It was such a sigh of relief to be able to have my 3 year old at the hospital with me, particularly right after baby was born. Both Brandi and my 3 year old were right there to greet my husband and I as we came from from the operating room to the recovery room with our new baby. Additionally, since i did not use her services for labor support, she offered to stay with me at the hospital that first night. This was extremely helpful because like I said I have no family in the area and my husband had to leave every night with our 3 year old because the hospital did nit allow kids to spend the night.

Postpartum doula services were also great. She helped with whatever I needed which was typically light cleaning and entertaing my 3 year old while I relaxed with the baby.

I highly recommend Brandi as a doula!
