Besides my work as a labor/postpartum doula and lactation consultant, I also enjoy giving back to my community through volunteerism and serving on various nonprofit boards. Some of my volunteer work includes working at the Young Women’s Resource Center, helping with DEI initiatives at Dotdash Meredith as a cochair for the DSM4DEI employee resource group. Along with that I have been appointed to the food and wellness nonprofit, Nutrition 4 Young Children. I also support the Drake Central Iowa Regional Alumni Board as the Director of Social Programs, planning events for university alumni throughout the Des Moines community.

My labor experience was more comfortable thanks to my doula Sydney. I don't know how I would have done without her. She kept me positive and encouraged throughout my labor, even when the pain was unbearable, she went above and beyond with making me feel comfortable. She used words of encouragement, massages and held my hand even when I wasn't making it easy to be around, she stuck by me. She remained calm and poised through the entire experience.
