Post a testimonial for Diana Snyder, Birth Doula, HCHD

As a first time dad, I was very glad that my wife and I decided to have Diana be our Doula. Leading up to the birth of our daughter, Diana led informative conversations and provided educational recommendations. It allowed us to be much more comfortable going into delivery. During delivery, she had a balanced approach of being caring/comforting but also providing ideas and recommendations throughout the process. She worked seamlessly with the hospital staff as well. Would highly recommend her services!

We had the privilege of having Diana as our doula! We were the rare occurrence of a doula needing to use their backup, which introduced us to Diana. We had never met her before she arrived at the hospital, and yet she exceeded every need we had during our labor and delivery. Her guidance on positions, techniques, when to rest vs when to be active, advocating for us and education, and so much more were appreciated more than I can ever put into words. She also worked so well with the doctor and nurses. We had such a cohesive team! I don’t know how any woman goes through labor and delivery without a doula. I cannot recommend Diana enough to any woman considering a doula. She’s forever a part of our birth story!

Originally, we did not know what a doula was until a family member suggested we fund one for our pregnancy and delivery. Then, we happened across Diana by pure luck, but we are so glad that we did. We cannot imagine our journey without her, she made our first birth experience so positive. When we came to Diana we were not comfortable with our current care, but were also to nervous to advocate for ourselves. Diana helped us learn how to take a pause, refocus, and learn how we can advocate for our own care. She also suggested different directions we could take with our care. We made the decision to attend a different facility and were so glad to find providers we clicked with. We met with Diana twice to talk things over and get advice and tips from her prior to birth. The day I went into labor she was there to answer all of my questions via text message and phone call. Once my husband and I decided to head to the birth center, we called Diana and she immediately met us there. She helped keep me calm and gave me strategies to keep focused. My husband was relieved to have her help in knowing how to keep me comforted, especially the use of essential oils that helped me focus on breathing. We both appreciated her support when we became panicked over a possible infected. She kept us calm and helped us proceed. All turned out well and our birth experience felt so positive to us. We are thankful we had her by our side.

When I told my husband we were hiring a Doula and I explained to him what one was, he said “that’s EXACTLY what we need!”
Diana has a wealth of knowledge in areas you don’t even know you need until you do. She helped me prepare mentally and physically in the weeks leading up to labor and delivery. Testing out different stretching and labor positions and talking about how I was feeling every step of the way. She helped me work through my thoughts when I questioned my provider and started questioning myself and my plan. She has a way of asking questions so you can make your own informed decision without saying what you should or should not do. In the end nothing went to “plan” and she was there every step of the way. She has a way of slowing down the situation to look at the bigger picture.
She was so supportive to my husband in being an extra ear and overall person to bounce ideas off of when we were in the thick of labor and delivery. She is so supportive and just there for you without making you feel like your making the wrong decision.
She was very responsive and always kept in contact with me to check in. Especially postpartum, again when you don’t even know what your going to need. She has so many resources on the million things that can come up with a newborn. My husband and I are so happy with our experience with Diana and cannot Thank her enough for her services. And her recipe for no bake energy balls pretty much made our year. Highly recommend you hire her as your Doula.

I am such a fan of Diana's and would recommend her to anyone. While Diana was a few states away, her remote consultation to me as I was navigating my pregnancy was incredibly helpful. Her ability to meet me where I was, understand what I was struggling with (and asking the great questions for me to actually figure out what that was!), and then using her network to give me a few leads to go explore — all so so helpful. She also gave me some specific suggestions that she believed would be relevant for me and that led me to identify an opportunity to better prepare my body for birth. Feeling ready, empowered, and excited about welcoming my baby shortly! Thank you Diana!!

I’m really grateful for all of the support I got from Diana during my pregnancy. She was exactly what I was hoping to have from a Doula. She was really kind and really supportive, and when I was struggling to communicate with my doctors she talked me through it and let me know that I had a right to stand up for the kind of treatment I wanted during my pregnancy. She was there for every minute of labor and delivery and I felt so much better having her there, because she helped explain and clarify anything that was confusing. I had a couple of scary moments during delivery that weren't being explained well by the hospital staff, and she let me know right away what was happening. It's so special to me that she was there for the birth of my daughter!

Diana was our doula for the birth of our daughter in 2019, and I can’t say enough how wonderful it was to have her there. She is warm, empathetic, and completely accepting and non-judgmental. Before the birth she very thoughtfully answered all our questions and helped us understand what to expect, and it was very reassuring to have someone so experienced meet us at our level. She was tremendous during the actual birth; Diana was by my side for the better part of my 30 hour labor and was an incredible support not just for me but my husband as well. In what was at times a very hectic environment, one thing I remember most is her calm, quiet voice explaining to me what was going on or what my options were. She offered a lot of guidance for positions and coping during labor, and gave my husband the opportunity to get a little sleep during the whole process. For this alone I would absolutely recommend her, but I feel like she went above and beyond when she visited us afterwards. We both struggled a lot in the first few months of our daughter’s life, and she visited at what was close to our lowest point. Diana’s empathy and caring in that visit was incredibly validating, and she gave us the precious gift of a long nap while she held our baby. On a practical level she connected us with resources that helped us both get to a more steady place. We were admittedly a little uncertain about the role of a doula before we decided on Diana, but she made believers of us both! I am so glad she was part of the start of our family.

Words can’t express how grateful I am to Diana for the extraordinary care she provided to me. As I had less than desirable experiences with my first two hospital births, I knew how important it would be to engage a doula for the birth of my third child. Having a doula became even more crucial as I was preparing for a hospital birth during a pandemic. Diana listened intently during our sessions leading up to the birth and understood my concerns, wants and needs. We put together a sound birth plan, one that outlined all I hoped to achieve in the process, including a natural childbirth. She was very thoughtful in her regular check-ins as my due date neared. When the big day came, I felt prepared and knew that I had someone I could rely on and look to for support (in addition to my caring husband). I was able to see through my birth plan and know that she played a crucial role in it. I would highly recommend Diana to anyone who is looking for an uplifting and encouraging presence by their side during any type of childbirth. I only wish I had her for my first two hospital births. Her postpartum visit was a meaningful one as we relived how wonderful the third childbirth experience was. Also, I can’t rave enough about her magical postpartum padsicles! A must buy!

Diana has been absolutely wonderful to work with! From the moment we met her, she exuded kindness and understanding. She truly has great passion for her work. Diana let us know up front that she would be out of state during a specific week in December, but I figured, since I was due in January, we would be ok. Well, my daughter did have other plans and wouldn't you know it, we went into labor very early on the week that Diana was out of state! Even in these circumstances, Diana was AMAZING! She called me, stayed in touch with me, and walked me through my emotions/situation at the time. She called another local doula to come and be with us during our labor as well. Diana noted that she was choosing this doula because she thought we would have the best connection and be a good fit. She was SO right! The person she had come was just amazing, and I truly had a beautiful birth because of that. Diana is intuitive, knowledgeable, and honestly, a blessing. After I gave birth she was in touch, and offered to have extra touch base appointments post-partum because of her being out of town (which again, totally out of her hands!). She came to our house and gave wonderful support and even came out to helped me run errands one time. I'm so grateful that I was able to work with her, and though I wish we had been able to experience her work first hand during our labor, she still made sure that I was cared for, supported, and had everything I needed. I highly recommend Diana for any birthing or post-partum doula care.

Diana is a brilliant and intentional ally to have on your birth team. She is a wealth of knowledge, resources, and most importantly radical support.
After an emergency C-section with my first child, I sought out a Doula to assist me through a TOLAC. It had been my goal the first pregnancy to deliver naturally, but when I went in for an induction at 41+ weeks I was rushed to the operating table for a c-section. It was a disempowering and traumatic experience I did not want to repeat.
I asked to meet Diana because of her specific interest in assisting pregnant people with VBAC, and after our consultation I knew she would help me prepare, self-educate, and advocate for my goals at all stages. With her help, I was able to process my fears and do my best to line up what I could control. My priority became feeling empowered to make thoughtful decisions during childbirth, an opportunity I was not awarded the first time around.
Especially challenging was giving birth during the initial Covid outbreak. Business restrictions and hospital policies were in daily flux, dismantling parts of my birth plan. But our regular check-ins kept me grounded throughout, and helped me stay positive as my due date came and went. Diana gave advice even on her way to join us at the hospital. Once there, her coaching and physical presence allowed me to feel safe enough to dive deep into labor and to trust that each new phase was progressing as it should. I felt my voice was amplified by hers, keeping my care team informed, keeping me safe, keeping me in power.
With a lot of personal preparation, my husband, Diana, my midwives/nurses/OB, and some alternative body work, I was able to deliver a healthy baby vaginally with no injury and no medication. Achieving this goal was beyond my expectations, and I know I would not have had the endurance, presence of mind and feeling of robust support without Diana's talented healing presence.
