I cannot recommend Cynthia Zinser highly enough, not only as a doula, but as a human being.  She is extraordinarily kind, smart, thoughtful, intuitive, generous, warm and highly skilled.  I hired her as my doula in the months before my son was born and again after he was born to help me recover and adjust to the first days of motherhood.  I was able to give birth naturally in a hospital jacuzzi only because of her calm encouragement both prior to and during my labor.  It was beautiful.  My favorite photo is of Cynthia at the edge of the tub, chin in her hand, smiling and marveling as my son made his entrance into the world.

She stayed for quite awhile after I'd given birth, helped my son latch on that first time, then came to my house to give my son his first bath.  She helped me through a hiccup with nursing and constructed cooling pads for my perineum. Cynthia is that best friend and brilliant healer who knows all the things you’re desperate to learn and shares them with you in a loving and acccessible way. There's a bit of magic about her: in her soft voice and easy smile; her breadth of knowledge and her compassionate listening; in her faith in you as a mother;  her joy in your baby and in celebrating and supporting you.

She is a gift to the doula profession.  I am so grateful to her.
