I met Brandy for the first time very close to my due date. When we first met, I was happy to meet her, became comfortable with her and was excited that she would be there with me during my labor and delivery. She was very helpful and supportive, shared with me really good information about different resources and had great answers for all of my questions and concerns. I love Brandy's approach towards helping progress labor with natural methods and strategies. I was scared because I had to be induced for non medical reasons in order to return back to my internship and continue to earn the hours I need to graduate. Luckily I was having minor contractions as I arrived to the hospital and didnt need pitocin. Brandy was truly a life saver as she was there to help me trust the process and my doctor, as I was skeptical of anthing my doctor said even though I really liked my doctor. Brandy helped break it down for me to better understand different things. I took all four doses of cytotec and my labor was moving along without pitocin although I accepted to get my water broke to speed up the process. I cried as the pain got worser and wanted to get the epidural as I was afraid of the pain and just wanted to have my baby in peace without being in fear or stress. I finally said I wanted the epidural but that was exactly when the baby was about to be born. I was ready to push and the doctor was no where in the building which isnt the first time this has happened like that. I was scared and cried for her help, and she was right there by my side. She reminded me of the nitrogin oxide and that helped me in those last few minutes waiting for the doctor to arrive. It was a blessing to have Brandy there with me as she helped me stay strong & find the power within myself to survive my anxiety & fears of the pain & worry that I was going through. I am forever grateful for her wonderful work & her confidence in me to help me through that day. I love GALS forever.
When I was searching for a Doula, I wanted to hire someone smart, professional, punctual, thorough, and someone with a servant’s heart. I chose Brandy after several thorough interviews with many other Doulas because she fit this bill.
I hired Brandy for the birth of my first child. I was going through a divorce from my abusive husband of 6 years who had been cheating on me. I really cannot put into words what Brandy means to me for being there for me and with me, mentally and physically, during that experience. I wanted to have a peaceful birth, but under the circumstances, I knew it would be stressful.
Brandy helped me advocate for myself when I had to tell my ex-husband he was not allowed in the room. I stayed calm because she helped me conquer this task with grace.
Brandy helped position me, soothe me, and coach me throughout the entirety of the birth. She never made me feel embarrassed, annoyed, stressed, unsatisfied, or uncomfortable. She made the entire experience positive. She encouraged me deeply before, during, and after and was able to answer any questions I had. She made sure my birth plan was carried out and fulfilled without question or error. When I think back on this day, I know that I could not have made it through without her. With or without a husband by my side that day, I would still choose Brandy to be there to make sure I was taken care of correctly. She thought of things I wouldn’t have. She has the knowledge, experience, patience, professionalism, dedication, motivation, and integrity that any woman would want in a doula. She lifted me up, literally and figuratively, and empowered me that day like no one else could. I sincerely believe that no other woman could have done a better job than her. When I think back on that day, I think of how I couldn't have made it through without Brandy. She went above and beyond and I now have a doula I will use again, as well as a lifelong friend."
