I am so happy we found Emily for the birth of our second child. Not only is she an incredible doula, she is a wonderful person who we have enjoyed getting to know throughout the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period.
Emily was extremely responsive and attentive throughout the entire pregnancy. She was always available when we had questions, and each meeting we had with her was friendly and warm yet professional. She would follow-up promptly with resources and any information that we discussed. She was a great guide and support person throughout the pregnancy.
When it came to the birth, she was a total pro and I couldn't imagine having done it without her! We had a very fast home birth and she was on top of everything from the minute we called her. She was proactive and attentive when it came to my needs, yet also took care of and was a trusted support person for my husband and 3 year old daughter.
I would highly recommend Emily to anyone looking to hire a doula. She was amazing and really helped ensure we had an extremely positive birth experience from start to finish. <3
Right from the time we met Emily we knew she would be the doula we would hire. She is very warm and also has a very calming energy (who doesn't want/need that at the birth of their baby!). All of the meetings with Emily leading up to the birth of our son were very informative, helpful, and professional, and at the same time she felt like an old friend who would be coming to help us at this really special time. My labour ended up being very fast and furious and for the short time I was in labour Emily knew exactly what to do to comfort both me and my husband....and she made us food and brought it to the hospital afterwards! I would definitely recommend Emily as your doula as you are looking for somebody to be there for you during such a special time. Thanks Emily!
Emily helped us with planning a home birth, but when we found out that we needed to induce she came to BC Women’s to support us in the delivery room. She brought music and lights, which really helped to make the space feel comfortable. She stayed with us all night, coaching my wife through her contractions and supporting us through the night to the birth the next day. Emily’s knowledge of labour positions and ability to help as a second set of hands made a huge difference with my wife’s ability to cope with labour. We can’t believe she is new to being a doula because she is such a natural. Her intuition for how to best to support my wife with position changes, back pressure, and massage was spot on. Emily’s calming presence in the delivery room was amazing and she did so much to make the birth of our son a beautiful experience.

Having Emily as our doula was the best decision we made. She was incredibly knowledgeable and answered so many of our questions before the birth. She was present through the entire labour and delivery, and had so many helpful techniques through each labour stage for me, and helped guide my husband on what to do as well. She has a humble and gracious presence that was much needed and extremely helpful through the birth. I would highly recommend Emily for whatever type of birth, however if you are trying for no medical interventions she has the natural tricks up her sleeve that will definitely help (rebozo, pressure points, massage, positions, etc.). I would recommend and also plan on using Emily for my next baby.
The value of the service provied by Emily as our Doula was more than we could have imagined before labour and delivery began. She was well organized, presented information in a way that was best suited for us and she just kept the support and encouragement coming, hour after hour while Aline was in labour.
Before meeting Emily, we weren't sure if we needed a Doula because many of our friends had successfully given birth without one. Emily was the first Doula we talked to to see if we might find we could benefit from her help. We were quite impressed by Emily right from the start and did not need to interview any others.
When COVID-19 measures were put in place, we were concerned that she may not be able to attend our child's birth but Emily did her homework and was able to confirm to us that she did have access to Lion's Gate Hospital despite conflicting information from our midwife. This took some of the stress away from us as we were able to consider it taken care of and focus on the coming baby.
On the day Aline's labour began, I informed Emily of the situation first thing in the morning, and she dropped in and delivered her TENS machine to help alleviate Aline's contractions and she offered guidance about what was going on and gave me advice on how I could best support Aline. She was very reassuring the whole time that Aline laboured at home and recommended to us when to call the midwife.
When we moved onto the hospital, Emily made sure we had everything we needed. As issues arose, Emily helped us in communicating with our practitioners and stayed right by Aline's side, coaching her through the pushing and the contractions until our boy was born.
Emily checked in on us a few days later to make sure we were doing ok and brought us soup. Which was much appreciated and made us feel extra cared for. Thanks Emily!
A girlfriend had told us that Emily was a great doula, and she was right. Since this was our first child, we did not know what to expect with labour and birth.
Emily arrived to our home at the perfect time, provided expert support to my wife, and made us both feel at ease about how labour was progressing. With Emily by our side, my wife achieved her goal of non-medicated labour and delivery.
For our next child, we already know we will be calling Emily. Her amazing service did not end at the hospital; she cooked us a great meal at our home a couple days after the birth of our beautiful boy.
We had the privilege of having Emily help us care for our fourth child as a newborn. Emily was a wonderful addition to our team! Not only did she care for our baby with love, she was a hit with our other little ones. Emily's gentle, warm nature and skill in caregiving for both baby and mother (hello foot massages!) make her a must-have for any family looking for a happy, well-rested first few weeks or months of parenthood. We cherished our time with Emily and know you will too!
he minute we met Emily, we knew we found the support we needed for the birth of our second son. It was like connecting with an old friend when we had our first home visit. It just made sense to ask her to take us on as clients. After a challenging birth with out first child, I had some anxiety with the approaching due date of our second.
Emily and my husband were the perfect support team to keep me feeling grounded and calm. She was there to remind me how strong I was, and that I could make informed decisions the entire way through (even when in labour). I laboured for many days, and she was just a text or a phone call away with heartfelt check-ins. Her home visits were like a ray of sunshine! I remember feeling so relieved to have her and my husband by my side when I needed support.
When things picked up and we were at the hospital, her smiling face and amazing way with words really helped keep things feeling lighthearted (even during some really intense moments). After our second son arrived, she made sure we were comfortable and that breastfeeding was going well, which was so encouraging.
Her ability to care for families during huge life changes is incredibly special. She will always have a special place in our heart, and we hope to spend more time with her for postpartum care. We love you, Emily!
