Attends hospital births? All Hospitals
I have a particular passion for natural childbirth & have helped several mothers achieve their goal of natural childbirth in a hospital setting through childbirth education, comfort measures, & continuous labor support.

Attends birth center births? All Birth Centers
I'm so excited moms now have this option in Bangor & can't wait to provide services there!

Attends home births? Any Home Birth
I gave birth at home with a midwife twice myself, so I'm very familiar with what it takes to give birth naturally at home when pharmacologic methods of pain management are not an option. My favorite childbirth classes to teach are comfort measures for birth, and I love to put those into practice at a birth. I do not, however, attend unassisted home births.

I am a labor doula & Certified Childbirth Educator. My childbirth classes are designed specifically to prepare moms who desire a natural, unmedicated birth. I am now offering virtual doula services to support families through COVID-19 as many hospitals, birth centers, and home birth midwives have limited the number of support people who can accompany a woman into labor.

Out of the 4 pregnancies I have had, there is nothing that compares to the birthing experience of our second baby. With our first child, we had little knowledge about birthing. We ended up having a birth that led to an epidural, lots of pain, and a sense of surrendered control to the hospital staff. For the second birth, we wanted to something different. So, we asked Caitlin to support us. The coaching that she provided us over the pregnancy became the anchor that carried me all the way to naturally delivering our baby. With her support, I was able to feel like I was in control in the birthing experience and that I really could DO IT! The information & practice that we received was so valuable and it made us feel exceptionally prepared for most situations that could have arose and prepared us well for those that did occur. The classes she provides are very personal and are what I liked most about her approach. She personalized each topic to our needs & made sure that we were comfortable with the material before moving on. I loved the hands on experience; especially the breathing techniques and birthing/laboring positions which I utilized from the beginning of my contractions to the very last push of birth of our baby. Caitlin educated us on how to have a successful natural birth, and she was also by our side as soon as I went into labor. She came to our home to make sure I was laboring well and when it was time to go to the hospital, she continued alongside us, counted for me as I breathed through the contractions, wiped off my forehead and lovingly encouraged me to the very end. We truly believe that we couldn’t have had such a pleasant second birthing experience if it weren’t for her dedication and passion to encourage and teach women with their partners that they CAN give birth naturally in a positive way. We are very thankful for her presence that birth as it is a memory we will always treasure.

I am so thankful that Caitlin was able to be there with me for the birth of my second child. She is a cheerleader, coach and all around encourager through one of the most powerful, intimate and painful things a woman can go through. She knew just what to do and say to help me get through contractions and have my little rainbow baby. She told me where to focus my energy just when I needed it and I believe my baby was born as quickly as she was because of her help. I highly recommend Caitlin if you want a friend, confidiant, encourager and an advocate for you and your baby to have a safe and happy birth experience.

Working with Caitlin was one of the smartest decisions of my pregnancy.

We started with childbirth classes, which were well organized and thoughtful, she answered all our questions in depth (and always followed up with even more information afterwards), and she immediately made my husband and I feel at ease. She presented all the material objectively--not trying to sway us towards one method or delivery decision, instead just giving us scientifically-backed information and allowing us to draw our own conclusions. Her classes are also incredibly hands-on, and we used many of the comfort measures we learned in class during labor and delivery.

Caitlin also attended my 30-hour birth, and I can't imagine going through it without her. she was a calming presence when I needed to relax, and a cheerleader when I needed energy  She was an active participant in counterpressure and other physical help, even though she was 30-weeks pregnant herself! She stayed by my side until well after the birth, to make sure both of us were ok.
I would highly, highly recommend Childbirth Edification to any and all expecting parents!
