Tori Rodriguez was heaven sent. When I set out to find a doula, all I knew is that as a young black single woman experiencing pregnancy for th first time, I needed support. However, what I got from Tori was much more than that. She was like family and you can definitely tell she is truly passionate and loves what she does. I think that is a major thing when choosing a doula. Tori went above and beyond th duties of a regular duty just to ensure I was healthy mentally and emotionally when it was time to deliver my baby. She came to appointments with me she was Informative about different shots and maternal care. She also broke down things for me that I didn't understand. During labor, I was adamant that I wanted a natural childbirth with limited medical attention intervention. I didn't have a epidural so Tori helped me cope with pain and in actuality she was the one who coached me through pushing to break my water and deliver my baby with no medical assistance just when I was ready to give up. My doctor did not make it to the room until after my baby was born. She had faith in me and my body when I had no faith in myself. She was reassuring, patient, supportive, and understanding. I could not have prayed for a better doula or support system. Today, I'm 3 weeks postpartum and Tori continues to check in on me and baby weekly for updates and to ensure we are doing well physically, mentally, and emotionally. I cannot thank her enough. I honestly don't think my labor and delivery would have gone as smooth without Tori as my doula. I can confidently and honestly say my every need was met and then some.
