There is so much to navigate, in regards to postpartum healing, hormones, emotions, and taking care of your new baby, whether you’re transitioning into motherhood for the first time, or adding your fourth kid.  I didn’t have a postpartum doula after my first two births, but hired Amber for my third and fourth babies, and it made a world of difference.  She attended to my physical needs, making sure I was staying hydrated and nourishing my body so that I could take care of my baby.  She attended to my emotional needs, asking how I was doing, listening to my concerns, and politely offering suggestions that, even as an experienced mom, I forgot to try.  She was there to hold my baby, change her diapers, and rock her to sleep so that I could nap or be present with my other kids.  When I was overwhelmed with household chores, she’d step in to wash, fold, and put away my laundry, or clean the dishes that quickly piled up in my sink.  Her help was appreciated, and her friendship helped me to not feel isolated and alone, which was the case for my first two births.  I cannot day enough great things about Amber and the support that she provided for me postpartum.
