Attends hospital births? All Hospitals
I worked for 5 years in a SLC hospital in an administrative position. I also birthed 5 of my own babies in a hospital setting. I enjoy hospitals and believe that for some it can truly be the best place to have a baby. Because of my intimate knowledge of hospitals I can help you navigate the ins and outs of hospital births.
Attends birth center births? All Birth Centers
I am familiar with and really love birth centers! I had my last baby at a birth center and truly loved the experience.
Attends home births? Any Home Birth
I am very comfortable in the home birth setting and really enjoy seeing the comfort and familiarity that comes with a laboring woman and her partner bringing their baby into the world in their own home.
My most significant volunteer work I do is with my own 6 kids! Being their mother has taught me more and shaped my heart in a way that nothing else could. I am a sponsor in a local 12 step group for survivors of betrayal trauma. I help women find healing, peace and strength as they work the program and recover from significant betrayals. I also volunteer at The Food and Care Coalition monthly and find joy in serving in the community.

I cannot say enough good things about Monica, she is absolutely amazing and was an essential member of my birth team! I felt an instant connection with her when we first met. Because of a bad experience during my first birth, I wanted to be very deliberate with who I had in my birthing space this time. Monica was very in tune with my needs. I appreciated her ability to just jump in and know what I needed. She supported me and my husband in a very respectful way. My birth didn’t go as planned, but Monica stayed with me giving emotional and physical support.
I also appreciated her coming to my home and letting me process my emotions 2 weeks postpartum.
I will forever treasure the pictures she took of my baby’s birth!
I hope to have her at all of my future births.
Monica Wilkinson helped me give natural birth to a 10lb 9oz baby!! She attended the birth of our son as our photographer, but she was so much more than that!!! From the moment she walked into the hospital room she coached me with words of strength and comfort, helped me through contractions assisting with counter pressure, and even gave me a foot massage while I was having skin to skin with our brand new baby.
This was my 2nd birth and things progressed faster than I expected. I was dilated to an 8 after just a couple hours of labor and contractions were becoming more intense. I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to handle the pain any longer and started asking my nurse for the possibility of an epidural. Monica stood next to me telling me how strong I was and that I COULD do this. Her inspiring words helped give me the mental strength I needed to commit, and our son was born shortly thereafter. Monica’s confidence in me gave me confidence in myself. She has a very peaceful energy and was just what I needed. I feel so grateful that she was able to attend our birth. She is talented on so many levels; as a photographer, doula, and friend.
When we got our pictures back, I looked through each one with tears streaming down my face. Monica captured each moment so beautifully, and I feel so incredibly grateful that we have these pictures to cherish forever. Thank you Monica!!! - Hannah Madsen
I highly recommend Monica to anyone contemplating hiring a doula. She is so warm and easy to open up to. During the weeks before I gave birth, she was a great support and helped me work through some fears I was having. She also coached me through various labor positions so I felt more confident and prepared for birth, even though this was my fifth child. During my prelabor, she was a great at checking in regularly and giving me some emotional support I needed. During labor, she helped me find natural ways to ease my pain through counter pressure she applied and showed my husband how to do it to among other things. She did such a great job at coaching us through it and reminding me to relax when I was getting to tense without being in the middle of everything. She was so encouraging. After the birth, she came to check in and see how I was processing everything. It was so nice and helpful to have someone to go over everything with you a few days later. She was so warm and easy to open up to and discuss anything I needed to. Again, if you are looking for a knowledgable, warm and encouraging doula who is so easy to get on with, Monica is all that and more. If I were to have any more kids, I would definitely hire her again.
As a first time mom, I was grateful for Monica's help and support. She met with us beforehand and made sure that both my husband and I had solid information on how labor works and even provided a list of places we could go for extra help if needed. During actual labor, Monica was incredibly insightful and knew of ways to help me that I never would have thought of. She seemed to instinctively know when I needed the extra support and when I needed some space. She helped make my birthing experience a wonderful, magical, sacred moment that I will always look back on with a smile.
“I had such a wonderful birthing experience with Monica with our third baby that we delivered at home. I had 11 hours of active labor because our baby had a nuchal hand. Monica never once left my side through my birthing time. She gave me positive affirmations of her own and some from Hypnobabies (since I had taken a Hypnobabies course) which was so helpful and empowering. She also gave me a lot of counter pressure on my back and cold wet clothes on the back of my neck and forehead. She was so in tune with how I was feeling and what I needed that I never had to ask her for anything because she was already doing it, which I found to be so incredibly helpful since I was so focused on birthing my baby. Monica made me feel strong and safe throughout my birthing time. I'm so happy I had the pleasure of having Monica as my doula, I would definitely recommend her to any woman looking for a sincere, intelligent, in tune, amazing, doula.”
Monica was an amazing doula. She was such a great support before, during, and after delivery. She checked up on me often to make sure things were going well and when it came time for labor she was here exactly when i needed her and provided a lot of comfort techniques and helped my husband know more of how to help me cope as well. She is calm and collected and has a special air about her. Im so glad she was there at our son's birth-she added to our experience in such a positive way.
