I had my first baby in March and looking back I do not think my husband and I could have done it without Sara by our side! We started our Doula relationship with Sara when I was about 6 months pregnant and we decided to do chid birthing classes with her. At first I know my husband was not really sure why we had to do the classes and was not super excited about them but by the end of the 6 hours he was so happy we did the classes and did not want them to end and I know that is 110% due to how amazing of a teacher she was!
When it came to my actual delivery, as most do, it not go to according to plan or the way I thought in anyway. I had to get induced at 37 weeks due to high blood pressure and I always figured that my body would just take to the induction and it would be pretty straight forward, which did not happen, and I am so glad that we had Sara by our side when everything started to not go as plan. AI was at the hospital for about 24 hours after being induced with not much progree but thankfully Sara decided we needed some support (even though if we did not think we did) and decided to make the 45 min drive down to be with us at 11pm. She slept in the waiting room, trying to let us get some rest but peeking in on us every couple of hours during the night. After 34 hours of labor the doctor decided it was time for a c-section and thankfully we had Sara by our side the entire time!
Sara was by our side, supporting us, the minute I went into the operating room and the minute they wheeled me into the recovery room. In the recovery room she assisted with our son latching for the first time and I 100% believe her assistance with that is why I never had an issue with breastfeeding and our son is a champion at it. I wish I could say a million more things about our experience but I am out of room. I am just so thankful we had Sara as our support because we would have been lost without her.
My experience with Sara Hutchinson has been nothing short of amazing. She is the most caring, compasionate, welcoming and loving friend and doula that I know. She was there for the birth of my two babies who are now 2.5 and 1.25 years old and 18 months apart. She educated me on birth and carrying my babies and was supportive every step of the way. I would not have been able to make it through my births without her by my side.
She also provided much needed support for my husband and basically helped faciliate my entire team/ support crew leading up and during the births. I think that doulas are so valuable in this entire process not only for the mothers but for the fathers too.
She has also been a great sounding board and resource in post-pardem and has provided a lot of wisdom and encouragement in these first few years as new parents. This is something that I also believe doula are extremely valuable for.
