I wanted a doula for our third birth after 2 waters births, one in a birth center and one in a hospital. The third was to be in the same natural friendly hospital as the second where I had felt out of control and slightly undermined despite being with midwives. I hired Cara on the spot after I interviewed her. We immediately meshed, had similar life views, and understood each other. I knew she would know my needs in labor even when I couldn't talk. I was right. My labor began very slow almost like false labor but wasn't going away. Despite the far apart inconsistent contractions Cara came to my house when I asked. She helped me try to get things going more but the contractions just stayed irregular and when I went more than 30 minutes without one we decided maybe labor stalled or it had been false labor so she let me try to rest and she left. Later I decided to go in and get checked because the contractions kept coming but super irregular. Cara headed right up there when it turned out I was 5cm. They broke my water and things got intense and crazy quick. She comforted, soothed, and kept me calm during labor. She sprayed warm water on my back, rubbed me when I asked, and even recited bible verses to me during transition when I freaked out and demanded "scripture! I need scripture!" She knew what I needed in the moment. I expected my third birth to go fast and easy but it turned out to be my longest and most difficult birth. Cara was figuratively and literally holding me up at times. I wish I would have had her for my first 2 births. Husbands are great but mine just didn't know what to do without me yelling at him and when you're in labor you don't need any more reasons to have to yell. So glad God put her in my life. Having her support was invaluable. Thank you Cara!

I met Cara through an interview when I was pregnant with my third baby, and we just hit it off. I could tell upon meeting her that she really cared about me and I knew that I definitely wanted her in my birth team. Cara is very knowledgeable, so kind and caring- she made me realize that I had more control over my birth experience than I thought, and was very supportive of my decisions and helped me stick to them.  She came to one of my check ups and met my OB, she came to the hospital and stayed the whole night with my husband and I when I went in for a scheduled induction, she reminded me to ask questions about medications and the things they were giving me to be sure that I wanted them, and she helped me get through a short and rough labor and delivery, as well as, helped my husband to help me better. With Cara there to support my self and my husband, it was a completely different and much more pleasurable experience than what I had with my first two children. So, I knew when I became pregnant with my fourth that I wanted Cara as my doula again. With my fourth, it was the best birth experience I ever had, it was so peaceful and calm. Cara, my husband, the CNM and the nurses were so amazing, and were above and beyond all I could ask for in a birth team. A doula is a great support for your pregnancy/birth, even if you have a supportive partner- there are ways a doula can support you that you would never have thought of and I believe Cara exceeds that expectation! I 100% recommend her services to anyone expecting in the Fort Worth metroplex!

I am so thankful I had Cara by my side during my 5th pregnancy and delivery! I wasn't sure if we were going to hire a doula this go around seeing as it was our 5th but I'm so glad that we did! I was planning for my 2nd water birth and about a week before my due date I was told baby was transverse. I was already battling anxiety and fear during this pregnancy, for whatever reasons, so when the mention of a possible c-section was brought up at my appointment it didn't help. But Cara was amazing at calming my fears by praying over me and baby and giving me tips on how I could get baby to turn naturally. She even drove over to our house just to show my husband and I one of the exercises, to ensure we did it correctly. I had a version scheduled with a dr a few days later just in case I wasn't able to get baby to turn on my own and my husband couldn't miss work that day so Cara went with me to my appt! There were a couple other small hiccups but baby ended up turning and I had the water birth we planned for. I'm not sure that would have been the case had I not had Cara by my side, supporting my husband and I and giving me the confidence I needed in those moments where fear and uncertainty try to creep in. She really went above and beyond and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula!

Choosing to have Cara as my doula was the best decision I could have made as I prepared for the birth of our first child. She helped me plan for a natural birth but then helped me roll with the punches when my baby required an emergency induction at 37 weeks. Cara was there for my 28 hours from induction to birth and supported me and my family with such grace. She helped me stay informed about the options available to me for pain relief and was an invaluable resource as I tried to find the right position to push from. I would highly recommend Cara to any mommas looking for an encouraging and loving supporter to add to their birth team. Cara was exactly what I needed to feel empowered throughout my entire pregnancy and birth experience!
