Michele Winn Magnuson

We hired Willow as our post-partum doula in January 2016. She was recommended to us by our birth doula. My husband and I recently moved to the area, so we did not have any family nearby. She is very intuitive about what a post-partum mom needs. She helped with light housework (laundry, dishes, trash), watching the baby while I showered (or NAPPED!), and making the tasks that seem impossible as a new mom much easier. She made sure I was eating regular meals and drinking plenty of water, and would make light meals or run out to get food if I needed it. She had great ideas such as putting bowls of snacks and bottled water around the house everywhere I nursed to make sure I was eating and drinking. She will always respect your wishes as a parent, but she also has some great advice about newborns, nursing, and post-partum life. We liked Willow so much that we kept her on for 8 more months as our part-time nanny!

Willow was amazing! Unfortunately I was unable to have a natural birth as planned and things got very scary for awhile. But she was there and helped so much! She is also a massage therapist and since I couldn't get out of bed, massaged me for hours to make me comfortable. She kept me focused thru the contractions and asked questions that we didn't think of. She hung up the outfit I brought for the baby to wear home so that I could focus on it. Because I had to be put completely under for a C-Section she kicked all of our family out for my husband to have skin to skin with Blake, our son. They wouldn't leave!! And it was really important to us that my husband be the first to hold him and to do skin to skin. And she made that happen.  She came the next day or two to see how I was doing and massaged my back and feet as I was so uncomfortable. I would definitely recommenced her.

Willow was the most fabulous doula a woman could ask for. She simultaneously is comforting and energizing.  Willing to help in any way you need.  Never judgmental about your choices. Also, she has 13 years experience as a massage therapist.  This really helped through the last 14 hours of intense contractions.

I wanted an all natural labor with a midwife and thought I would be more active since I have an active lifestyle. I researched all the different positions and exercises. However my labor was 30 hours of very intense contractions and so I found that laying in between and sitting up during contractions was best. Willow was so positive and supportive. She really helped me make it through without even thinking of taking pain meds or other interventions. If I had decided to take meds I know she would have supported me in that too. She also left and went to the store and brought me several things that I requested: honey coconut water and popsicles.

Finally, Willow just has an awesome personality and I instantly felt very comfortable about having her at my birth.

Here is a quick summary:

Expert masseuse

Knowledgeable but not judgmental

I highly recommend her!!!!

She has a traveling massage table for postpartum massage which is so helpful for a new mama!  Love her!!!

Willow was such a God sent as a doula. She worked with another doula and came by my house a few weeks before my due date to go over what my birthing plan was and how she could help. When she got the call that I was in labor she was the first to my house and did such a great job at calming me by using massage and essential oils to help relax my body. Once I was transitioning and at the hospital everything is a blur but I just remember her rubbing my feet for what felt like hours and emotionally being there for me. The day after I delivered she came to check on my baby and I and it was so nice to see a familiar face.

Willow brings such a calming relaxing energy to the birth. In the midst of all the chaos it's great to have someone there helping you and reminding you and that you can do this. I highly recommend Willow as a doula. I don't even want to think about what my birth would have been like without her.
