We hired Stacey for the birth of my second child. I was hoping to have an unmedicated hypnobirth in a hospital setting and thanks to Stacey’s amazing and supportive participation, that hope became a reality! Her support and positive energy were crucial to our empowering labor and delivery experience. My husband and I were initially on the fence about having a doula since we hadn’t had one the first time around, but now having the experience with one, I highly recommend it! Having Stacey part of our birth team, we were ensured that our birth preferences were respected, acting as a great liaison with the hospital staff, which allowed my husband and I to focus on the special and intimate experience of bringing our son into the world!

My husband and I weren't sure what exactly a Doula did before we decided to work with Stacey. We're so glad we found her! She supported us throughout the entire pregnancy and offered me emotional support, encouragement and made me aware of my options for the birth and beyond. As a first time mom, I was a bit overwhelmed by all the conflicting information and found myself anxious at the beginning. Stacey's guidance made me much more calm and confident. She is knowledable, compassionate and a fierce advocate for her clients. She made the journey of pregnancy much more enjoyable for me. It was so nice to have a support system to share my hopes and dreams and someone to calm my fears. She also made my husband feel supported and confident about becoming a dad. Our needs we're different at times and she handled both of us with patience and tender loving care. The actually delivery was a fun, joyful experience and we're so glad she was there to celebrate the arrival of our daughter. She helped me through every step of my induced labor, something I was very nervous about. I'd hoped for a completely natural birth and even though my body needed help getting things started, Stacey allowed me to see that was a normal occurence and assured me that my body was working perfectly. She gave my husband the tools needed to support me and allowed him the space to sleep and eat when he needed a break. We're so happy with having a doula present for our first child and we love that that person was Stacey Blackwell. She's truly a special person and we're so thankful for her help and guidance.

Stacey Blackwell was such an amazing part of the birth of our daughter. She gave us a wonderful refresher about all the things that come with the birth of a child, something we thought we knew just fine since we already had one. But we soon realized we had forgotten a lot. Stacey was a great resource of information, a calming presence during a hectic, stressful time, a soothing voice and set of hands for my wife, a wonderful advocate for our wants and needs in the delivery room, and a terrific photographer to document the journey on top of all else. I particularly appreciated her on delivery day when there were some slight complications that caused some stress. I was able to focus on my baby's needs while I knew she was there for my wife. Words can't express how helpful she was and the amount of gratitude I have for her assistance. Thank you Stacey!!!

Stacey supported me as a post-partum daytime and nighttime doula. Stacey took exceptional  care of me and baby girl from birth through 3 months old. She is warm, thoughtful, responsible, competent, knowledgeable, trustworthy, reliable and everything else you want your doula to be. She shepherded me through significant breastfeeding challenges, was a resource for lactation and pelvic floor experts and provided information on any question I might have, including ones I didn’t like identifying the early stages of cradle cap and teaching me how to treat it. She anticipated my needs before I knew them, and more importantly my daughter’s. When I didn’t have enough hands, Stacey gave me four more. She even shopped for and prepared food for me. In the last month, Stacey helped me with sleep training and to establish a daily routine. At night I could rest easy (and deeply!) in between feedings knowing my daughter was in very experienced and caring hands. I cannot overstate how critical it was for me and my little one to have such amazing care in those special early days — I will always be grateful to Stacey for that! Her services are invaluable and I recommend her without reservation.

When considering a birth photographer, my partner and I had to not only love their style but love there personality and energy. When we met Stacey we immediately loved her style and felt like we were visiting with an old friend. She was extremely professional, but with a relaxed attitude. Within minutes of meeting, we knew she would be an asset at our birth. Stacey continuously checked in on my progress during pregnancy and was very thoughtful in her approach to joining us at the birthing center. During our 36 hour labor, Stacey was a bright shiny star with continuous energy. I felt so at ease with her, and taken care of beyond a photographer, she became my birth support. We had discussed Stacey's documentary style photography background so I knew she would catch the gritty moments as well as the emotional and beautiful story of the birth. Stacey breathes energy into a room and has a heart of gold. We truly feel that she went above and beyond for us when she then came with us to the hospital and ended up not only taking photos during our emergency C-section but supported my husband during the whole process. She stuck with us to the end. This is the kind of intelligent love and guidance that cannot be taught. Our birth story is one of long hours, hard work, and the support of multiple people to birth our baby, but Stacey was the most valuable to us while we stepped into our new role as parents.
