No one expects to give birth during a pandemic. As our baby's due date approached and passed in late March, we found ourselves in a changing situation that we couldn't prepare for. With all the surprises and new challenges, Michelle was the one part of our birth experience that we could depend on. She proactively checked in with the hospital to keep track of changing policies and reported back to us promptly. She remained calm and level headed, but also extraordinarily empathetic. She was such a valuable resource.

However, we hope that this isn't an experience that will be repeated any time soon, so we will also rave about her in a more normal context. We decided to have Michelle come to our home during labor, which for us escalated in intensity at a very rapid pace. As soon as Michelle arrived, she sprung into action and used her uncanny intuition to provide emotional and physical support when we didn't have the capacity to think clearly or communicate our needs. She was able to time contractions and communicate with our midwives to help us lay out the best strategy for heading to the hospital. She was extremely present and involved, but still gave us the intimate space and privacy for us to experience these special moments together as partners.

From the moment we decided to work with Michelle, she was always available as a resource. She knowingly shared that the internet is a scary place for pregnant women and new parents and offered to be our personal Google service to provide a layer of separation from the panicky, worst case scenario answers to our many questions. She is extremely organized and it was always seamless to set up meetings and phone calls.

We so highly recommend working with Michelle as your birth or postpartum doula. We're certain she has an incredible career ahead of her and we're enormously grateful that we found her.

Michelle was the most incredible birth partner and doula I could have hoped for. I'm a single mom and gave birth during the peak of the pandemic in April 2020 in New York. To make matters worse, family members who'd planned to come and support me also couldn't travel due to the pandemic so Michelle became my everything supporter and I couldn't be more thankful to her for how she stepped up for me.

The final weeks of my pregnancy were an absolute rollercoaster ride of shifting hospital policies and public health changes but she guided me amazingly through each challenge as it arose. I had hoped for an unmedicated birth and Michelle had supported me in that decision and then pivoted quickly to help me get my head around the need for a planned c-section when my baby was stubbornly breech. I never would have expected it but Michelle ended up being an invaluable on-call resource prior to, during, and after the birth. She jumped on zoom calls with my friends who were providing support to me around the birth, debriefed with me after doctor's appointments, and made special efforts to advocate to support me in-person as a single mom, even when most doulas were not entering hospitals at all.

I trusted her completely to make best efforts to stay safe and healthy and to let me know if anything changed. She was also my postpartum doula and was a pragmatic, supportive and knowledgeable set of hands in those first early days at home. If you want a doula that is calm under the most intense pressure and a tireless advocate for you always, hire her. Like, right now. Do it. You can't go wrong.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Michelle as our birth doula. We delivered during the coronavirus pandemic, so Michelle supported the birth of our daughter virtually. I was worried about how virtual support would work, but throughout the 30+ hour labor Michelle was right alongside us (via video chat). We cannot recommend her enough! She was immensely helpful throughout but specifically with:

- Suggesting alternative labor positions and guiding my husband through counter pressure techniques to help with my back labor

- Coaching us through breathing techniques during each surge/contraction

- Being a calming presence throughout

- Incredible encouragement, patience, and kindness when I was feeling a bit hopeless during parts of the labor

- Supportive of our birth plan (did not push her preferences or agenda) - really felt like she was "on my team" the whole time

- Empowered us to advocate for ourselves and our birth plan, helping us think through interventions suggested by an overly aggressive, confrontational doctor - we had discussed my birth plan in advance and while I was remaining flexible, this doctor infused an extremely negative attitude into the process and suggested three interventions in one breath. Michelle, my husband and I talked through the proposed interventions (none were medically necessary/not an emergency situation) as a team and I feel confident we made the best decision for our daughter and me.

- Professionalism - availability (our first call was at 12:00AM Wednesday night and she was with us until the birth at 5:30AM on Friday morning), strong technology and internet connection (important for virtual!), organized with thorough follow-up (had a digital library which served as a great resource in helping us prepare)

Again, we cannot recommend working with Michelle more. Feel confident that you are in supportive capable hands.

My experience with Michelle was absolutely amazing!  It was such a joy working with her.  Her pleasant personality put me right at ease from the moment I met her. She is very reliable, attentive and prompt when reaching out to her.  Any doubts or questions that I had, she made sure to provide me with important information in order to help me make proper informed decisions, which was super helpful.  Although my baby's birth did not go as anticipated, Michelle was with me every step of the way, making sure I was comfortable physically and emotionally.  She made my birthing experience just that much special because she was present and I knew she was there for me.  I am forever grateful.

Michelle is amazing. She is very supportive, responsible, professional, punctual and caring. She was absolutely great with our newborn baby. She was our night doula for a few days over the course of two weeks - her help allowed my husband and I to get much needed sleep, as well as a couple of dinners out - what a treat! She is just wonderful and I highly recommend her!
