Meagan was the best decision we made during the pregnancy. You never know exactly what labor and delivery will be like, and as it turned out, we couldn’t have done it without her. It was a treat to have coffee with her several times during the pregnancy to talk about how things were going, and she checked on me via text many weeks.
My birth was planned for the birth center in Wilmington, but when my water broke, no labor. She met us at the birth center for monitoring, a castor oil shake, and a long walk at the mall nearby. When I was transferred to the hospital for an induction, my labor ended up being long and hard. Meagan didn’t bat an eye at the amount of time she was on her feet walking with me, swaying through contractions, and once I had an epidural that didn’t work great, rubbing my feet and helping me breathe through contractions. (Meagan was super supportive of my decisions all along the way!) I was at 9 cm for 6 hours (baby was sunny-side up), and I would have given up if she hadn’t been there. She also helped my husband give me counter-pressure in the right way, help me breathe, etc. We had a vaginal delivery after 42 hours, and SHE WAS SUCH A KEY TEAMMATE!!
I can’t imagine how exhausted she was, but she was focused on my husband, my baby, and me the whole time. My husband and I will always be grateful to her! She definitely helped us prevent a c-section, and she helped a long, hard labor be a positive memory for me.
