From your moment I met Kate, I felt at ease in her presence. Her warm personality, coupled with her knowledge and passion for birthwork make her an incredible doula. During my pregnancy, Kate was responsive, empathetic and knew just what advice to offer depending on what mood I was in at the time. During my birth, Kate was my cheerleader! With her guidance, I was able to have an incredible natural delivery in a hospital. Kate's support continued through postpartum where she prepared my placenta pills and met with me several times to ensure I was healing and I was transitioning smoothly into my new role as mom-of-two.

I would recommend Kate to anyone looking for a compassionate and knowledgeable doula!

I woke up on the other side of an induced labor and delivery (without pain meds) and immediately thought to myself, “thank God I hired a doula and thank God it was Kate that came to us.” If you are uncertain  about hiring a doula and/or about choosing Kate as your doula, trust that you have been led to her and she to you because she is meant to be part of your sacred birth journey. Let me explain my certainty about this:

Kate appeared in my labor and delivery room in place of my hired doula because the other had a family emergency the day I went into labor. At first when we found out we would have a “back up” doula coming for our hired doula, my husband and I were uncertain about inviting her (a complete stranger at that moment) into our sacred space and experience.  Upon her arrrival to our hospital room, she seamlessly  integrated her assistance and support and became a natural and essential part of the labor and delivery team. My nurses even commented that Kate was fantastic support to me (and my husband) and that she became a team member to them too!

I had a long, and physically and emotionally grueling labor (24+ hours), and Kate’s support was unwavering, steady, empathetic, and uplifting. She allowed me to feel every emotion without ever discrediting my very real fears and doubts; yet, she managed to keep me emotionally grounded, strong, and focused through all stages of the labor process.  I’m certain our baby was also calm, stress-free and born free of complications given Kate’s expert ways of inviting calm into our difficult journey.

My husband and I met Kate when I was already seven months pregnant, but her sweet demeanor and openness immediately made me feel connected and comfortable with her. I quickly felt like we had been friends for much longer. Her thoughtfulness and care towards my mental and physical being in pregnancy brought my total trust that she would care for me in my delivery. She became a friend I wanted at my side. When my labor came on in the middle of the night, I did not hesitate to call her when I needed her. Even though it was 2am, she was there quickly and her calming presence immediately made me feel at ease. In my early labor, she massaged and put pressure on my lower back during contractions which quickly dulled the pain and helped me relax through them. After an hour of her being with me, she helped us to determine I was ready to go to the birthing center. Once there, I continued to rock, breathe and hold Kate’s hands. During my pushing, Kate applied counter pressure to my hips which helped dull the pain tremendously. After 1.5 hrs of pushing, my big 9lb- 6oz baby boy was born. I do not think I could have done that naturally without the help of Kate and my midwife. Kate’s ability to keep me calm and relaxed while applying counter pressure techniques to help me through contractions was invaluable! She is what every birthing mom needs to get through the most painful moments. Not only did I have a beautiful birthing experience, but I made a great friend. I look forward to seeing Kate again and having play dates with our kids in the near future!
