Holly will always hold a special place in our hearts!
She helped to bring our beautiful son into this world!
My husband & I met Holly when we attended her prenatal class.
We both felt very comfortable with her & asked if she would be our doula for our son's birth.
Holly came to our house for a couple of visits prior to our labour to get an idea of what our birth plan was & how we wanted her to assist us.
On the day I went into labour Holly came over & poured me a bath, provided me with different comfort measures & helped me to stay home as long as possible before going to the hospital.
When it was time to go to the hospital Holly was amazing!
She was very good at helping me get through my contractions, she poured me another bath, & kept me & my husband as calm & relaxed as possible.
Holly is very understanding of your preferences & isn't pushy & gives you different options to think about before making a decision.
Holly stayed with us until shortly after our son was born in the early hours of the morning.
She came over for a few visits after our son was born to help with breastfeeding. She was also a very good person to call to help with any questions we had.
Holly is amazing! She is very caring, professional, knowledgeable, supportive, and approachable.
Holly was recommended to us by a girlfriend whose due date was 2 months earlier than mine. After interviewing 2 doulas we chose Holly because of her happy, bubbly personality. We wanted someone who could handle the various family members (i.e strong personalities) who may be in the delivery room with us (ie mom/aunts etc). We were originally looking for a doula who was of asian or spanish descent because we assumed that our family would be more comfortable that way. We didn't find one, but we did find Holly! She was worth every penny and more! Calm, supportive, happy, and strong (physically and mentally!). My family loved her too! She became family! Before and after delivery Holly was always available by phone/text. Always there for support/questions. When you are in labour, you will be super happy to have Holly! :)
We had Holly attend the birth of our second daughter. She was very supportive about my feeling towards labour and delivery, and helped us have exactly the experience that we desired. She was very helpful at anticipating what we needed and helped us maintain a calm and comfortable atmosphere at home while we laboured. She was very encouraging, and helped us to identify when it was the right time to go to hospital knowing my feeling of wanting to labour at home as long as possible. Our labour was fairly short, so she an essential extra pair of hands to have at the hospital once we got there, since our little princess arrived less than 2 hours after we walked through the door. She was very knowlegeable and worked very well with our midwife.
After we went home, we had a bumpy start to breasfeeding. It was terrific to have her only a text away, to offer me support for that as well. She was always frank, and very positive when I needed it the most. When we had a problem with a nursing strike a few months later and I was trying to manage a SNS with an angry baby, a four year old and my husband away, she was right there when I needed her to offer an extra set of hands, a soothing ear and lots more of breastfeeding advice. I would recommend her to anyone looking for an experienced doula, who is easy-going and outspoken.
My husband and I can't say enough positive things about Holly! We met her at prenatal class and knew that we would both feel comfortable having her in the delivery room with us as first time parents. She met with us twice before labour and helped us navigate through some family drama. She is open, caring, professional, and approachable. She is the reason I was able to have a natural birth and she helped me stay at home as long as I could. Her support at the hospital was amazing -- she got me a bath tub (where I did most of my labouring) and even told the nurse how to hook up the new tank of gas (she had never done it before). She kept my husband calm and helped him help me by subtly reminding him to offer water, use the tub sprayer, etc. She was never pushy and we never felt like she had an agenda (she didn't bash drugs or interventions, just brought up different options for me to try when the pain became a lot to handle). She stayed until the next morning and visited us when we got home to see how we were doing and to support me while I navigated breast feeding. We both feel that she is incredible at her calling and will definitely book her again for our next pregnancy. You won't be disappointed!
My husband and I are so glad we had Holly by our side for the birth of our son. Holly's calm and assured presence gave both of us confidence and helped us stay focused and relaxed. Leading up to the birth, she gave us awesome tips and suggestions, and was a great sounding board for our questions and anxieties. i would definitely recommend Holly, and would use her services again.
Holly was so wonderful to me and my family! She was always really supportive of my choices during the birth, while I was in labour Holly would come anytime of the day or night to be there for me. While we were at the hospital for 12 hours Holly would walk me around in the hall ways to get the contractions started, also she would deeply massage my back where most of the pain was with her special tools she had. Before it was time to deliver I was prematurely pushing before the cervix was completely dilated! The nurses and Holly were all trying to calm me down before it was time to push! When I started to push the first thing Holly asked me to do was to feel the baby's head and made it very special for me as it was my first child! Once the baby was out and weighed Holly helped me with the baby to latch onto my breast. After a few days out of the hospital Holly.made sure everything was ok and told me to keep in touch with her. All in all it was an amazing experience. I would definately recommend Holly to anyone else! And of course I would use her again for my next baby!
Because of Holly my birth experience was so wonderful! She was very patient and understanding. I was extremely nervous about the delivery and she kept me calm and focused. I highly recommend her!
Holly was a welcomed and enjoyable asset to have during my recent labour and delivery. Having had a negative experience with my last labour and delivery, we wanted to hire someone that would be positive and knowledgeable with a sense of humour. Holly brings all of these things along with a bag of goodies to help everything go smoothly. I really appreciated Holly's ability to distract me from the pain in early labour. Holly is a great support to have at any pregnancy, labour, delivery and beyond.
Holly was our Doula and also did our prenatal classes. She was very organized for all of the classes and brought along a lot of her own tools and props to demonstrate things clearly for us. We are both very visual people so this was very helpful for us. I felt that her doula services were just what we needed: a kind yet firm and knowledgeable support person for us as we went through pregnancy and labour/delivery. Holly came to us immediately when we needed her, and even drove to the hospital to be a comfort and gentle voice for us when there were complications near the end of our pregnancy. Holly was the third person to meet our son. She was with me in the recovery room less than thirty minutes after birth, helping my new baby latch onto my breast and congratulating me on my strength and courage. Holly is strong, gentle and very knowledgeable. Her straightforward demeanor was great for us since we didn't want fluffy, sugar-coated information. She told us plainly and simply what every birth scenario would entail, and as a result, we were fearless and confident in our pregnancy, labour and birth processes. We would absolutely hire Holly again and we recommend her to any expectant parents.
At first I was hesitant about getting a doula. I thought I would be enough to help my wife. But looking back at the experience... Holly was worth every penny. She was honest, knowledgeable and helped guise us both through the process. She made my job easier as a secondary support person. She gave my wife the emotional reassurance that things we going as best as they could go. And through a marathon labor she stuck by us 110%. In the end I would recommend Holly to anyone and if we ever decide to have another, we will be going back to Holly again.
Having Holly present as our doula for the birth of our son was one of the best decisions my husband and I made.
It took convincing on my part to get my husband to agree that it was a good decision to have a doula but in the end we were both so grateful that Holly was there. The birth process can be terrifying at times because sometimes you don't know exactly what is going on. Having Holly there to answer your questions or let you know that everything that is happening is perfectly normal is so reassuring and it definitely allowed me to relax (as much as you can when you're in labor!!!) and deliver our son safely.
I really liked how Holly met with us twice before the birth to go over any questions we had and review some of the information we learned in our prenatal class as some of it was a bit fuzzy in my memory.
During my labor Holly was there for both myself and my husband throughout the time. She came to our house once my contractions got a bit more intense and came with us in the car when it was time to go to the hospital. It was wonderful having a doula present as someone was always at my side. She was able to get me juice or cold cloths while my husband remained with me. Some of the advice Holly gave to me during the final pushing stages 100% contributed to my labor progressing more quickly as I completely changed the way I was pushing.
If we are ever blessed with a second baby we will definitely have Holly with us for the birth! Having Holly present at our son's birth was worth every penny. Thank you Holly!
On June 7, 2013, we gave birth to our first child, a beautiful baby boy. Like most mothers, I was secretly terrified about how labour would go. Luckily for us, Holly was there as our doula to guide us through this new and daunting experience. She was amazing! Holly was not only extremely knowledgeable and experienced, but equally important to us, she exuded natural warmth, compassion and an obvious love for babies and families. She was also very resourceful. She was able to very quickly assess a situation and address our needs immediately every time. She thought of everything! She was also such a calming presence. No matter how intense things became, she remained calm and focused with a genuine smile on her face. And I needed that! Our son came much faster than anticipated, and an epidural was not an option. I had not mentally prepared myself for a natural birth, but Holly got me through it brilliantly with her support. Even after the delivery, she made a big difference for us. She came to our house and provided valuable guidance with breastfeeding at a time when I was about to give up. As a result of her help, I have now breastfed exclusively for almost 2 months and will continue to do so. To sum it up, Holly was basically our calm in the middle of our storm. We would most definitely recommend her services to any expecting family.
Holly is an amazing doula! She was very supportive during the pregnancy, labor, and postpartum times. . Her presence during the birth of our daughter was a tremendous help. I don’t think both my husband and I could survive through the whole labor “DRAMA” without her. She prompted the nurse to check me and found out I was dilated from 1.5cm to 7cm within 2-3 hrs when I told her the constant pain at a position during my contraction. Having her there gave my husband the opportunity to rest and know I was in good hands. I believe my success in nursing my baby is because of Holly. She gave great advice and encouragement whenever I have breastfeeding problems with my baby.
My husband and I will definitely have Holly as our doula again when we have our second baby.
"How can we ever thank you, Holly, for all your caring and confident support of our niece and grand niece. We (my niece and I) were instantly soothed by your presence at the birth of her precious daughter, and with all your follow up visits. Our niece is as a young mother whose own mother is no longer on earth. She needed a loving mother figure until extended family could be present for her, and you fit into that niche perfectly.
Your expertise and guidance, as well as hands on work, provided that very crucial care for new mother and baby to thrive and not just "survive" for those first couple of months. You went over and beyond the call of duty and for that we are forever grateful!" Barb, John, Danielle and Adrianna
Working with Holly has been a great experience, she has made our transition into parenthood a much calmer and enjoyable experience. Holly’s work in teaching and support has been invaluable to me as not only am I a first time mother but a first time mother of twins! We will miss her very much when she leaves us. Thanks Holly!
Holly was a wonderful support for our family durring both my pregnancies labours and births. She helped tremendously with my initial transition into parenthood and helped our family adjust positivly when the newest baby was born 5 years later.
I had the pleasure of being supported by Holly in both a hospital and home setting. With two dramatically different experiences Holly was able to fluently work with me to help my body work effectively to achieve beautiful births safetly.
It is clear from working with Holly that she believes in a womans bodys ability to birth. She supports a woman and her chosen support systems decisions and has great nonbias resources to offer durring difficult decision making. She is well informed and concreatly understands her role as a doula.
Durring my postpartum period with my first daughter she helped me understand how capable the new baby and I were and helped me be a confident and nurturing mother. When the new baby was born she helped our family transition well so every member of our family was included and an active participant.
Both my daughters have been exclusively breastfed. Holly was very positive about my decision to breastfeed and was great at suggesting ways of talking to people when their views differed from my own. When my first daughter was nursing we ran into some issues after my milk came in. Holly came by immediatly and helped us adjust the latch so baby and I could be comfortable. Despite breastfeeding the first baby for three years we ran into some difficulty when the new baby came. Again Holly helped promtly and we found a latch and position that worked for us. Breastfeeding has been a great experience for us and has helped us put our limited time and finances to good use. Holly was a huge part in making it work well for our family.
