I had always dreamed of having a birth in a birthing center but my husband wanted a hospital birth, so we settled on hiring a Doula - and it was the best decision we ever made! We found Alexa through a mutual friend, and to be honest, I didn't even look into hiring anyone else. She was so attentive to all of our questions and needs from the beginning and her warmth made it easy to decide on hiring her. I know that I wouldn't have had such a positive birth experience without her by my side. She kept me so calm and helped me (and my provider/nurses) stick to my desired birth plan. She's so knowledgeable and was there for me postpartum - which goes above and beyond the call of duty! I love her am willing to bet you will too. Hire her, you'll be as grateful as I am that you did.

We hired Alexa around 5 months which was in early February and she immediately made herself available to me to talk through my wishes, my anxieties, options etc! I tell you the timing of when we hired her to say that things quickly started changing in the world around us, as did my options but she stayed steadfast. When my anxiety was out of control not knowing what would come next she would be there to reassure me that I was making the right choices for our baby. I think back at a time that could have been so full of nervousness and I am just thankful to her and making herself available to me!
When it came time to deliver I ended up with an induction but Alexa helped me research the best ways to slowly start the induction and not just make it a fast and furious pitocin delivery. My induction was slow and steady and we kept her in the loop but on day two I let her know how things were going and she decided she needed to be with me and for that I am so thankful, I feel like once she arrived I was able to really get in the right headspace to meet our baby! I am for the most part a hands off approach and like to be left alone with my music and labor and Alexa just rolled with the punches and let me be but I knew she was right there if I needed her. Our babe was being very stubborn and not wanting to turn or come down so Alexa did some manuuvering with the rebozo and we did some deep squats and she turned and was ready to roll! It was after then that talks of pitocin and breaking my water started happening with my midwife and I spoke about what my wishes were for this and Alexa stood up for me and made sure I got what I wanted! When I started feeling pushy Alexa became my official hand holder, birth photographer, best cheerleader and who I was looking to for reassurance that I could do it and that I was doing it!
Hiring Alexa was hands down the best decision and easiest decision we made ever!!

Alexa is so amazing. She helped me during postpartum and was so helpful during the nights. She took care or my little one and me with expert ease. I am so thankful that she was part of my postpartum journey and the transition my family went through as we found our new normal. She is fantastic and I would recommend her to any momma or momma to be.

I knew when Alexa asked me what my top priorities were for my birth and we talked in detail through every one, that she was going to be an extension of myself--the me I would be if I wasn't busy in labor!
She attended my homebirth which was a marathon of a weekend. She was quick and attentive to come over at 1:30am, and then supportive and encouraging when my midwife sent everybody home at 7am because I hadn't made enough progress. She left me a cake that GAVE ME LIFE in the middle of that emotional roller coaster (she's such a great baker, see something on her instastory that you're drooling over and she will totally make it for you!), and checked in on me throughout the day. Things picked up quickly toward the evening, but I was a little hesitant to call everybody back in case I wasn't making progress again. I texted her something like, "the contractions are picking up but if you want to wait until my midwife checks me, you can!" She read right through that text and got to my house faster than my midwife did.
What I loved about having Alexa there was that she connected all of the dots. No task was too big or too small for her. She rubbed my back, she made me tea, she cut my steak, she washed my towels, she timed the birth for my midwife because her apprentice didn't make it in time, she took photos, and she's still my favorite person to reminisce about that day with. She was every bit present but not the least bit intrusive. Having her there, knowing all of my wishes (many of them pertained to my insecurities about my messy house while healthcare professionals set up shop) was such a blessing. I know she would be a strong advocate, too, in the event of a hospital transfer.
To top it all off, long after all my extra postpartum help dried up, I could not get caught up on laundry to save my life. Alexa came in like a swift wind and the hours of laundry folding rolled by fast as we just chatted like pals.

I really got to "know" Alexa through her blogs and writings on pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Throughout my first pregnancy her sharing of information on social platforms really helped solidify what my ideal birth plan would be. So when becoming pregnant with my second, I saw Alexa was working on her certification to become a doula. I really feel like the stars aligned for me.
I delivered at a hospital and Alexa arrived during the earlier stages. We laughed and walked the halls, she taught me some of the most amazing techniques on how to work through my contractions. Not only did this help with pain management but I really think it sped up my delivery.
When we could tell labor was speeding up, Alexa suggested new positions on laboring while being stationary in the room. Again, total lifesavers. I am so thankful for having Alexa there when it came to the delivery. My husband and I both agree that she offered such a sense of peace and wisdom to our birthing experience. I could go in to detail on all the ways the hospital failed me that day but I am more thankful for the fact that Alexa was there to advocate for me.
Postpartum care is what really mattered to me. Recovery, with my first baby was hard for me.. mentally. I couldn't understand why depression was consuming me. I wanted to be prepared this go around. Alexa was so kind and compassionate. She is a wealth of knowledge and her services are something you can't put a price on. Our society needs to normalize the fact that new moms need help. I think Alexa's work is her true passion. One thing I really admire is that she cast no judgement on any type of decision you make. She is there to offer some really great advice and techniques. She really does support you mentally and physically. I absolutely recommend her for birth and postpartum care.

While Alexa is my sister-in-law and one of my best friends, I was very hesitant to having her be my doula. In fact, before I was pregnant, I told her I wasn't going to have her as my doula because it was weird for me to think of her seeing me in all of my glory... Once I got pregnant, I changed my mind and I am so thankful I did. Alexa was a great help and has a wealth of knowledge in so many different topics related to pregnancy, birth and postpartum. She met with us a few times throughout my pregnancy to go over different topics and help prepare us for labor, and also gave us different tips on what we could do to encourage labor (with approval of my midwife) when my due date came and went. When I finally went into labor, Alexa was there over the phone and then in person. She helped me manage my pain and comforted me. She gave my husband tips on what he could do to help me, which I really appreciated because it helped him to be hands-on and play a part as we are both first time parents and experiencing this together. I labored for about 42 hours before transferring from the birth center to the hospital and Alexa was there for most of it, helping me with pain management and words of encouragement. Due to COVID-19, we didn't know if the hospital was going to allow her to come in, but she tried and tried until they told her no. I do wish they would have allowed her to come in, because I think things could have gone differently had she been there. After my daughter was born, Alexa checked in with me and we talked about all things breastfeeding and postpartum. Overall I give Alexa a 10/10 and I want her to be my doula for all my future births!
