Gilly is a wonderful partner. I never thought I needed a doula until we met and discussed what my after care would look like once my second baby had arrived. If you've ever had a baby before, you might notice how all the attention and fuss is over the baby and the mother is usually not a primary concern. I found that to be true in the hospital as well after my c-section recovery. My baby received more specialized attention and care than I did, and I felt lost and alone. Gilly was there for me in my recovery, not only making me feel cared for, but also anticipating my needs.

I had a surprise and early, second time c-section a month before my due date. Gilly met me after the baby was here with so many wonderful items to aid in my recovery. Along with lotions and healthy, delicious food, she also made me lactation bites to help boost my supply. And just to note how thoughtful she really is, not only did she bake me muffins for breakfast and meat pies (both food items I could eat one handed while breastfeeding-so smart!), but she also made mini ones for my older child to enjoy with me. The first few days with a new baby can be a blur, but with Gilly's help I was able to navigate the transition home with ease and confidence.

It's not just about baked goods and lotions, although those were amazing, it was about having someone on my side at all times. Gilly was always available when i had questions about my recovery process, my baby's needs or just to hear a friendly voice. She's more than a support system, she's a cheerleader. I have never felt more encouragement and kindness from another person. If I ever doubted myself, Gilly would be there to tell me I was doing a great job. Being a mother is hard, but with Gilly by your side, you cannot fail. I am SO grateful for her wisdom, her guidance and her loving care. Gilly is one of the most positive parts of my second pregnancy, and she has become a huge part of our lives.
