Working with Ann was the best choice we ever made for our birth plan.

When I first learned I was pregnant, I was VERY skeptical about doulas. In my mind, doulas were judgemental, pushy, all natural women who would want me to remain totally drug free and birth in my home in a kiddie pool. When I began meeting with mid-wives/doctors and realized that I would not have a consistent care-giver during my journey, I decided I needed to reconsider doula services. Then Ann came into my life.

During our first meeting, she shared with me her own own experiences, her philosophy on being a doula, and provided a wealth of knowledge. My biggest take away, and essentially why I decided to work with her, was that she was there to be MY support; Supporting me with all MY choices, helping me make decisions for what was best for ME, providing me research (both pro and con) for all MY concerns, etc. She was solely focused on supporting ME and my husband without any judgement or bias.

And that was exactly what she did. She met with me multiple times, was available to reach during the wee hours via text/phone when I was scared, and most important to me was a huge support for my husband. Ann was someone he could ask questions  and be vulnerable with. She was so knowledgeable and eased his mind about his role in the birth process.

When I went into labor, Ann was essential. My birth plan went out the window from the start. Having her by our side, knowing she was with us from the start of our pregnancy helped when nurses and doctors seemed to give me contradictory information. She was by my side, slept in my room, held my puke bag in surgery, and was the perfect coach through my 30 hour journey. She followed up after the birth with in home visits that soothed our concerns.

Ann is a doula who is person centered, compassionate, research based in her practice, and the best choice for support during your pregnancy journey.

I hired Ann for the birth of my first child and I couldn't have made a better choice. She prepared us ahead of time with all questions for a "birth plan" and made us feel comfortable and prepared for the whole birthing experience. She was available prior to the birth for any questions and needs. She checked in regularly and was well informed, professional yet warm, and her knowledge base is incredible. It's clear she has a passion for this and takes the time to educate herself on all matters, whether or not she's had first hand experiences. I had a difficult birth where I had to try to reposition the baby during excruciating labor and Ann was 100% prepared for everything with all the tools and tricks. I also ended up with a retained placenta and had to transfer to the hospital, which she also handled like a pro - even better and more professionally than the birthing assistant from the birthing center! I highly recommend Ann as your doula. She's just the best and I couldn't say more nice things about her and my experience with her.

I'm so thankful that we had Ann with us through the entire process. She met with us twice during 3rd trimester and helped us understand the birthing options that we may want to consider. She explained benefits and risks of various choices, which helped us to feel confident making our own decisions in developing our birthing plan.

I went into active labor at 1am, and Ann was there for us. She offered to meet at our home, but we decided to have meet at the hospital. I had planned to have a vaginal delivery.  However, after laboring at the hospital for several hours, I had a complication that necessitated emergency C section. She was supportive and comforting for both my husband and me through the entire process. Thankfully, both my baby and I carne through the C section healthy.

Postpartum, she came to visit me at home which gave me the opportunity to process the events leading up to and during my emergency C section. This was so important for me and my husband.

Overall, we're very thankful that Ann was our doula and hope to hire her again in the future.
