Hello! I am so excited to be considered in your journey to motherhood! I have an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development, and a passion for birth and babies! While becoming a Doula, I participated in a year long mentorship under a certified Doula, practicing skills in the field. I have 6 years of child/infant trainings and experience in families, birth, and childcare. I received my formal training under Gaylea McDougal, a practicing Midwife in the Nashville area for the last 15 years! Please review her website at http://www.rootscollaborativecare.com. Families have the option to pay a $100 deposit to secure spot on calender, and make flexible payments. All fees are to be paid by 38 weeks. Postpartum fees are due before service is provided. I decided to use Anna as my doula the day I found out I was pregnant. To say the least Anna was an amazing doula. I was induced a month early due to some complications. I went in expecting to be put on pitocin and for it being my first i thought it would be long. After some time of being induced my dr. Broke my water. After that things progressed quick! Anna helped me get from 1 to 6cm within a couple hours. She was able to help me breath and do some exercises to help the process. At about 6cm I decided to get an epidural which caused my body to relax and bam in an hour we had a baby! No pitocin and I didn't tear much at all! With Anna's help I even got to help deliver my own little boy Lucas. If you're looking for an awesome doula Anna is the way to go.
I knew from the moment I spoke to Anna on the phone that she was going to be a great fit for me. She helped me navigate every decision throughout my pregnancy by offering evidence-based advice and never pressured me or judged me. Making sure her clients are making informed decisions is what matters to Anna. Also, she always made me feel strong, capable, and beautiful even when I was feeling tired and unsure. When we had to pivot last minute (40+1, two days before my induction) to a scheduled c-section and I was devastated, her support and encouragement never wavered. She was an incredible advocate for me before and during my c-section and made sure that I still got the things I had wanted after an unmedicated birth including delayed cord clamping, gentle wipe down, and most importantly true immediate skin-to-skin. I was able to have my baby on my chest under my gown while I was being stitched up and all the way through to recovery. I truly don't think I would have had the courage to ask for those things if Anna had not been there. Also she took some of the most incredible photos of my son being lifted out and me holding him that I treasure. I 100% recommend Anna.
Anna was incredible - I truly could not have had the unmedicated birth I dreamed of without her support. She prepared my husband and I beforehand, and on the day of the birth she never left our sides. Anna was such a calming, encouraging presence for me during the birth, and helped my husband to be an amazing birth partner. I was impressed with how she balanced comfort measures, but also intermittently had me do squats/lunges and get into other positions that were not as “comfortable”, but that she helped me understand were necessary to keep my labor progressing. With her help, labor progressed consistently and smoothly, and my baby girl was born without any medical pain intervention, just as I’d hoped! She also helped work on breastfeeding afterward, and stayed long after she had to to make sure I was settled and doing okay. Would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat!
I have only the best things to say about Anna Wilson. My wife and I recently hired Anna after we decided my wife would try for a VBAC with our second. Hands down - hiring Anna was the best decision we made for our birth process. She not only provided crucial education on labor that we didn't know with our first, but she was also an endless source of encouragement and coaching for my wife. She both made herself available - and would proactively check in with us in the months leading up to due date. Anna is also all about involving husbands in every step of the process - which I appreciated. On the big day, Anna was there as soon as we needed her, staying with us even until after the birth happened (without a C-section as we had hoped!)
I would strongly recommend Anna to any couple considering hiring a Doula - she goes above and beyond for her clients, and for that my wife and I will be eternally grateful.
A message to future Dads: Not only will you not regret hiring a Doula to assist mom & baby, you will consider yourself very fortunate to have hired Anna.
Firstly, I can attest she is extremely knowledgeable of the entire birthing process. This knowledge translates to power….power to you….to make more informed decisions in executing your birth plan. This is vitally important because plans and actuality rarely align perfectly and when they don’t, Anna’s wise counsel is invaluable.
Secondly, Anna’s interpersonal skills are superb and so she is very easy to work with. This also makes her very adept at liaising on your behalf with medical professionals, hospital staff and even friends & family. You will be interacting with a lot of people during this process and that can be overwhelming at times. Anna takes care of this with aplomb!
Lastly and most importantly, Anna clearly has a passion for this…and it showed! Anna stayed at our sides for nearly 15 hours without a break beginning at our home then overnight in the hospital with us until our baby girl arrived at 5am. In that span of time, she worked constantly and tirelessly to comfort my wife and thus took a lot of pressure off of me. She’s not doing this to make an extra buck, she’s doing this because she loves it.
The bottom line: Going in, I considered this to be an investment in our family that I hoped would provide some benefit. Now having gone through the entire process with Anna, I can unequivocally say this investment paid off far beyond my best expectations! Money well spent!
I will forever be grateful for what Anna did for us in bring our baby girl into the world.
I am so glad I found Anna as my doula! She is a wonderful and experienced person and did an amazing job supporting me during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Thanks to her encouragement I found the right provider and place for the birth of our little baby girl. She prepared me well for the journey! During labor and birth she would not leave our side and worked relentlessly for many hours to make sure baby and I were fine. Her knowledge and support inspired and empowered me to make it through a challenging natural birth. She was an excellent liaison with the hospital staff. I had a very positive birth experience thanks to her fantastic work! ??
Anna is a one of kind person/Doula! She did everything in her power to make sure that my birth was exactly how I had envisioned! She never left my side through the entire birthing process! I had a VBAC delivery and it wouldn't have been successful without her. She showed me different positions to help labor progress and ways to get through the pain of the contractions so that I was able to wait as long as I could without getting an epidural. I would recommend Anna to anyone! If you are in search of the perfect Doula to help with your entire pregnancy and birthing process she is the one!!! She was even so helpful post partum as well!! Anna is the best!!!
I don't even know where to start ! This lady is absolutely amazing.. i came to her at about 7 months pregnant and she did everything she could to make sure i knew everything i needed to know i was for sure i wanted a natural non-medicated birth! With her help i achieved just that, we listened to Beyonce radio the whole time and when it got rough she just reassured me that i could do it just breath, change positions! I tell every expecting mama about Anna because she was that awesome!
Being a ftm l was completely uneducated about everything that had to do with child birth. Who knew there is so much info that is so helpful to know? I sure didn't! I met anna shortly after l was 20 weeks pregnant. We went through our interview and me and my boyfriend instantly knew she was who we wantdd to Guide us through child birth. We set up our prenatal visit and she taught us both sooooo much . she was so supporting of my decision on wanting a natural childbirth. She taught me some ways to help manage my pain. She was also there 24/7 if l had any personal questions . at 34 weeks l went to my doctor visit and when they went to check me my water Burts . so being 6 weeks early youd think id be freaking out! I headed over to the hospital called anna and she had came over immediately. She helped me through every contraction and even helped me try to dance my baby out! Sbe was so supportive and helped me in everyway she could . when it came to pushing she helped talk me through each push and even held one of my legs up and my boyfriend held the other. Moral of the story is a doula is supposed to feel like a best friend . anna Definentally gave me that feeling. I strongly recommend this amazingly strong hearted woman . l will chose her as my doula over & over again. ??
Being a ftm can definitely be scary. Before l had met anna l was completely uneducated about child birth. Who knew there could be so much info that is helpful to know . l sure didn't! I met anna sometime after 20 weeks . my dream was doing a all natural birth. And anna made that dream a reality
On may 18,2018 l had went to my doctor for check up. At only 34 weeks l didn't expext my water to break! We lefy
I met Anna through her daycare center and I loved how she put all of her heart into everything that she did. I was pregnant with my second child and wanted someone to help make the day a happy and memorable one since the birth of our first child was very chaotic and scary. We hired her a little late in the game but she was always there to answer questions and teach us some methods to make the birthing process more soothing. When my baby girl decided she was going to be stubborn and be breech, Anna came over to our house and helped with excercises to try to get her to furn. She even recommended a chiropractor.
Unfortunately, my baby girl had decided she was comfy the way she was and was not going to turn so I had to have a C-section. Before the C-section Anna provided us with some sample birth plans so that we could know what to expect and also know what we could control. She was their bright and early and talked to me about our plan and also helped us to make sure we gave the staff all the necessary information regarding our previous birth experience. When we came back to the room she was waiting there to help us settle in with our baby girl.
I could have had a natural birth so that Anna could have really had her chance to shine and help us through it but it just wasn't in the cards.
Anna and I went to high school together. What I remember most is that she was the kindest person you would ever meet. We came into contact years later via Facebook while I was pregnant with my second child. I was committed to a natural childbirth and having Anna as a birth coach was all I could ever want. She taught me exercises and techniques to prepare for birth, what to look out for, and how to advocate for myself. While we had some issues with my OBGYN and his hatred of doulas, Anna was still available to me the entire birth, and I pushed through a rather traumatic natural birth with her support. She is A+, absolutely I would recommend her for every birth. In fact, if we ever have another child in the future, she is the first person I will call.
