I am passionate about helping families welcome their new babies into the family and all adjust to the new beautiful and challenging reality. I have been an enthusiastic member of the birth community in the Phoenix area for over a decade and have worked as a volunteer at the County Hospital in Labor and Delivery. My aim is to provide families with the support they need to bond and thrive at this most precious time of transition and the work I do for each family is highly individualized to meet that unique family culture. In addition to my doula work I am the assistant director of an international organization that seeks to empower woman and men through sacred dance and moving meditation. I am also the assistant director of the organization's student teacher program and lead workshop on this topic all over the country. Forrest is amazing! We were a little hesitant to ask for help at first, but so happy we did. It was worth every bit. She is an easy person to welcome into your home. She’s easy going and resourceful without being too forward. She works with each family individually to do what works best for you, not a one fits all approach. I looked forward to the nights she came to our house, not only for extra sleep, but for comfort and peace of mind as well. Forrest is extremely knowledgeable, positive, caring, reliable and trustworthy. She is a truly genuine human being.
Forrest provided post partum doula support to our family during the first 6 weeks of bringing our daughter home. We interviewed two other wonderful post partum doulas, but my husband and I were immediately on the same page about Forrest being the right choice for our family. She was with us during the nighttime and I cannot express enough how valuable it was to have Forrest's loving care and support during those first challenging weeks. She is full of tips and great advice on anything newborn, recovering from c-section mom, dad and toddler sibling topics. I looked forward to the nights Forrest was coming over not only for the extra sleep we were going to get (what a difference it makes!) but also for the great energy Forrest brings with her. Every new mom should have post partum support or a great start with a new baby. You can't go wrong by choosing Forrest, it's the best investment you'll make.
I met Forrest on the recommendation of not just one, not two, but three trusted friends who all raved about her. She was the first doula that I contacted, and from the moment I met her I knew that my search for a postpartum doula was over. At the time I was only 20 weeks pregnant with my first child so I had quite a while to wait and wonder about life with a newborn, but knowing that I would have Forrest's support postpartum gave me confidence that I would be well equipped to handle all the challenges that a new baby brings. I was right! Forrest integrated into our family seamlessly, and I am so grateful for her support in the most special time of our lives. Her experience with newborn care and behavior is remarkable. Night after night she answered my countless questions and educated me about all aspects of newborn life: sleep, nursing, swaddling, bathing, calming, the list goes on and on. While I was sleeping, she kept a detailed log of baby's activities so that I knew exactly what to do and what to expect upon waking. She introduced me to information that I didn't even know to ask about and even highlighted and tagged information in my books for me to reference later on. I chose to nurse, and although sleep comes only a few hours at a time in between feedings, I know without a doubt that I slept better than my friends who did not have doulas in those first 8 weeks. Having Forrest in my home gave me peace of mind, and as a result, I allowed myself to shut down completely when it was time to sleep. Forrest's calm and confident energy was incredibly helpful for both my husband and me, and when we decided to have a second baby, we called her immediatly upon finding out we were pregnant so that we could be sure to have her with us again! The second time around was as spectacular as the first. Forrest's loving presence in those first few months is such a gift - my heart is full of gratitude as I recall both of our family's "new beginnings".
Forrest is amazing to say the least!!
She makes your first nights home from the hospital with your little one worry and stress free. She is there for you every minute no matter what you need. She not only helps you with the baby but helps you around the house. It makes the nights so much more enjoyable and lets you relax and get some much needed sleep. She is a wealth of knowledge and can answer any and every question that you have. If you are looking for someone to love and care for your baby as much as you while you need that little bit of extra help... Forrest is the one!
Our twins were born in January of this year. Even though we had one child already we had no idea how much care would be needed for twins. Forrest was an absolute life saver! I really don't know what we would have done without her. She expertly cared for BOTH babies during the night-feeding, changing, and soothing. She was also my breastfeeding champion and gave me the courage to continue as long as possible. And as if this wasn't enough, she washed and folded laundry, took out the trash, and baked delicious banana bread and blueberry pie! Forrest communicates clearly, concisely and effectively. She is smart, kind, loving and integrates seemlessly into the family! Forrest is truly amazing at what she does and who she is as a person!
Forrest provided postpartum care for our entire family following the birth of our daughter in 2011 and our son in 2013. Our daughter was a sensitive and spirited baby and agitated much of the evening witching hours. We called Forrest “the baby whisperer,” for the way she could soothe her, almost instantly. Forrest shared strategies for calming her, including baby-wearing techniques, the 5 S’s and diet modification. We valued her depth of knowledge and experience caring for new-borns, but it was her grace and gentleness that allowed us to trust her implicitly with our daughter.
As a first-time mom I had a very intense postpartum experience. I was hyper-vigilant, unable to relax and had no extended family living in the state. Forrest also nurtured me, in line with her belief that her work involves caring for the whole family unit. She brought me wholesome food alternatives when I modified my diet for my daughter’s GI issues. We brainstormed self-care strategies to increase my resilience, and often, simply her company and calming presence was enough to shift my energy.
When I found out I was pregnant with my son, she was the second person I called (after my husband)!! She transitioned seamlessly back into our home and our lives. This time I hired Forrest 5 nights a week for 4 months. I truly believe the additional support and rest she allowed me, on top of the knowledge that our son was in her hands, helped make my second post-partum experience less tumultuous and healthier overall. She remains a valued and trusted friend, and my children love her.
It feels like Forrest has been doing this for lifetimes and she is a blessing to everyone she touches. I can’t imagine having a baby without her!
Hire Forrest, before someone else does!
Forrest was our post-partum doula, taking care of our newborn baby and me for the first 6 weeks. Forrest was amazing, so helpful and had such a calming effect in our household. She did laundry, washed dishes and even chopped vegetables to help me get a slow cooker meal going. Most importantly, she soothed the baby at night so I could sleep when I was not nursing the baby. During the days, I was well rested so I could take care of the baby and since the chores were all done, thanks to Forrest, I took nice long afternoon naps with the baby. I didn't have a PPD with my first daughter and was totally sleep-deprived and a wreck. I am so glad we hired Forrest this time around.
Forrest is very knowledgable in newborn and post-partum mom care. She encouraged me to eat the best foods for nursing, to drink more water and to get more rest - three things that are always helpful to be reminded of.
After our experience with Forrest, I recommend to all of my friends that they also hire a PPD. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Forrest.
Forrest has provided the highest level of care for our children from birth to age 6. She has an in-depth knowledge of the physical needs of the children as well as a wonderful intuition to support their emotion needs through these times of rapid development. Forrest has a gentle nuturing spirit and a natural way of creatively engaging the children. Forrest continues to be a strong source of support for our entire family.
We worked with Forrest after the birth of our first child in 2011. She was absolutely amazing. She has so much knowledge and experience with newborns. As first time parents, there was so much unknown. She brought great calmness and peace the nights she was there. She showed up on time and helped with anything she could to allow us to get as much sleep as possible. I would highly recommend Forrest. She will be the first phone call we make when we find out we are pregnant for our second baby!!!
We are very pleased to write a testimony for Forrest. From April 2010- August 2010, we have had her services 24 hrs a week caring for our triplets (beginning at 3 months old). The kids really enjoy spending time with her as she proficiently addresses all their basic care & developmental needs. She is great with advice on ways to manage infant issues, willing to be flexible on infant care & home services, and you can tell she truly has a calling for this kind of work.
